Newbie 293: Immune System Mafia - GAME OVER

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Wed Dec 27, 2006 11:02 am

Post by Mgm »

Game Status: Game over!

A non-descript person somewhere in the world is being invaded by malicious pathogens. Can their immune system ward off the thread, or will they succumb to the invading bugs? Only time will tell...

Active (5)

Mr Finch
Hemisphere Dancer
Skruffs
Y.C

Inactivated, Victim of phagocytosis or otherwise removed (2)

Twito (red blood cell, townie)
Zindaras (red blood cell, townie)

For this game I will use ONE of the following setups:
1) 2 mafia, 5 townies
2) 2 mafia, 1 cop, 4 townies
3) 2 mafia, 1 doctor, 4 townies
4) 2 mafia, 1 cop, 1 doctor, 3 townies

The mafia members received the following PMs:
Virus - MAFIA
You are an evil virus and together with bacterium (XXXX) you are trying to infect your host, disable his immune system and kill him. Each night you can talk to each other. After you have discussed your tactics, one of you should send a private message to me, the moderator, that says which player you want to see killed in the morning. You win when the non-evil players cannot outnumber you during voting.
Bacterium - MAFIA

You win when the non-evil players cannot outnumber you during voting.
Townies received the following PM:
Red blood cell - TOWNIE
You are an ordinary red blood cell without any special powers beyond your wits and your vote. You win when the mafia has been eliminated.
If the cop is in the game, they received the following PM:
White blood cell - COP
You are the cops among the cells. Each night you can send me, the moderator, the name of one fellow player to determine if they're an evil pathogen or not. The next morning I will send you message telling you the result of your investigation. You win when the mafia has been eliminated.
If the doctor is in the game, they received the following PM:
Antibody - DOCTOR
You are the body's protector. Each night you can send me, the moderator, the name of one fellow player. This player will be protected from an attack on their life that night. You win when the mafia has been eliminated.
You all have the following text at the bottom of your role PM:
If you have any questions about the game, feel free to ask me.
Have a nice game.

Rules (taken from Thok)

[1] Each day you may try to lynch somebody. A lynch requires a total number of votes that is strictly more than half the people alive. A normal lynch is unrevocable. If necessary, I will install a deadline; a deadline lynch requires either half the number of votes of a normal lynch or 2 votes, whichever is greater.

[2] Please bold your votes and unvotes as in
vote: Mgm
. I would appreciate it if you include the name of any person you unvote, but I do not require it.

[3] No talking outside the thread during the day. You may only talk outside the thread at night if it is part of your role (i.e. if you're mafia).

[4] Do not edit your posts. Do not use code=black tags or size=normal tags. Do not hack into mafiascum's php code in order to install invistext or spoiler tags; moreover if somebody does so, do not use invistext or spoiler tags.

[5] Do not quote the mod. Do not fake-quote the mod.

[6] Once you are dead, you are dead. You may post a simple "Bah!" post, but no game related content.

[7] Try to be relatively civil to each other. I know you're trying to kill each other, but that's no reason to insult somebody's mother.

[8] I am the mod, but I do (very) occasionally make mistakes. If you think I have made a mistake, please send me a PM.

[9] I will try to put up a vote count each page or so.

[10] I reserve the right to modkill anyone who breaks any of these rules. If you're in doubt if something is allowed, PM me.

Because not looking at your role PM is a pretty scummy thing to do. You also linked to Glork's profile in your quote and not your own...

I did, yes. It took a lot of thought to try to determine who was the most suspicious out of the 6 people who are not me in this game.
Y.C - a valid point. My avatar *DOES* look like a gigantic germ, doesn't it. :P However, considering other avatars in this game are a kangaroo and an englishman, I wouldn't hold that as a scum tell. Mr Finch's avatear is presumably too small for us to see - if you squint at the little blue arrow you can se that it's pointing to a discolored pixel.
If it would make you guys feel better I can change my avatar to a picture of the pope wearing a red hat. I'd hate to be lynched because of visual discrimination.

Hmm. I find it particularly suspicious that you are entirely basing your suspicions on me with me having previously only posting twice in the whole forum!

Hmm. Again!

FoS: Skruffs
because you are an engineer who can't spell algorithm.

By the way, my avatar is not too small, it's a magical one that is invisible to scum.

We learned in 'footloose' about the scumminess of dancing. I have to wonder about the integrity of someone who claims to have danced, not in teh sanctity of their own home, but rather the whole of an entire hemisphere? So much travel must certainly bring one into contact of Germs... o.o

Huh? Skruffs m'dear, you must not know much about Jimmy Buffett. The Hemisphere Dancer is the name of one of his planes. It's sitting out in front of Margaritaville at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. In Florida. :P

vote: Skruffs
for being ignorant of the greatness that is Jimmy Buffett! :P (and for having a creepy Katamari avvy. The King of All Cosmos is CREEPY I tell ye!)

(And just to clear the air a bit, I can't dance worth a flip. Besides, this name is a pleasant change from my usual 'net names. Ah... two people I know from elsewhere have different names on here. At least two.)

(PS- Guess I popped in a little late. Sorry 'bout that; it's around the Holidays and the family beats me away from the computer with a stick.)

(I use parenthesis too much.)

Hemisphere Dancer, my apologies :D I used to drink in one of the Margaritavilles, the one in the keys, 6 or so years ago
Thank you for recognizing my avatar :D
Unfortunately I also noticed I'm now two votes away from lynch. I think this will be a very short game.
Unvote

After the waters are a little cooler I'll interrogate the next person in line (me) but that would mean putting a vote on myself which would put me one vote away from lynching. I don't want to do that just yet so I think I will just chill instead...

:3 You have been redeemed. But the avvy is still creepy.

So... the other two that haven't posted yet. Are they newbs or vets?

noice! I've completed in one game, though I got night killed, and am playing in this one and Open 2 - where I replaced in , and I replaced in to another game. I don't think that makes me a vet but I have died in-game before so I've gotten over that emotional trauma.
It's a very fun game and I wish all the newbs the best of luck in A) finding the scum and B) avoiding being caught as scum, whichever the case may be.
Tahdah! I now have the eye of the tiger.

96th, wow. I *almost* voted you first because your name is the shortest and thus the easiest to type... That's about it. About as valid as your green avatar vote :D

That's what I thought, at first. Then I saw you describe the avatar as "the eye of the tiger", so now I hear that damn song every time I see it.

Tell you what: I'll shift my vote as soon as I feel real suspicion towards someone.

Of course. He is the one I got the idea from. My quote is from the thread where you sign in for newbie games.

Read Glorks profile: "I plan on playing my next Mini Normal Game without reading my role PM."
