Hi, I'm still here.

I'm about 65-35 in favor of lynching one specific player. Three reasons I haven't voted yet:
1) I want to be at least 75-80% sure before I vote (although with deadline approaching so quickly, that may not be possible).
2) I'm a self-centered bastard and I feel like I deserve to slap down the game-winning hammer.
3) As a Survivor, part of me is still worried that if I vote and the other person goes "Hi, not quick-hammering," and then I'll end up in a "you or you" situation and somehow find myself lynched.

This is, of course, offset by the fact that I still believe that No Lynch is a
terrible
play. With the deadline approximately 52.5 hours from this post, I will vote in ~36 hours if the protowner among you hasn't sucked it up and voted.

I've just been looking over the Pooky vs Zindy lynch where poor old Pooky got the chop... there isn't much there to distinguish me and DP, as we both said or implied that we thought Zindy was not scum, and we were both voting for Pooky. But I think it's apparent that I at least believed Pooky was scum, voted early and gave reasons... even if my reasons were compelling only to me at the time! Whereas DP only voted Pooky very late in the day to "get a lynch" saying that he prefered a Pooky lynch over a Zindy lynch.

OK I know it's not much, but I had to try.

Gaspar pushed for the Zindy lynch pretty hard... never waivered... I am happy that if Gaspar is scum he has played amazingly and certainly well enough to earn the victory. I am also happy to give him the honour of the final hammer if he chooses to vote DP.

vote: DP

Good choice.

Well, as we probably have to assume that Setael will not return, the choice is now easy.

And the pooky lynch is hardly an argument - au contraire. The remaining scum would have every reason to join the wagon knowing full well that pooky was innocent, and co-scum zindaras facing the heat.

Anyway, the choice is yours Gaspar.

Decisions Decisions

The arguing carries on late into the afternoon. Dragon Phoenix and Talitha seem set on lynching each other, though Gaspar remains fearful that they may turn on him before the day is over. With the sun descending steadily toward the horizon, they finally vote for each other and put the choice in Gaspar's hands.

He weighs his options carefully before finally coming to a decision...

"Dragon Phoenix... I choose you!"

Dragon Phoenix sighs.

"If I have to die, I have to die. But could you at least avoid bad Pokémon references? Kthx."

Afternoon Delight

Meanwhile...

A boy sits in Mr. Grey's library. He isn't sure how he got here. He was following his sister through some coats, and somehow ended up surrounded by books. They aren't even interesting books. He can't understand a word of some of them.

He can't find a way out of the room, and boredom is setting in - sure to make him grumpy. Unexpectedly, one of the bookcases opens into the room. Through the previously hidden door, two figures walk in. One is a woman dressed all in white, and the other is a rathre goofy looking man dressed in purple. The boy immediately demands an explanation of his whereabouts.

"Patience, my dear boy. All in due time. Perhaps you would like some of this delightful candy?"

The boy looks at it suspiciously.

"What is it?"

The woman opens the box to reveal large pieces of turkish delight.

"Turkish delight! My favorite!"

He reaches out to grab a piece. The man in purple half-heartedly mutters:

"Stop. Don't."

It's too late, as the boy has alreaady stuffed a piece into his mouth and chomps on it greedily while reaching for another.

Several hours later, as the sun is setting outside, the poor boy is still eating. No matter how much he eats, there is always more in the box. The man and woman have long since left, but even though the boy is now sick of the stuff he can't make himself quit eating.

He is soon the size of a beached whale, and has to be rolled off by a clan of tiny, funnily colored, singing men.

Edmund Pevensie (Narninian King, Innocent) has been killed.

Bad Timing

"Baldrick, I must speak to Her Majesty at once."

"About what, My Lord?"

"About our lack of a cameo thus far."

"But, My Lord..."

"Quiet, Baldrick. Let us go at once..."

"Madam, this is outrageous! My name is Edmund. I must be given a cameo."

"Oh, Edmund... I do love it when you get cross. Sometimes I think about having you executed just to see the expression on your face... In fact..."

"Baldrick, how did we get ourselves into this mess?"

"I tried to warn you, My Lord. It's the end of episode 6. Staying off screen was our only chance."

Edmund Blackadder (Lord Blackadder, Innocent) has been killed.

Not Again

Mr. Grey enters the courtyard. Gaspar and Talitha look at him expectantly.

"Well, now what?"

"Very well... I know who did it. And furthermore, I'm going to tell you how it was all done. Follow me."

Gaspar and Talitha look at each other, confused. Mr. Grey turns back toward the house, but his walk is interrupted by a voice behind him.

"Not this again..."

Mr. Grey turns to see Dragon Phoenix, still alive.

"You're not dead yet?"

"Well, no. They haven't kicked the platform yet."

"Oh."

Mr. Grey corrects this small oversight.

Dragon Phoenix (The Spanish Inquisition, The Catholic Church) has been lynched.

