Challenge 4: Ransom Is As Ransom Does
« on: July 05, 2020, 05:15:40 pm »

I know you are all busy getting to know your new tribes, but unfortunately crime doesn't take a vacation. Apparently the main admin of the website Mafiascum.net, a guy named Zoraster, has been kidnapped and the kidnappers are demanding payment in exchange for his safe return.  We have a copy of the note the kidnappers sent to his family, and we want you all to look it over for clues.

When your tribe is ready to start, we will post a copy of the letter in your tribal forum.  The letters and words have been cut out from various websites, logos, and other sources of text.  You must, as a tribe, submit a bolded list of as many sources as you can.  You will score 1 point for each correct source. However, you will lose two points for every incorrect source, so don't bother just listing all the sources you can think of.

The tribe with the highest score will win immunity. In the event of a tie, the tribe that submits in the shortest amount of time will win.  Good luck, and hurry! The fate of Mafiascum depends on it!

(And by "hurry" we mean "we are giving you an extra 24 hours to meet your tribemates and schedule a time)

You may use outside sources, but you are NOT allowed to use Reverse Google Image Search or any similar technologies!

How much specificity are you looking for in our answers? If you pull some text from, say, a particular page on Wikipedia, would saying that the source is Wikipedia be sufficient or would we need to specify what Wikipedia page it came from?

It will be very obvious the sort of thing we are going for once you see the note.

I have good news! Zoraster is officially safe; we were able to use the clues you all gathered to track down the kidnappers.  You are all a credit to the force.

However, one of your teams is slightly less of a credit to the force than the other one, so somebody is about to be fired.

First of all, how many mistakes did you each make?
The Behavioral Analysis Unit thought that the Wayfair logo actually belonged to the University of Washington.
The Special Victims Unit did not make any mistakes!

What about the time?
I'm not looking up the exact minutes and seconds because I'm lazy, but SVU wins the tiebreak

It all comes down to how many correct answers each team got.
The BAU scored: 111 correct, with their penalty knocking them down to 109.
The SVU scored...
106 correct. Not good enough! The BAU wins immunity!

SVU, you know what rules apply here: the ones about Tribal Council. See you there.
