Talking about the setup, specifically about number of scum in the game, as a certainty suggests that you might know more about the setup than a townie, a vanilla for that matter, would.
Trumpet of Doom wrote:Counterproductive is scummy because it distracts from actual scumhunting.
Demoralizing is scummy because it demotivates the town and makes them think it's going to be really hard to win, so why bother trying? (This particular version also makes us paranoid, because we think more players are trying to get us lynched because they know it'll help them win.)
Really don't see it, especially the demoralizing part. We're trying to find maf here, no matter what.

No votes have been placed.

With 6 alive, it takes 4 to lynch.
Yes, my fake claim is Innocent Aligned with the Town win condition as per the mod's first post.

Until and unless you can show that my certainty - based on the facts that we have six players left alive, no dead scum, and the game's not over - was unfounded from a townie, you can't use it as a scumtell. (Link is to the post where SC said there was no way for there to be 3 scum. :P )

Yeah, okay, demoralizing was a bit of a stretch. Counterproductive, though, I stand by.

I don't agree that MacavityLock is being demoralizing by speculating on the setup. It's not counterproductive either: we're most likely in 9:2:1, this is LYLO, but a 10:2 would make it MYLO at this point. 9:3 is mathematically impossible right now.

I wasn't saying ML was being counterproductive/demoralizing, I was talking about peanutman. Specifically, this post.

Sorry Trumpet but I don't really care about your other games, I haven't been playing for long enough to know if metagaming works, my opinion at the moment is that you can just pull up any old game where you were town to give an example where you've acted the same way...and considering as scum you'd be trying to act as town as possible it just doesn't hold any value for me.
ToD wrote:When I asked for the name of the other mason, I genuinely believed it would be pro-town to have that information out there.
Why the need for the qualifier "genuinely" in there? I believe you now, I think you're scum and you "genuinely" thought it would benefit town for the other mason to claim and that's why you brought it up - to look town. Perhaps I'm picking up too much on semantics but in my second newbie game where I was scum (until I had to replace out) I was accused of a scum-slip which wasn't actually a scum-slip at all it was just mis-interpreted and I felt like saying "I genuinely meant..." but I thought the word "genuinely" would give me away.

I also fail to see how speculating on the setup makes someone scum, even if you think it's counterproductive that doesn't necessarily mean they are scum. Reading back over your case on Peanutman it looks like you've really stretched to make a townie look like scum (or possibly really stretched to bus a scumbuddy) as none of it looks like genuine scum-hunting, rather it looks more like trying as hard as possible to put a case on someone because you're on the chopping block.

I will be very surprised if you're town.

Vote: Trumpet of Doom

And I'm pretty sure I have no choice but to do this so:

Dear God,

God Bless little Macavity, and keep him safe and Locked,
Although his name confuses me like wearing sandals with socks.
God Bless little peanutman and keep him always salted,
God Bless little SC too, for against DS we revolted.
God Bless little lobstermania, and God Bless his mum,
God Bless little Trumpet though I think he's lying scum!
God Bless Mum and Dad and Gran and Sis and Bro and Pop,
But I ask Dear God - nay beg of you - please make this madness stop!

Amen.

Night-night!

Really? Because my opinion at the moment is that you're just going for what you think is an easy lynch.
totallynotmafia wrote:Perhaps I'm picking up too much on semantics
Yes, yes you are.
totallynotmafia wrote:but in my second newbie game where I was scum (until I had to replace out) I was accused of a scum-slip which wasn't actually a scum-slip at all it was just mis-interpreted and I felt like saying "I genuinely meant..." but I thought the word "genuinely" would give me away.
So if you expect someone else to have had that thought process (and I'm not sure why you wouldn't expect me to have, having seen my play thus far this game), wouldn't my saying "genuinely" actually make me
less
likely to be scum?
totallynotmafia wrote:I also fail to see how speculating on the setup makes someone scum, even if you think it's counterproductive that doesn't necessarily mean they are scum.
I feel like a broken record.
I already wrote:Counterproductive is scummy because it distracts from actual scumhunting.
And distraction from actual scumhunting is scummy for reasons that really ought to be obvious (you're keeping people from scumhunting; if you're town, you want people scumhunting because you win if you find the scum and lynch them, but if you're scum, you don't want people scumhunting because they might lynch you and your partner). Have I made myself sufficiently clear?

"The little engine that could" JOAT...

NOT!

Until I see that everyone has claimed, (I fell asleep at the end of D1) I won't be answering such a request. If it was done, then I will.

SC, Dedicated Scribe sold you a hell of a position. If it wasn't for the mason claim and flip I'd be voting you right now for his D1.

And that's Strike 1 for Doc. If I asked you for a fullclaim, then either a) there was a reason for it, and you need to claim, or b) there was no reason for it, in which case I will get rightfully attacked by everyone else for requesting a claim prior to when it's necessary.

Fullclaim please.

Tawny Scrawny Lion, VT.

With 6 players left I could see scum taking that chance.

Quick notes:

Panzerjager -
Pokey Little Puppy
(Vanilla Townie) - Lynched D1
Limerickx BridgesandBaloons -
Curious Little Kitten
(Town Tracker) - Ran Over N1
kunkstar7 -

Little Duck
(Vanilla Townie) - Lynched D2

(Vanilla Townie) - Ran Over N2
dramonic -
City Mouse
(Mason) - Put to Sleep N2

SC

Me
Tawny Scrawny Lion

ToD

Just got to Lobster's similar post.

I'm suspicious of anyone that posts "Welcome to the game, claim" No way anyone should treat that seriously.

Sam the firehouse cat is the only book title to mention a building.

Big Bird is a sesame street character.

Little girl from a sleepy story is way different, and fits the vig/SK perfectly, down to kill type matching the claimed kills.

The rest are either just animals, or in the case of the mouse, internally consistant and hint at the role. Not characters or such. (Similar to the kitten titles being consistant and hinting to role)

One of those two is definately scum, and really I say both of them aree.

I would hapily vote Macavity now on title alone.

TNF, you better be a vig or the town's already lost and we're just king making.

1) Macavity, striking people is scummy to me, it seems like an excuse to vote someone after three (which could be fairly trivial) reasons instead of building a case on someone. The way you said "and that's strike 1" implied that strike 2 and 3 were not far off, no matter what Doc said.

2) I really don't think the titles of the book are valid reasons to think someone is scum. Doc, once you've read through the whole thread please give reasons other that the book titles on who you think is scum. I really don't like the fact you said the title is enough to vote Macavity.

3) Also Doc, what do you mean by king making? And don't worry we certainly haven't lost yet (if you are actually town), and if all goes to plan we should be okay tomorrow.

4) It doesn't worry me at all, but why do people keep calling me TNF? Thought it was worth mentioning because Peanutman was doing it as well