Alternate Ending

THAT'S WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED.

BUT HOW ABOUT THIS?

"Very well... I know who did it. And furthermore, I'm going to tell you how it was all done. Follow me."

"No!"

"What?"

"You heard me."

"Why?"

"Because this whole thing is so... overdone. Wait a minute... where did that giant stuffed bear come from... oh no... no... aaaaaaah..."

Dragon Phoenix (Sinbad the Sailor, Innocent), Gaspar (Auguste Maquet, Author), and Talitha (Ickey Woods, Innocent) are dead.

Mutinous Characters

BUT HERE'S WHAT REALLY HAPPENED...

""Very well... I know who did it. And furthermore, I'm going to tell you how it was all done. Follow..."

Mr. Grey trails off. He frowns.

"I feel like this has all happened before..."

"I'm déjà vuing too..."

"I suspect the writer is screwing with us."

"The writer?"

"Oh, yes. Haven't you guessed? We're just characters."

"Oh. That's annoying. Can't we do anything about that?"

"Well..."

Mr. Grey reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small device with a single button, previously unseen. Hey, wait a minute, don't push that!

The Writer (Evidently Not God) has been "sacked".

"So, what now? How are we going to continue without a writer?"

"Don't be silly. A bunch of monkeys could write the ending just as well. Eventually."

"Well?"

"Oh, right. Well, first things first..."

Mr. Grey kicks the stand from under Dragon Phoenix's feet...

Great Escape

Earlier that day...

Setael waits anxiously for Talitha to make a decision. Finally, Talitha decides to buy the product. Setael takes the money and hands over the stuff.

Setael excitedly takes out the rest of the money, obtained on previous nights. Ignoring the other guests, Setael mutters:

"Finally! I have enough! ...although, I'm not really sure how money is supposed to help me get out of here..."

Setael spots a machine, unnoticed previously by any of the guests, embedded in the wall of the courtyard. While the other guests discuss what to do with Talitha's new-found strength, Setael sneaks over to it. The screen reads:

"WELCOME TO MR. GREY'S SECRET ESCAPE ROUTE. PLEASE INSERT THREE SHINY GOLD COINS IN THE APPROPRIATE SLOT."

"Well, that's convenient. I happen to have exactly three shiny gold coins!"

The coins are inserted and there is a whooshing noise as the wall parts. Setael runs out, to freedom...

Setael (Victor Conte, BALCO) wins!

Thrilling Conclusion

Talitha wakes up.

This surprises "her". Him. He isn't sure how to think of herself anymore. She has been pretending to be female for an entire week, and it's causing some gender confusion for him.

Anyway. He is relieved that he has survived the night.

"Well. I guess we must have already gotten all the scum..."

Talitha shuffles out of the room and to the courtyard.

"Good morning, Talitha."

"Good morning, Gaspar. Sleep ok?"

"Yes. You?"

"Like the dead. But fortunately not literally. I guess you must have been telling the truth, since I'm not dead yet."

"Would I lie?"

"Well..."

"It must have been Setael. Though where she went to, I don't know. I tried to kill her last night, but I couldn't find her."

"Well, I guess that's good. She can't hurt us if she's not here. I guess we're safe, then..."

She trails off.

"Wait. What did you say? You tried to..."

"Kill her."

"Oh."

"So I guess I'll have to settle for killing you instead."

"Oh."

"Nothing personal."

"Can I ask you something before you kill me?"

"Well... ok then."

"What about that whole Mr. Grey business?"

Mystery Host

Count de Morcerf, Gérard de Villefort, and Gaspard Caderousse creep down the dark halls of the mansion. Morcerf has just rejoined the other two after murdering "VitaminR". Though the layout of the house is a bit of a mystery, they eventually manage to find Mr. Grey's bedroom. Villefort throws open the double doors, and the other two march in behind him. Mr. Grey sits up, startled, looking at the still-masked guests.

"Gaspar? Zindaras? MrBuddyLee? What are you three doing here? Go back to bed. The halls may not be safe."

"Not for anyone else, no."

"What do you want?"

"We know who you are... Mr. Grey. Or should I call you Monsieur Dantès?"

Mr. Grey flinches. "What did you call me?"

"It all makes sense. Who else would bring us to this strange place and time? We only wanted you out of our lives, Edmond. Why couldn't you just stay dead?"

Morcerf points his pistol at Edmond Dantès' chest. Edmond slowly removes the mask, revealing his prison-worn face - a face that hardly resembles the young man the three knew so many years ago.

"God has decided that I shall no longer be his angel of vengeance. But He is just, and he will not let you escape unpunished for your crimes."

A shot rings out, and the eyes of Edmond Dantès go wide with surprise at the reality of his mortality. His mouth opens to let out a cry, but as he falls over dead all that escapes is his last breath.

"How tragic. Now, you should return to your rooms."

The three spin around in surprise at the deep voice behind them. They are even more surprised to see that the voice belongs to... Mr. Grey.

