Well, it is customary for NA to shit the bed in Week 2
EDIT: SO just checked pickem, how do the points work? I have 7/16 for group A, with having ROX and CLG in the right spot.

You'll earn 2 points a piece for correctly predicting which teams qualify for the Knockout Stage, as well as an additional 3 points each if you get them in the right order. Each correct pick for 3rd and 4th place gets you 2 points. Call the whole group in the right order? Congratulations, you get an extra 2 points and achieve the maximum score per group -- 16 points.
I was rooting for CLG, Im just not surprised at them falling short

What? Just because it's not in the moment doesn't make it less true or relevant, nvm that you didn't really talk about it beyond mentioning ANX hype (Which I'm now seriously super-hype for, OMFG). Do you think CLG played anywhere near decently against ANX?
In seriousness, though, both NA and EU failed miserably in this group, EU moreso than NA. I'm just at a loss for how CLG went 0-2 against ANX when they were clearly still the stronger team. Especially in today's game because it seemed like CLG just threw everything out the window as if they expected to win regardless of their comp when ANX had shown that they could fight back.
What I mean is if you want to live blog it or whatever, write it down and then post it when you're caught up. That way we get to get your reactions in "real time" but we also don't have to go through this temporally weird thing where we're talking about something going on at THIS moment, but now we're kind of talking about what you were talking about from two hours ago with the knowledge we know more than you.
I also don't mind if you're posting as you watch and there aren't games currently going on. It's just weird when we're discussing things happening in real time.
CLG has switched every single player out at this point, multiple times over for most. And yet they still do the same things. Perhaps the answer is structural weaknesses in the organization? Because that's what it is. People criticized Monte when CLG rose to the top of the league for 8 weeks and then tumbled to meaningless trash that nearly got relegated by the end. People blamed Doublelift when they got so close and then fell apart. They replaced him and won for two splits... then fell apart completely at Worlds.
Competitive activities at the highest possible levels put immense stresses on a team. You either train the team to handle them or you don't, and CLG simply doesn't train properly. Albus Nox Luna has the same issue but it's a thousand times more explicable there - watch them play well for two games then fall apart in the next two, ending with Rox just making joke plays against them in the tiebreaker (what you'd expect for a wildcard team). Any question how they're going to perform in a best of 5? They better win in 3 because they don't have the mental fortitude for 4 and 5 unless there's something more they haven't shown us. But this is a team that prepped themselves to go 0-6 and play the best they could, to see them fall apart after the stress of that 70 minute near-heartbreaker vs. Rox was understandable. To watch CLG repeatedly crumple under stress is just annoying.
G2 just has a major problem where they fucking don't have any team strategies or coordination and its nearly inexplicable. The literal only thing I can think of is they're a 1 shotcaller team and their shotcaller has that throat infection everyone's talking about at worlds, because they seriously look like a team that has no direction. Bad calls, bad midgame item choices, lack of coordination, lack of followup... they went up big against Rox and then just threw it all away in a series of totally inexplicable unforced errors.
H2K feels like they're the only ones who have a chance of making it out. G2 flopped hard, Splyce is simply outclassed by the teams in their group, so EU's only hope is in them. And even then I don't think they'll get past quarters without a very lucky break; getting 1st seed and getting ANX is just about their best hope. But I think EDG has 1st on lockdown now unless H2K goes 3-0.

There's still a few other ways EDG drops 1st.
If EDG going 0-2 against H2K and AHQ it results in a tiebreaker actually, regardless of how H2K does against ITZ
If AHQ goes 2-0 from here it's a tiebreaker
Heck, if ITZ and EDG go 0-2 from here EDG doesn't make it out of group.

Seriously, though, it's amazing to see what h2k can do when they're not imploding on themselves.
Thorin was right when he said that they won the offseason. It just took them brute-forcing their way to Worlds before the team started functioning the way it's supposed to.
