T-shirts, Cards, etc.
With the jeepfest Mafia cards going over so well, we had some discussion about putting out a set for purchase at some point (not the same set, as I used copyrighted images almost exclusively ). We've also never done scum shirts, or any other stuff like that.
If there's enough interest (and I won't know how much enough is until I figure out how we'd go about it), we'll set up a little shop at some point. Any profits would go to server costs and such. If there's anything else you'd really like to see, post it here.-

My dad knows a guy (how many times have I said that? ) who does custom t-shirts. I'll ask him tomorrow night at church how much he could do it for (or get dad to, if I'm not feeling well). There's places online as well we can look at, or if anyone has experience with custom t-shirts, let me know.
The GL shop is on cafepress, but I've never been particularly impressed with their selection. I think t-shirts and cards would be our main items, and the cards will have to be done elsewhere anyway; anything else, we can add in as there's interest and if it's feasible. (If anyone *is* interested in random mostly-white shirts and bags and thongs with some sort of mafia related logo on, feel free to request that too, I don't mind setting up a cafepress shop as well.)-

Cafepress.com lets you design stuff like T-shirts online and then anyone can buy them from the website. I don't know whether it could cope with mafiascum cards.

I'd buy a shirt with the scumlogo on it. (either this one or this one) The latter would have my preference, provided it's printed on a black shirt.
We might have to set up a committee or something to decide what should go on the cards, i still think my stick figures would be great fun.No, Im a rebel! You cant bully me into doing things I dont want to! -VisMaior -

jeep, go ahead and find out how much it would cost, we can compare prices and such.
Black is going to be most expensive, but makes the most sense. Mr. Stoofer, I already mentioned cafepress (it's what the GL uses), but to elaborate on why it's not my first choice, most of their stuff is white (I think they have a couple other light colors for shirts), and while we could probably come up with some *new* design for white shirts/etc., nothing we have now really works with it. As far as shirts go, it will probably be cheaper to do them separately anyway, so long as there are enough people interested in buying one.
A few other considerations:
I wouldn't want to use the wallpaper design as is due to the capital M and S really bothering me. But that may just be me.
Whatever is used should have the .net, not just mafiascum.
The more complicated, the more it'll cost.
Anyone is of course welcome to submit some designs for consideration. Keep in mind though that there is going to be a setup fee for each different design, so it's really only feasible to do a couple.
A few design ideas:
Just text, front and/or back (cheapest)
Just the front-page mafiascum.net logo, front of shirt.
mafiascum.net logo on back, text on front (a mob has formed, for example; if it's any simpler to do plain text, this might be the best option, as we might be able to have a variety of text options)
Small mafiascum.net logo on front (top left), wallpaper on back (minus the MafiaScum.net)-

As far as cards go, I need to talk to casinopete to get some details (and he'll be "occupied" for another week ). At the moment I'm assume standard playing card size, in which case the design template I've already got made would work quite well (other than having to mess with the corners, if they're curved). Stick figures would be fun, but I think we can do a bit more professional than that. I know we have some artsy types on here.
Either way, we can start discussing what cards should be in the deck. Here's what I went with for jeepfest:
Mafia family: Vito Corleone (godfather), Michael Corleone (godfather), Sonny, Fredo, Luca Brasi, Tom Hagen, Peter Clemenza, Tessio (traitor)
Werewolf family: Wolfman (godfather), Werebear, (American) Werewolf in London, Teenwolf, Oz, Remus Lupin, Furry (traitor)
Cult Leader: Dracula
Serial Killers: Hannibal Lecter, Jack the Ripper
(notes: all images copyrighted, so obviously we couldn't use them for this. Probably a more generic setup is better, I just thought I'd be cute with unique scum.)
Cop x 8 (sherlock holmes image)
Doctor x 4 (bones from star trek image)
Vigilante x 4 (gunslinger image)
Mason x 5 (perry mason image)
Deputy (backup cop, barney fife image)
Nurse (backup doc, sexy nurse image)
FBI Agent (clarice image)
Roleblocker x 2 (red light district image)
Innocent Townsperson x 16 (mob image)
Blank x 4
Card back: mafiascum.net/GL jeepstock 2005 image
That pretty much covered all the basics. Obviously there is plenty of room for mafiascum specific in-jokes that I simply didn't have time to impliment. The main concern is that there is plenty of flexibility to cover a wide range of game sizes.Last edited by mith on Fri Aug 04, 2006 5:04 pm, edited 1 time in total.-

And the ones I made do have a text description, though I think the conclusion I've come to after playing with them is that it's far more important to just go over what each card is and does before playing. A bit of a give away when someone spends way longer reading their card.Serial Killers: Hannibal Lecter, Jack the Ripper-

Shirts:
Setup: $60/color/location
Shirts: Depends on number of shirts ordered
As to Cards, I have some ideas on how to do this from my recent research into starting up a game prototyping business. I had planned on making up my own cards for the meet, I'm glad I didn't after seeing yours. If we get some artwork, I'll get a few samples made up and send out an estimated cost. CasinoPete can also probably get them done cheaper, since he works at a print shop. We could even get these professionally done at Carta Mundi (or elsewhere) if there is really enough interest.