"But... you... we just..."

"You killed Dantès. Mr. Grey lives. Dantès was merely another guest."

By reflex, Morcerf reloads his pistol and pulls the trigger. Nothing happens.

"You cannot kill me. Now go."

"Mr. Grey" (Edmond Dantès, Innocent) has been murdered.

The End

"BANG!"

Talitha falls over, clutching his or her heart. Gaspar stands over the still body.

Mr. Grey enters the courtyard one last time.

"Well done. You have survived my little house of horrors. You may go now."

"Home?"

"Well, that's the thing. Do you really have anything to go back to? Your wife is dead. You will have a lot of explaining to do, regarding all the mysterious disappearances and deaths. Also, I can't send you back."

"What? Why not?"

"I seem to have misplaced my plot device. Always losing it, rather annoying. Anyway. You're free to go wherever you like. California is a nice place. I'll give you some money for your trouble."

"That's awfully sweet of you."

"What can I say? I'm a sweet guy. Until next time..."

Mr. Grey leaves Gaspar alone in the courtyard.

"...next time?"

Talitha (Ickey Woods, Innocent) has been murdered.

One minute you're in bed with your beautiful wife (who doesn't actually love you, sorry), the next you're here in Fresno facing three men that you recognize... suddenly all the pieces come together... the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo, and the one secret tying the four in this room together... egads, it's Edmond Dantès! You must work together to stop him from exacting vengence... and you might as well kill everyone else too.
Group:
Count de Morcerf (PlaysWithSquirrels), Baron Danglers (Thesp), Gérard de Villefort (Zindaras), Gaspard Caderousse (Adele). You may talk to each other by PM at night. Each night, you may send one Mafia member to make a kill attempt on another player (you must specify who is making the kill).

Special Abilities:
You might be a coward, but you did pick up some useful military skills. Instead of making a normal night kill, your group may send you to assassinate a player - the wound will be beyond the skill of a healer, protector, or priest. Special Abilities:
Being a banker has its advantages, even in a different century. You may use your banking knowledge to freeze another player's assets, to prevent them from using any night abilities for that night. Flavor Text:
One minute you're in bed with your beautiful wife (who ain't much to look at, sorry), the next you're here in Fresno facing three men that you recognize... suddenly all the pieces come together... the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo, and the one secret tying the four in this room together... egads, it's Edmond Dantès! Secret Word:
Your secret word is:
inters
.
Win Condition:
You win if at least one Mafia member is alive, and everyone else is dead (or if nothing can prevent this from happening).

Mod Note:
The mod is Edmond Dantès. Whether or not the Mafia figure this out has no effect on the outcome of the game, just on the endgame scene if they win. If they guess correctly, Edmond Dantès will automatically be killed (they don't have to waste their kill).

The Mass Murderer:

Role Name:
Marcus Wesson
Alignment:
Mass Murderer
Flavor Text:
You've escaped death row and are hiding out in Fresno. You sure did pick a weird neighborhood to hide out in... Maybe you can find some more wives here, though.
Abilities:
Each night, you may target another player. If your target is male, he will be killed. If the target is female, you will abduct her. Both of these actions are certain to succeed, no matter what abilities are used by other players. You are also immune to the first non-lynch attempt on your life that would otherwise have succeeded.
Note:
You have already abducted your first new wife! About all you can get out of her between sobs is some other language, but you caught the name "Mercédès". Perhaps you can pretend to be her...
Secret Word:
Your secret word is:
charms
.
Win Condition:
You win if everyone in the game is dead, or if all male roles are dead and you are still alive.

Mod Note:
Abducted females are "dead" for the purpose of gameplay. If Marcus Wesson dies, their roles will be revealed (mass suicide).

BALCO:

Role Name:
Victor Conte
Alignment:
BALCO
Flavor Text:
You're not sure how you ended up here... last you remember, you were sitting in a jail cell. But every surprise is a new opportunity...now you've just got to sell some of "the clear" so you can get out of this dump.
Abilities:
Each night, you may attempt to sell someone THG. You may include a sales pitch, which will be sent to your target as follows: "A man approaches you and says "[SALES PITCH]". Would you like to buy some of his product and use it?". They will have the first 72 hours of the following day to make their choice.
Secret Word:
Your secret word is:
badge
.
Win Condition:
You win if you get three different players to use THG, or if you survive the game.

Mod Note:
THG causes "roid rage" in males; the player must use a day-kill before the end of the current day, or his head will explode. In females, THG causes heart failure.

Innocents:

Role Name:
The Count of Monte Cristo
Alignment:
Innocent
Flavor Text:
You spent years preparing yourself for revenge against your enemies, but so after you returned to Paris to carry out your plan, they vanished. You followed them across time, space, and the boundary between fiction and reality, and now find yourself in Fresno. You must hunt down your enemies, and anyone else who poses a threat.
