The original game is still bette rin my opinion. Yes, you have to deal with the really weird and, at times, truly fucked up ui, but the graphics hold up in a sorta 16-bit indi sorta way. They game is still great, the AI is still great, I would try the original before the remake. In post 363, xRECKONERx wrote:Haruummmmm...

Come to think of it, I've never been too much of a fan of remakes. I can't think of one remake that I have played that I liked better than the original.after a wank.-

yeah, but would they make more money by selling hte console separate? money is money don't you know. If what bat is saying is true then they should lower the price of the console or unbundle it in order to best deal with the, apparently, elastic demand. In post 370, Zachrulez wrote:

Just got far cry 2, I'm loving the existential overtones. Excellently set up game. The faded/washed out graphics style fits perfectly for the story being told. I love the duel between the two of you, both aspiring to be the stronger. I love how everyone else is nameless, this really adds to the whole strong/weak thing prominent in the work quoted at the beginning of the game (Beyond Good and Evil). I also find it interesting how the buddy system plays with this theme. You want to be a strong lone-wolf, but you still get help from others.after a wank.-

So I beat mafia II. An otherwise great game that seemed like it lacked one or two missions at the end. I think production on this game must have been cut short. Because is the PC going to sit back and lay low after they killed his best friend after he MURDER 100s of people for less? I think not. So one game down several more to go for this bundle... yay.after a wank.-

So I'm playing Bioshock 1 right now and I think this game is a piece of shit. I hate this game. At first I thought I would like it. More maze like. More oldschool. But no, this game is shit. 1 hour in and I'm done with this game. And here is why:
The fucking vita chambers can suck my dick. Either do checkpoints correctly or not all. Period. end of story. I thought, hay, normal check point system so I don't have to quick save my game, right? "NOPE, AND FUCK YOU" says the game. SO I fight the first big daddy and lose because that is what happens wen you fight a new enemy... and where does it spawn me after death? All the way across the fucking map. But I didn't get pissed off because I found out I was right by the exit to the next level, "sweet, this system works!" but the game retorts, "No, fuck you, go back and kill the big daddy because you need 'adam' otherwise you are going to be underpowered, so go back you stupid fuck." I say, "okay whatever, I have ap bullets, so fine, suck my dick big daddy". So I walk back and find where he was and he was half health like a left him, "cool this vita system works! even though it was badly place it is cool!!!" The game responds, "No fuck you, fight another one. Yeah, I'll replay the same scripted moment for you so go kill it again. Fuck you, I hate you player." So fine, no more AP bullets left, but I've played a shit ton of this type of game so the damage I do doesn't matter, I can dodge it all day and ping away at it with normal bullets. So reincarnated big daddy goes down. Now where is the little sister that I fought this bitch for. "Hahahahahahah" says the game, "You see now I bugged up the game for you so you can't find her. Fuck you. I made you waste all of your ammo, health kits, and magic potions. How do you like dem apples ass hole?" At this point I quit the game. Because any game that tells me to go do something and then bugs out after having me walk halfway through an empty level that responds enemies that I have already killed can give me a blow job while sticking three fingers up my anus while singing hail to the chief all while pissing itself.
So yeah, fuck bioshock. It is a stupid game that is poorly designed and sure as hell never play tested outside of the dev team. SO fuck whoever made this piece of shit. I hate your guts. Maybe I'll play bioshock 2. Maybe they get better as they go along.after a wank.-

as someone who doesn't even like FPSes much this is all still pretty clear to me
Any game that has respawning enemies on normal difficulty that relies on back tracking is not a well thought out game. Any game that tells you to walk through the maze backwards after a checkpoint is not a well thought out game. Any game that respawns enemies after death and keeps the old ones there is not a well thought out game. Any game that tells you will be underpowered unless you walk backwards through a maze you just finished is not a well thought out game. The game is basically an attempt at making DOOM meets System Shock 2 and fails epically.after a wank.-

Also, free keys in the steam IDs thread...
But the reason I'm not getting the bundle is I already have tropico 4 and Truck simulator. Both are very, very good and worth it Chevre. I got Dues Ex from picard in steam IDs. Kane and lynch suck. I have just cause 2 already. The new Dues Ex game is a wash for me. SO the $15 is out already.
The only game in the $8 version I really look forward to is hitman because I have never played one of those. But hit man is in the $1 version. But even then I'm really just getting it for thief which will just sit in my steam for a year until I realize I have it. So yeah, I'll wait for the other games to come out, but as it stands I'm probably going to pass.after a wank.-

Yeah, but it isn't worth $15 when I still have all the bioshock games to play, Just cause 2 to play, XCOM to finish, and specops the line to enjoy. That's at least 150+ hours of content. Okay here is a list of games I want to play in the near future but haven't had time to yet.
Just Cause 2
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
Deus Ex
Finish the NEW xcom
Xcom Apocalypse because that was a game that I always saw/heard about but never played.
Bioshock 1 and Infinite (in spite of my rage)
Tropico 4
Divinity 2
Sid Meier's Alpha Centari (again... but I want to play on a harder difficulty)
I know this list is not as big a list as yours but I, like Parama, tend to spend more time than the average play through. I like to explore the game and usually play on a harder than "normal" difficulty level for a first playthrough.after a wank.-

Sorry, it was 14. Again, I took my time and played on the hardest difficulty for half the game. Then I got annoyed by the bad choice of key bindings so I toned it down. I also got more than half of the intel and listened to all of it (probably added 30 mins to the game).after a wank.-

@who... I disagree with that being the best first shot. Predicated on the fact that I came into the game having little knowledge of celestial physics and just an interest cultivated in SPACE by an engineer dad whowasis a space nut.
With that said, I think for a first landing Mun is a better approach for a noob like me. Higher gravity is a good thing as long as your final engine can escape the gravity of the Mun (mine can). This is due to the Pull of "Earth" and the fact that there is not atmosphere on Mun. I can escape the Mun easy, but landing on it is more difficult because it requires more accurate orbital calculations to get there. Higher gravity = more forgiving.
Now, this is all given the fact that the pull of the earth from minmus is further away and thus the relative gravity maybe greater on minmus because of this distance. But for now, I'm happy to try a Mun landing for historical reasons as well as the shit ton of contracts I have for it. Again, Career mode.

Goddamn that is some pretty advanced shit going on. I was happy to land on the Mun today and get back in one piece. I have a pretty good rocket and I think with just a few modifications I can use existing parts and get to minmus pretty easily. Right now I want to go to Mun one more time with a few modifications to the lander and the third stage (the one that sets the intercept and initiates orbit around mun).
After that I'm going to minmus. And then after that docking. That shit is intimidating.after a wank.-

Multiple engines and maybe four boosters.
My current rocket has 4 engines and 4 boosters for the first stage. second stage is three engines. Third stage is one engine. Last stage is a tiny engine with the lander pod. Seems to work fine. Remember: bigger on the bottom. You want your rocket to get drastically lighter each stage. That's the trick.after a wank.-
