Why would those two specific scum tactics require their own awards? Couldn't those fall into the Best Performance (Scum) category just fine?Lord Gurgi wrote:I'd like to resurrect my idea for the awards,The Bus Driver Award, for best busand the new,The "Look a Distraction!" Award, for best derailing of a scumbuddy lynch.
If categories were opened up for specific tactics, you'd probably have to create further and further subdivisions of awards outside of those two as well. Also, how about town tactics like Best Case Against Scum (Town) or Best Lightning Rod (Town)? The possibilities would be endless, which is probably why the awards are so generalized.[ooc][color=black]patrickgower2006 (8:12:03 PM): all beer tastes same to me

"Look Something Shiney" is clearly superior.Korts wrote:"Look, a three-headed monkey!" would be a better name and a cool reference for the best derailing of a scumbuddy lynch award.
EDIT: but I do support both of them, although those awards would mean even more hard work for the judges...
And I don't think farside needs any more noms, but nice work. I didn't even notice you took over the queue, I thought you were just really eager to get your open games goin-

Those are recognition of the best overall of the year. Best performance is recognition of the best single performance. Therein is the distinction between those and arbitrary awards. It's just one step away from "best case" and "best lightning rod" to "best use of the word 'pudding' in context" and "most appropriate use of an emoticon (town)".Lord Gurgi wrote:

Not sure if it's possible for three people to get the same award, but I think at least one of these three people deserves this one:
Nominate:Elmo, destructor, and farside22.
Award:Leonidas award.
Game:Mini 664 - AoaDA
Details:farside22 pretty much had two of the three scum nailed on Day 1 upon replacing in. Elmo-Cop and destructor-Vanilla Town collaborated during Day 2 to further pursue the case against the two scum and eventually seemed to bring their way towards discovering the third scum as well through excellent scum-hunting tactics, good questioning, and imaginative thinking. The game went sour only when Elmo counterclaimed thinktank-Cop during Day 2 after initially contemplating the possibility of a double cop set-up due to the game mechanic (he was right though he didn't know it at the time, obv). During Day 3, Elmo had a guilty on one of the three scum, but the town didn't buy his explanation of there being a double cop set-up, and he was lynched costing the town the game. farside22, Elmo, and destructor seemed to be in a mind-meld the whole game and did a nice job of demonstrating what good, concentrated scum-hunting and strong pro-town play can do to completely break a game open for the town.[ooc][color=black]patrickgower2006 (8:12:03 PM): all beer tastes same to me

No disrespect to farside, but I think Elmo deserves this more than either of us. He was right about 2/3 scum and 100% correct about everyone he thought was town, which is what I think set his play apart from the rest. The way he was going, I'm sure he would have caught the last scum too.Incognito wrote:Nominate:Elmo, destructor, and farside22.

I agree that Elmo deserves it. Even with the confusion of 2 cops I still believed him to be town enough to use my ability on his time period.destructor wrote:

nominate Skruffsfor most enjoyable game or best mod for Mafia 71: Corsican Syndacite, http://www.mafiascum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6490
The game started with good promise then got severely hampered by the SA'ers and then the Mod disappeared due to real life problems making this game look deceased. Skruffs came along ressurected it and it became probably the most enjoyable game of mafia Ive ever played.secondthis, and I didn't even win.
I found it very enjoyable. It was really the first time I ever got deep into a game. Although theo did a good job, I'm glad Skruffs brought this game back to life. What I remember is the first 15 pages happened int 72 hours or so.-
