Tournament - (WAG) - Challenge Round 2

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Fri Jan 02, 2009 7:26 am

Post by Max »

I’m looking for eight players to play a game.

The Game:

A chess tournament and a poker tournament were accidentally scheduled for the same place at the same time. The players that had signed up for the various tournaments are understandably confused, but they have decided to go on, combining the two tournaments into one. The same people win the tournaments every time anyway, and this might provide some variety.

Rules:

1. <This Stage is not needed>
2. Each round any player may challenge any other player who has not yet played in that round to a game.

3. Once a challenge has been issued, all players have 24 hours to vote on what game they want the two players to play. In the case of a tie, the person challenged may choose the game.

4.
In this version of Tournament the actual game is played, for poker this will be hold 'em, and for chess it'll be standard chess

5. If someone has been eliminated, they may continue to vote on games until the round in which they were eliminated ends

6. In the last round, all players may vote on which game the remaining two players should play.

7. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves both in the thread and in private. Make deals if you would like.

For the hold 'em it'll be simple: 1000 chips - 100/200 blinds with them doubling every 3 hands. It'll be no limit.

Players:

Farside22 (Replacing Drench)
Animorpherv1 (Replacing StrangerCoug)
BSG
yawetag

Eliminated Players:

Cybele
animorpherv1
My Milked Eek
UnofficialRulerOfEveryone

Round 1:
UROE (Challenger) vs Farside22 - Chess -
Farside Won

animorpherv1 (Challeger) vs Strangercoug - Poker -
StrangerCoug Won

BSG (Challenger) vs My Milked EEk - Chess -
BSG Won
(MME flaked)
yawetag (Challenger) vs Cybele - Poker -
Yawetag Won

Round 2:
Yawetag vs animorpherv1 - Poker
BSG vs Farside22 -

No, one is the theoretical enactment of a tournament, this is a true tournament with the games being played

Also, the poker blinds are probably a bit high to start, the games will be super short. (Also, it is normally ante's in heads-up poker)

I know the game will be super short, but as it's through the forum it could take an age to sort out each poker game

Chess games take some time, so I think the poker should, too. I'd suggest no-limit. Start with 1,500; blinds start at 10/20. Increase every 6 hands, but not doubling. If you'd like, I'd love to make a structure for the game to last about as long as a chess match would.

Not true. Blinds are used in heads-up play. The dealer pays the small blind; the other pays the big blind. Dealer has to act first pre-flop because he gets to act last on every other street.

Well as you're offering invent an increase system which will be easy to use.

@Yawetag: When I play heads up poker the dealer pays big and the opposite player pays the small and the bidding rotation is the same as yours though so really who pays small and big doesn't make a difference in the long run.

Chess does take really long on forums, I still think antes would be easier, and you are wrong, it is usually antes, I am home enough that I turn on ESPN every so often when Poker is on, plus I play lots of online poker... So, yeah, I support antes, also, will we be using any sort of client to play chess, or normal forum chess?

I will agree that by the time you're watching a final table, antes are being played
ALONG WITH
the blinds.

@Max: Typical poker has the dealer pay the small blind. The reasoning is that the dealer acts last in every other round, so you are forcing him to act first pre-flop. No, it's not a big issue, and I'm okay with it either way.

This is taken directly from PokerStars' Heads-Up Sit-and-Go's:

Starting chips: 1500. New level every 5 hands.

[mrow]Level [col]SB [col]BB [col]Ante 1[col]10[col]20 2[col]15[col]30 3[col]25[col]50 4[col]50[col]100 5[col]75[col]150 6[col]100[col]200 7[col]100[col]200[col]25 8[col]200[col]400[col]25 9[col]300[col]600[col]50 10[col]400[col]800[col]50 11[col]600[col]1,200[col]75 12[col]800[col]1,600[col]75 13[col]1,000[col]2,000[col]100

I would bet that most games won't get past level 5, as long as there isn't a lot of hands won pre-flop. A couple of the games *might* get to level 7 or 8 before they're decided.
