Another attempt at a setup with an IC mechanic, this time with a power role chosen by vote. IC means either Innocent Child or Inexperience Challenged depending on your viewpoint.

Cop and Doctor should be equivalent in the setup, the Bulwark exists as a flashy high swing option
considering the setup might be townsided, I'm considering giving the Mafia a Jailkeeper as well.
If Bulwark is still too weak despite being able to both get a guilty and prevent a kill in this setup, I'd actually go for Town Roleblocker as one of the potential Town Power Role choices.
Seems like a relatively unfun setup if doctor is chosen. It's optimal for the IC to direct lims so the mason doesn't get outed, and the IC won't be killable for a while. Especially since whoever signed up as IC probably wants to lead the town.
Cop version is less problematic but also, as Ircher pointed out, pretty townsided.
It's always the same. When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know whose children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken. How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning... SIT DOWN AND TALK!
The voting mechanic feels pretty weird for a newbie game, I feel like the newbies would feel drowned out during that decision phase by people who know more about mechanics (not to mention the IC).
Bulwark probably should be roleblocker. It would still be the weakest of the three choices, and it's both a simpler and a more common role to introduce newbies to.

I was hoping the voting mechanic would enable mechanic discussion and setup spec. The alternative would be having the power role pick a power during pregame, but not sure how that would work out in a setup that is meant to be newbie-friendly.
I'm wondering if these changes would be good for the setup:
Replace one of the Mafia Goons with a Mafia Roleblocker
Change the Town Power Role choices to Bodyguard, Cop, and Roleblocker
hopefully Bodyguard allows for a protective role choice while not being too centralizing
Is the bodyguard not just gonna guard the IC and die N1?

Would definitely go 1 shot over indecisive because multiple successful protections is backbreaking for scum and the interesting Nash Equilibrium choice still exists with 1 shot.
Also, 1 shot is the more common/easily explained modifier, even if indecisive is pretty simple.

would you want 1-shot doctor be one of the Town Power Role choices if the Mason already is a 1-shot doctor?
not sure what I could add to balance it, maybe scum should have a roleblocker in this setup
Combining the mason and the power role is an answer to needing fewer named roles in a smaller game. In a 13p I'd definitely keep them separate. Actually, thinking about it indecisive is probably better balanced in a 13p anyway, I was still somewhat in the 8p headspace thinking of limited days for the setup to run.

okay, so indecisive doctor as a role choice, but remove 1-shot doctor from the mason for this setup?
