Kelly replied, and her reply pretty much covered the essentials. It would be better to use that sort of thing as a hidden element in a theme - perhaps a power that allows a one off deletion of a post, or a once per day deletion of a post so that the players aren't prepared for it by having the whole thing written on their hard drive.

I didn't [ignore it]...

Though actually it wasn't clear to me what the setup was. By "C++" were you referring to Fiasco's setup?

Max, how would replacements enter the game? Like...what if a mafia role has to be replaced and that guy can no longer read posts of his predecessor and is now royally screwed? Also, what prevents people from just deciding to quote the entire thread in a single post so they don't "forget"?

I think it's a very intriguing idea, but I think it looks much much better in paper than in practice. I would also suggest looking at Eternal Sunshine mini - which I believe also had some disappearing/forgotten posts as an element.

This is definitely not appropriate for open queue, but could be something for the mini theme.

I would for replacements purposes, make people 72 hours PM saying what they remember from the thread so people can replace, The Other Idea is that everyone is a double headed or triple headed group so people can forget and have partners. Th reason pablito for suggesting it here is because texas justice although it has unusual features USED to be a theme now it's a normal set-up, why can't this be any different

Texas Justice at least uses normal roles and mechanics. This not only has a very unusual mechanic, it's also not really clear that it would work.

Every 72 hours? Some players won't even post that often...

If you think the "normalcy" of the setup can survive being two-headed on top of everything else...

You didn't answer my question about whether you had Fiasco's setup in mind when you said "standard C++ set-up." I'm pretty sure even the normalcy of that setup has been questioned.

Make Quoting against the rules too, it not only prevents thread quoting - but makes an interesting element in responses :-D

No one has anything to say about my idea?
I'm suspicious - in every sense of the word.

Pairing people off into two groups and getting them to shoot each other in a texas justice setup gives pretty much 75% town win, apparently. I suggest making two of the vigs fire blanks, though there's probably a better solution. Also, in the game I was just in, the mod specified how many people actually shot each person in the morning scene flavour. It needs to be clarified that this is unacceptable.

We'll call this possible setup
"In the line of duty"

3 mafia
7 vanilla townies
1 naive martyr-cop
1 sane martyr-cop

Day start

The martyr-cop chooses one target each night. They will get to investigate this person and also be the "bodyguard" (another common name for this role) for that person. If the mafia try to kill the target, the martyr-cop will die in the place of the target.

If there's an existing name for martyr-cop or a better name for it, let's go with that role name.

Here's another one I shall call
"Community Pedophile Search"

3 mafia
1 Serial Killer - Role Blocker combo
1 paranoid gun owner
1 tracker
1 doctor
5 townies
Sup, later.

Yes I think losing the number of bullets per body would help the scum.

What about a mafia redirector? He could hold a trash can lid or something.

Not to be pushy Thesp, but is there any way we can get sign ups for some new Open Games going. No one seems to like 2:10 vanilla, and vengeful's been thirded, while Quack Mafia has been fourthed.

2:10 Vanilla should be renamed Mountainous, simply cause that name seems to cause more interest than Vanilla.

Shanba, see this post for the explanation of why it is called Vanilla: viewtopic.php?p=436112#436112

Also, I am saddened that vanilla is no longer gaining favor.

I don't play forum games anymore and I'm very certain I won't be coming back after my next break. So I'm sure I've played out my last vanilla. So answer: "No".

Here's another setup for the hell of it. Kind of a twist on the basic 12 player.

3 mafia
1 non-consecutive hider
1 "CPR doctor" or "Insane doctor"
7 vanilla townies

I think it would be awesome if the doctors were masons as well. I feel that town may be underpowered.
