You have been invited to a dinner party on a remote island. The invitation was a little weird but who can pass up a free meal, right? On the night stand in your room you find a framed copy of an ominous rhyme:

Ten little Soldier boys went out to dine;
One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Nine little Soldier boys sat up very late;
One overslept himself and then there were eight.
Eight little Soldier boys traveling in Devon;
One said he'd stay there and then there were seven.
Seven little Soldier boys chopping up sticks;
.........

A dinner bell from downstairs interrupts your reading. You put down the frame and leave the room. Upon finding your seat at the dining room table, you can't help but notice that there is a little soldier figurine in front of you.

Once all the guests are seated, the dinner starts with a light appetizer. Minutes later, the guy at the end of the table starts coughing violently before collapsing on the floor. You recall the first rhyme with horror:

Ten little Soldier boys went out to dine;
One choked his little self and then there were nine.

So much for free food! You must figure out who is behind this murder and fast! You don't want to be next... do you??

  1. Remember that this is a

    . Have fun and treat the other players with respect. Excessive abuse, obscenity or verbal attacks will not be tolerated and will result in your replacement.
  2. This game is also a
    commitment
    . Please treat it as such, be active and make regular posts to keep the game moving.
  3. You may not quote private moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind. Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
  4. There is to be NO personal communication outside of the thread unless your role PM specifically allows it. Also, you may not talk to other people about this game outside of the thread. Players with roles allowing communication may only communicate outside the thread as directed in their role PM.
  5. If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to me by the posted deadline. If I do not receive your choice via PM by the posted deadline, you will forfeit your actions.
  6. I will prod you if you fail to make one post within a 72-hour period. You must respond to the prod
    in-thread
    within 48 hours of the prod or be replaced. If you fail to post within a 72-hour period for the third time, you will be replaced.
  7. Votes should be cast using the following format -
    vote: player.
    I will not count votes that are not
    bolded.
    If you choose to change your vote, please

  8. Lynching will require a majority of votes. You may
    vote: no lynch

  10. Each day will automatically have a set

In case of a tie, the person who reached that number of votes first will be the day's lynch. In cases where simply not enough votes were accumulated on a certain player, a no lynch will occur.
  12. During LYLO and other end-game situations, a majority of votes MUST be reached to lynch.

Lynch count has been reached!

As the paranoia among you mounted, some of you went after zwetschenwasser, claiming that it was he who poisoned that person at the dinner table.

"No! You're wrong! It wasn't me!", zwetschenwasser kept yelling, "I'm your cop, idiots!"

That seemed to subside the mob but only for a minute as they went after a new target, Darkcoffeejazz.

"It's him! For sure!" everyone encircled him. "Stop it! This is madness!", others tried to restore some order to the chaos.

Then SensFan picked up an axe that was leaning against the wall and, after not hearing much of a protest from the others, deftly chopped Darkcoffeejazz in half. As you stood frozen in shocked silence, SensFan looked around him and growled, "What? Were you just going to stand there and let him feed you lies as well??"

As the frenzy subsided, you start looking through Darkcoffeejazz's pockets to figure out if he was indeed behind the murder. In the inner pocket of his jacket you find a little book that lists everyone's information and the rhyme that you found in your room... except that the top rhyme is crossed out. You feel relief as you feel confident that the murderer among you has been discovered and put to justice.

As you look over the rhyme, one passage stands out:

Seven little Soldier boys chopping up sticks;
One chopped himself in halves and then there were six...

...So the axe that was casually left against the wall wasn't accidentally left there after all, though it seems it came into play a bit prematurely. Ah well, doesn't matter now -- you're safe and the killer is dead. Relieved, everyone retreats to their rooms for the night.

In the morning you wake up and go downstairs for breakfast. You slept well -- the kind of sleep that happens when you're no longer afraid for your life. As everyone sits down for breakfast, you notice that not everyone came down. One person is missing. After a quick check, you realize it's zwetschenwasser.

After repeated calls up to his room go unanswered, everyone goes upstairs to see why he wasn't answering. You walk into his room to find him sleeping. One of you tries to wake him up by shaking him by his shoulder.

Nothing.

A dark realization comes over you. You check zwetschenwasser's pulse.

There is none.

He's dead.

Everyone looks at each other with an unspoken accusation. One of you checks the pockets of his jacket and finds a badge there. Zwetschenwasser was telling the truth -- he really was a member of law enforcement.

Nine little Soldier boys sat up very late;
One overslept himself and then there were eight.

...or seven, in your case.

This is getting ridiculous. But at least you now know what you need to do. You must find Darkcoffeejazz's partner before you can feel safe. As you start replaying the events of the previous day in your head, one question keeps repeating:

Will you ever get to eat in this place?

Lynch count has been reached!

After prolonged screaming about who the killer could be, hewitt's arguments fell on deaf ears. He stormed out, not wanting to put up with all the insanity anymore.

Around lunch time, as everyone sits down to eat, you notice that hewitt still hasn't come back. You curse at the skies at this (the food looks delicious, especially since you haven't had a good warm meal in what seems like days!) and walk outside with everyone else to try and find him. It doesn't take long as you find him in the backyard, DEAD, from a blow to the back of his head.

Panic sets in and everyone starts searching the surrounding areas for the murderer or any possible hiding places.

After a few hours of fruitless searching, everyone comes together to report their findings (or lack thereof). However one of you seems to be missing... ZazieR. The group begins to search again, staying a little closer to each other this time. Your worst fears are confirmed when ZazieR's slightly deformed body is find, dead from what looks like an allergy to a bee sting.

Seven little Soldier boys chopping up sticks;
One chopped himself in halves and then there were six.
Six little Soldier boys playing with a hive;
A bumblebee stung one and then there were five.

It appears the killer is still following the cursed rhyme. Figurines also keep disappearing as the body count increases. This.. is.. madness! (not Sparta).

You return back to the house to try and figure out who the killer is.

That night one of you hears someone sneaking out of the house. As you quietly search the rooms, you find out that Kmd4390 is missing. You wait until morning to reveal this to the others and get ready to confront him when he comes back... only he never does.

Eventually, you go outside to look for him. As you search along the shore, you see Kmd4390's drowned body floating near the cliffs.

Four little Soldier boys going out to sea;
A red herring swallowed one and then there were three.


With horror you realize that this is your final chance to find the killer. A wrong decision means death!
