Random is just that, random. Recided by a die roll, or random.org.
'Random' votes are if I, for example, post "Vote: KMD for having a dumb avatar."

@zaz: I probably would have believed dcj's votes were based on his playing elsewhere, and woudl have been hesitant to vote him, even though he fit the mafiascum definition of scummy. however, his flipping scum proves that you can't give a pass to that kind of play.
