I'm looking at aceofspades' ISO. I'm almost certain Antihero would scum read this because of the stench of indecision it gives off, the weakness in convictions, and voting pattern.

To me, there's nothing I see in the ISO that cannot be accounted for by a simple falling behind and staying on the defensive. If I had to make an educated guess, this is why the aceofspades wagon exists in the first place. I think realistically, the chances of spades flipping scum is random, if not slightly below. There are a few things I see that my intuition tells me is more likely to come from town than not.

I'll vote him to avoid a no lynch, but I'd like to look at beasts' and whoever else's ISOs first.

It sounds like an AI wrote these.

The consistency of the reads is very strange. They're mostly constant, but the changes are out of place and don't necessarily follow from the goings on in the game thread at least. One example of this is the reads on his neighbors: BRantz and -Blonde-. Post 284, he indicates a scum read on -Blonde-. It magically transforms into a townread in Post 644 when his neighborhood suddenly becomes "all town." The only post from -Blonde- in the interim was Post 424 asking for a summary and that's hardly alignment indicative. For all the defense Metal throws into the thread, he never once reinforces the defense with references to any events occurring in the neighborhood. As a result, his defense is feckless and doesn't have any teeth. It's characteristic of the calculated inaction defense that seems to be a go-to for scum.

The response to bitmap's initial attack doesn't suggest innocence either. Metal bypasses arguments in favor of going straight for credibility in Post 320. The "read" on bitmap doesn't look genuine as it quickly evolved from a counterattack ("bitmap you look a bit scummy") to a discredit ("bitmap is a known VI"). Those two arguments aren't really compatible and the transition from one to the other suggest that the reads is being used as a form of defense, which is scummy. The quick change of tone to conciliatory is also weird (Post 799) and coincidental with bitmap's vig claim. Serious or not, I have to think that was the cause of Metal's awfully quick attitude adjustment and it stands in pretty stark contrast with the attitude expressed earlier that bitmap is a shit player.

The response after the exchange with TSO and beastcharizard starting around Post 563 is also scummy. I saw that another player talked about a situation in a recent game with Metal Sonic accidentally scumreading a mason and I have to think that if he were really concerned about doing it again, he wouldn't actually out in the thread that he thought they were masons. Effectively, that would net the same results as his play in the previous game so to suggest his behavior here is a result of that experience is to suggest that either Metal Sonic is really bad at learning lessons or he wasn't actually influence by what happened in that game at all.

As Antihero already pointed out, the votes are pretty bad and not well supported.

Antihero and I disagree in a few regions of our reads lists (most notably Cephrir and Solar Wind), but we currently have overlapping townreads on: Magua, Bitmap, Xombie, TiphaineDeath, Imperium, theaceofspades, mastin2, Aeronaut, The Mask, RachMarie, vezokpiraka, and FourTrouble. I think that's a good point to start from.

TSO is definitely playing more of a bystander role in this game than I'm used to. I didn't care for the BRantz/Skybird slot on my first read through but that's a read that needs revisiting. Ankamius is as well. I thought he was slightly scummy but it was mostly from intuition and nothing solid (I don't like basing reads on that). There's also that Antihero seemed to think he was slightly town on his first read through. PeregrineV is another tricky one. Both Anti and I thought he was town-ish on our first once-over which makes me feel better about that read since at least I wasn't the only one who picked up on the same vibes, but again for me that was mostly based on intuition.

I think farside is more likely scum than not here.

From the beginning, the pushes are not good and despite her claims, I think farside was definitely going after the low-hanging fruit here. The Rach case was kind of sort of there if you looked at it in the right light, but I think farside's aggressiveness is disproportionate to the strength of the case. The Xombie case wasn't ever really there at all and the only explanation it ever seemed to get was a confusing couple sentences in Post 521. The lack of a healthy global view of the game is also concerning, as seen in Post 536. Her only scumreads at that point were one low-poster and one newbie? I'm very skeptical of the profile of this scum list she has going at that point.

