Even a player that has used insulting logic that has been acted upon deserves an award.
If we don't award mediocrity then only a few people will ever get an award.

I don't see what the point of the award would be, though. I mean, "Cassandra Award" basically rewards being unable to convince the town of your corrrectness, but it's so funny/ironic that it probably stands on its own merits. Bad logic is just...

I think we should have two categories:
Best replacement (e.g., person who replaces often over the year, general do-godder).
And Best performance as a replacement (which all the current nominations have gone to).

Well I think most likely lynched on day one is not right, it is not a deserved award, insulting logic and convincing people of that, that truely does. Maybe not that, maybe, "best convincer", "most convincing lie", "best argument for bad reasoning". Anything but it still deserves an award

(Btw, this year I intend to finalize a list of awards-to-be-considered around mid-year, with definitions and what not. There was a little confusion I think last year as far as what falls under what category.

I expect with the size of the site these days, you'd have very little trouble picking judges after January 15th (or whatever the cut-off is for noms) that weren't seconded for anything. Unless you have some sort of Secret Squirrel algorithm for picking judges...

Max: It sounds like what you're talking about is the new "Don Corleone" Award (Most Cunning Manipulator). I thought you were talking about "insulting" logic in the sense of incoherent rambling, laughable strategies/ploys, etc...

Guardian: I could see someone who replaces in repeatedly (and well) being nominated for either Best Replacement or Behind the Scenes. BTS has a fairly small pool of candidates, as things stand right now (mostly List Mods, mith, JEEP, and maybe some wikifanatics). I look forward to mith's finalized list of awards, though...

Flay, possibly, though we don't pick judges completely at random from everyone on the site - we try to get a good mix of vets and (relatively) new players. An additional consideration, however, is that the number of awards has grown over the years, and given the shortish window between the close of nominations and the Oscars, we're not giving the judges a whole lot of time to read so many games.

(Also, could someone poke me in, say, August, if I haven't returned to the list-of-awards thing? I'll likely post a draft, open it up for discussion for a few weeks, and then finalize the list.)

cicero replaced into this game (which ended up being 182 pages long) and really put a lot of effort into playing. As a completely vanilla role whose real claim probably would've gotten him lynched, cicero copied someone else's claim to save himself and then aggressively set to hunting the cult. Although the cult ended up winning, I feel that cicero's effort was amazing, and he really helped the town as much as he possibly could by himself. Even as a replacement, he ended up with more posts than anyone else in the game.
