It's not as if we have previous day's posts to guide our decisions. It looks pretty random to me, although the speed of the IH 'wagon' is interesting.

IF in fact the bells can be used very powerfully, they might be aiding the scum as much as they can help the town. So yeah, I think it's worthwhile to get it right here.

I think we can guess that it'll take at least 5 bells to get something really useful (that's the highest amount on offer at the moment, for a net) and there's probably items with values greater than 5 bells. If people save bells for even one day + night period they can probably pick up something of around 5 bells value. I don't think it's necessary to look any deeper than that as I'm getting into outguessing-the-mod territory here anyway, but it looks clear to me that 2 bells can actually be quite a lot in context.