A good portion of the remainder of her ISO is taking shots at little things and making pushes that require a little stretching to make it work. PeregrineV's behavior seems consistent with someone who has trouble keeping up with a game this fast paced and from where I'm sitting it looks like it could go either way. The push on ooba isn't any good either. Neither is the push on theaceofspades. The strained-angle pushes just start to pile up the further you go in farside's ISO and they pretzel twist on each other when you get to how the scum read on Rach starts interacting with the scum read on theaceofspades.

I forgot you wanted to have a conversation about farside. I had a strong sense that farside was town Yesterday and rereading her posts I still have her as strong town. There's a few things I like about her play but it comes down to her tone (a level of conviction that matches up very well with what she's saying/doing) and her questions (showing her intent to figure things out).

413, 414, and the vote in 419 felt 100% town. I felt the same about Rach until I gave it more thought. And I gave it more thought in large part because you were townreading her and I was trying to understand where that townread came from, and that's something I don't think farside would do the way I did because I she doesn't have the same history that I have with you. I like the questions in 488; they look like town trying to figure out TD's alignment + the alignments of the folks TD attacked. 513 also feels like a genuine attempt to figure Rach out. And 600's questions feel like town, too. farside's asking questions that resonate with me (they're questions that I had or questions that I wanted answered after they were asked), so they feel very much like town.

Also, not only do farside's questions have direction, but she's asking way more questions than I think scum would ask. Just looking at number of questions relative to number of posts, farside's probably has a higher question-post ratio than any other player here. It feels like town trying to get a grasp on the game and understand how others think about the game much more than scum faking a bunch of a questions re: anything that catches their eye. Admittedly, I'm biased because this is how I approach the game as town (I read the game looking for scum, and ask questions to understand things that I think will help me figure shit out, and one of the big differences between my play as town or scum is the quality/amount of the questions I ask), but even given that bias, I still think this is a huge town-tell, because it shows how farside is approaching the game. Because scum are informed, scum generally approach the game from the perspective that they have to fake scumreads; town, on the other hand, approach the game trying to figure stuff out. As a result, I think town are much more likely to ask as many questions as farside's been asking, especially given the quality of her questions (they're not just random/meaningless questions; they pretty clearly have direction and show a depth to her thought process that I don't think scum can just go and fake).

Re: farside's pushes -- I think the way she kept coming back to Ace felt very natural, both tonally and in relation to the gamestate. For example, 1422; the phrasing "okay back to ace for a moment" is so town, and the follow up looks much more like a town tunnel than a scum tunnel. As to the push on Rach, it made sense, especially based on the way farside plays (farside's has a lot of conviction as town and wants to be right, so she's a hardcore tunneler, and that's kind of what you see with the way she reads Ace/Rach on D1). Also, I didn't say anything about this earlier because it was't something I feel confident about and it's just my own thoughts, but I've had my own suspicions about Rach the entire game for similar reasons as farside, so to me that push made tons of sense. farside explains it very well, so if you think it's nonsense, I don't really know what to tell you other than I think you're biased because you're reading Rach as town, and she's really not very town unless you've played with her before. Also, note that the tone and emotion in 1868, 1870, 1906, and 1907 feels extremely town -- e.g. saying something like "it's like you didn't even read my case" and then apologizing for feeling "annoyed" is very genuine.

I dunno. I went through farside's ISO and there's nothing there that town wouldn't do or say, and there's nothing there that strikes me as scummy; her level of investment, her tone, her play in general, just makes too much sense as town and not much sense as scum.

I don't think any of the questions you linked were particularly hard hitting or difficult to fake as scum. I also think there's a lot left to be proven on theaceofspades' case.

A quick thing off the top of my head: theaceofspades' double vote ability. As scum, I would have to think he would save it for later rather than blow it on a day 1 lynch he knew wouldn't flip mafia anyway. That seems like a serious strategic misstep to me.

Rather the opposite, I actually think that it's quite possible or even probable that scum, being aware of who scum are, are more sensitive to scumslips their partners make and jump on them more than actual town would...thus, they bus, figuring only a matter of time before the masses move against theace. It's something to keep in mind about Ceph (sometime, I really need to buckle down and sort him fully), but Rach is the real stand-out name, here.

The problem I'm having with this is that the idea behind this theory is that scum were bussing and then suddenly stopped for no apparent reason. Why would you bus and then 48 hours to deadline suddenly decide to not bus any more? It doesn't make much sense.
