Provable randomness
- is against the rules. Saying that you rolled a dice is fine, using dice tags or random.org is not.
Claiming scum
- by yourself is fine. Claiming scum with another player is against the rules.
Cryptography
- is forbidden. Breadcrumbing is okay.
Confirmation
- You have about 72 hours to confirm your role and your alignment by PM. Game will start sooner if everyone confirms. Posting in a private topic counts as confirmation.
Days
- Days last 10/7 days. Extensions may be granted if there are replacements, or if the majority of players make it clear to me that an extension is desired.
Activity
- You must post at least once every 36 hours or I will Prod you. You then have 24 hours to post in the game thread or I will replace you. If you come back before I find a replacement, you can stay. The activity timers run at half-speed on weekends. Players can request me to prod somebody early. This will only count as an official prod if you don't post before you would have been due for a prod. If you haven't posted in the 24 hours before the thread is locked for night, you must reply to the night start PM or you will be replaced during the night. If you accumulate 4 prods, you are then force replaced.
Vacation/Limited Access
If you need to be absent for longer than this, you should declare V/LA in bold in the thread like this:
@Mod: I will be v/la until Thursday
. While you are V/LA, you will be nudged once every 54 hours. Two nudges equals one prod. If you have not posted game advancing content in 5 days, regardless of V/LA status, you will be replaced.
Quoting
- You may not quote (or copy paste) any private information into the thread, including your role PM and any mod communication.
Voting
- Votes must be in bold in the format VOTE: GeorgeBailey or Vote: GeorgeBailey. Strong preference for using vote tags instead of bold tags. Unvotes are nice but not required. If I think it’s a vote, it’s a vote, no tricks. Type VOTE: GeorgeBailey to vote and UNVOTE: GeorgeBailey to unvote.
Eliminate
- Days end early when a simple majority of players (50% of living players + 1 rounded down) vote to eliminate somebody. If a majority is not reached at deadline or if a majority of the players vote for no eliminate, the day will end without a elimination. At evens, 50% is sufficient for no elimination.
Twilight
- Begins when a majority is reached and lasts until I lock the thread. You're still alive until I flip you so you can talk in any game threads you have access to until then, but no votes or unvotes will be counted.
Night
- Night lasts at least 48 hours. The night phase can be shortened if every living player -- even those with no night actions -- agrees to it and if I'm not busy.
Action submissions
- You may submit actions via PM (if town) or PT (if scum). If the actions are not submitted by the deadline then you do nothing. You can change your mind as many times as you like before the deadline.
Reminders
- If I don't hear from you about your night actions, I'll PM you 24 hours before the deadline. This doesn't count as a prod. If I still don't hear from you, you will take no action.
Notes PT
- Let me know if you want a private thread to store your thoughts and feedback for the other players. This thread will be made public immediately after the game. You may draft posts in your notes PT but you may not talk about your notes PT in public. You definitely may not use the notes PT to demonstrate that you've had a town mindset in private all along; just put your town mindset in public to begin with and keep your notes to yourself.

Chain of Command with tweaks in an effort it make it balanced (Thanks to popsofctown and Datisi!)
This is a 9p Open Theme setup. In this game, a "Captain" will tell the various Power Roles in the game what to do during the night. Subsequently, you have the option to "
Obey
" or "
Disobey
" orders. If you obey, you will go through with the action. If you disobey, the action will not happen. Be warned though, the Captain will be notified when an order has been disobeyed! The captain only knows ''what'' the PRs are, not ''who'' they are. Aside from normal roles, every player has a "Rank". They are:
1 Captain
1 Commander
1 Lieutenant
6 Ensigns
Structure:
The Mafia team is composed of 2 players who are randomly assigned to any rank and role in the game (They can be officers. If either of them are officers the secondary win condition does not apply). They have two win conditions A) outnumber the town/endgame them or B) kill the entire officer command structure (Captain, Commander, and Lieutenant). There are 6 random possible power roles in this game. However, only 3 (randomly decided) are actually in the game. The rest are Vanilla. Also, you know there cannot be multiple instances of one role. They are:

Additional Role Notes;
1. All results are given to the players, not the Captain.
2. During the pregame random role assignment, if the Captain is given a PR, there will only be 2 PRs in the game.
3. If the Captain orders someone besides him to self-target, it will be as if he did not send in an action for that role.
4. When a player has been ordered to perform an action they will receive this message: "Your captain has ordered you to Bodyguard Faraday. Will you follow orders? Will you Obey or Disobey?" (not choosing will result in a 50/50 coinflip as to whether you'll obey or disobey) And remember, the Captain (and only the captain) will know if you've disobeyed orders. He will not know YOU the player disobeyed, only the role. In this instance, he'd know the Bodyguard disobeyed.
5. Scum PRs can Action + Use the factional NK.
6. Scum has Day/Night Talk
All role PMs have been sent out (in the order of the signup list so timestamps mean nothing)! Everyone has also confirmed so the game will be starting in about 5 minutes.

But if you're just taking the first one then what discussion can we have? There's only one choice they can make. Even if you are just picking "randomly" there will be human error for people to analyze because I don't think you're allowed to use a R.N.G. in this game. If you just pick from the top of a list there is no real choice involved. So if that's true, maybe Datisi is hiding something, and maybe (I'm not saying this is true) that something is that he is a mafia?
