Mini 80 - Shakespeare Mafia! (Finished)

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Wed Dec 17, 2003 12:40 pm

Post by Wacky »

WACKY:
Welcome to Generic Castle, new home to th’ Royal Court. To thine left, thou wilt observe thine average magical forest to th’ north, and a beach of convenience to th’ left. Will’t pleased thou to walk to the end thus? Masters, the living quarters. Some have said that t’is haunted by a ghost of a slain nobleman. Sirs, masters, thou knowest it well, for thou wert there. Twas’ the day before last...

The cursed assassin of most devious nature jumped at the king, like a ‘raged bull, and the good nobleman slain in his defense, alas. The king has been missing since and all have masked their rank and name by way of wearing the same class of clothes, that of ordinary noblemen, making identification all but impossible.

(In the Jacobean era there were strict laws regarding clothing between the classes (royal purple, for example), and wearing different clothes was essentially being a different person. Since actors were already pretenders, having them dress up as different people was a premise for many a play. E.g. Rosalind, from As You Like It, who would have been a boy playing a girl dressed as a boy.)

But I digress. Ghosts are but a fig of fops, so let not that disturb your slumber, reverend –[enter GHOST]

GHOST:

Ooooooh! Oooooooooooooooooooooooh. Scareeeeeeeeeeeeee..... Avenge meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

WACKY:
Holy friggin crap! I’m outa here. [runs away in a rush and exits]

GHOST:
Hey, wait up! I haven’t told you who killed meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!

[exuent left]

Regular rules (again, stolen from MeMe)

Rules:
  • Votes must be in
    bold
. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
  • Please be attentive and “unvote,” if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not required, but I’d appreciate it.
  • Executions will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. You may
    vote: no lynch
    – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
  • The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.
  • Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing. Of course a post death “Bah” or something like that is acceptable.
  • Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts
  • Don’t quote any PMs from me.
  • If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me, tough! No choice will be made.
  • If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
  • Remember, it’s a game. It’s supposed to played. It’s supposed to be fun. Do your part.
Acknowledgements for this post: MeMe

Special Rules of This Game

Suicide
Most of you have suicidal feelings
Anyway. You can decide to kill yourself
During any night, with or without night acts.

(i.e. you can commit suicide during the night in addition to any night actions)

Value System

To mark success or failure London’s system
Is stolen. Some are sane, and good. Others, well...

(Example value system of Servant 1(townie) (source material where not obvious):

+3 for win
+1 for survival
+1 for each anti-town player you vote off (you have to be voting for that person when he/she is lynched)

All players have are capped at 8 points max.)

The mod, is glad at heart and can give points
Where points are due, (maximum three), reward
Those blessed with the soft phrase of iambic
Pentameter, and pure genius of IS.

(The mod reserves the right to assign up to 3 points in case I totally messed up the balance or someone gives a grandstanding performance, or does Shakespearean speech (Iambic or Trochaic or whatever) or any mod mistakes which mess up the game for someone)

Quoting of the mod

All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players
They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts,
his acts being seven ages

-As You Like It

(If I quote shakespeare or someone else, you may quote that quote. Not the rest of it that I wrote though. Paraphrasing is okay.)

Other

Deadlines, if set, can be varied if discussion picks up, and if early game, will be highest vote first dies, if late game, will result in no-lynches.

Town and mafia “wins” requires someone to be alive at the end. However, if everyone is dead, people get half the points that they would get if they win, e.g. Mr. random servant above gets 1.5 for it.

2 Things.

Wacky is back, and stuff. Missing a few confirms.

A number of mod mistakes (possibly a record) were made in the PMing sending. Should you have questions, do PM me.

Prologue

[A soothsayer enters and annoys everyone]

SOOTHSAYER:

Beware the Ides of March!

[enter guards]

GUARDS:

Okay now. Nobody wants to hurt you, crazy man. Just - [they jump on the Soothsayer and drag him offstage]

WACKY:

Hold on. That was MeMe. MeMe's always right.
We should return her to this place and stuff.

Does it happen? Hell no. There was some mixup and confusion with a witch and
MeMe, Soothsayer
is all dead. The Soothsayer had a 1 time ability to ask a yes/no question and get an answer.

WACKY:

Death and damnation! I think we need a
Head count! Where is CD? Where is CD?

[someone hands him a CD.]

Okay, that didn't even make sense, so I'll just break it to you. Some thugs went and executed
CurtainDog
, aka Layabout
Prince Hal (townie)
by some kind of royal decree. And look, his ghost!

[runs off]

ACT I

Scene: Random generic place.
With 10 alive, its 6 to lynch!

Hmm.
Just to get this out in the open, it seems that the dead were roles that had no full names. (ie. Romeo Montague..)
Could anyone let me know as to which play Prince Hal is from?

Also, my role is named as is the play he is from, are we to assume that those without names are minor roles? (ie. Soothsayer-kinda cop)

Based on my extensive knowledge of Shakespeare (and a quick search of IMDB), I think he is from Henry IV.

God, I think "Soothsayer" is actually the character's name. There are a few Soothsayers in Shakespeare's works, methinks.... the one I remember is the guy from Julius Ceasar -- "Beware the Ides of March!" and all that. I think it would be pretty funny if Wacky had included "2nd Citizen" or something like that in the game.

To clarify, Soothsayer is both the character's name and the name of the role (See Blinvitational Revealed). And I forgot to mention that the answer was, like the Blinvitational, in-thread.

I think we should collectively come up with a list of would-be scum characters in a small game like this. Anyone exceptionally familiar with shakespeare?

Well It's a minigame. So if I were you zoneace i would only look in the most recognized plays since there are only going to be 3 (max 4) villians in the game.

Anyone think that Tybault would be one? What about Claudius?

For those not familiar,
Tybault is Juliet's cousin from R+J.
Claudius is Hamlet's uncle from Hamlet.

Also, there is a good chance that in a themed game like this one we will have at least one role-name cop. This is why at least one of the mafia (the GF usually) will not be a character that is usually construed as evil in the plays. (See Cartoon Network Mafia... my role...)
Just thought I'd get that out there..
