Only staryu and starmie would fall under the definition 'horribly designed pokemon' out of that list, as you can't really relate to them due to lacking a face. The rest are very simply designed pokemon that fit their purpose; a shapeless blob that can transform into anything, and a toxic sludge pokemon. If you want to come with bad RBY pokemon, come with something like Seel or something (though even that thing has fine simplicity).
Are you seriously trying to suggest that Ditto and Muk reflect the ideal pokemon design.
Then what is wrong with them? Their shapeless blob shape serves their purpose perfectly. They do not need to be any more complicated.
Sure, but that doesn't mean we should have more shapeless blobss.

Another effect that you guys seem to ignore: you were the first to do an obvious thing, you are not being cheesy. But if you are not the first, you are. For example, Lord of the Rings is not cheesy by any means, but any RPG-like story with elves and dwarves after that is kinda cheesy.

That's why shapeless blobs like Muk are good, but shapeless blobs like Swalot who came later aren't (yes, Gen 3 actually had some pretty bad pokemon, often worse than Gen 4).

Gen IV had Gliscor.

'nuff said, Gen IV was cool.

Pretentious? In what way?

And yes, in some ways, Gen IV was cooler than gen III; I would put them about at equal level on the scale of coolness.

I'm now going to Nuzlocke Y. Base rules:

1) General Nuzlocke rules apply.
2) Exp. must be turned of at all times
3) No Super Training. At all.
4) I can only use Pokemon Amie for Eevee - if I intend to evolve in into Sylveon. Sylveon is free game on Amie, since I had to use it to get Sylveon.
5) No Mega Lucario. Its' broken in-game.
6) No running from horde battles.

Aside from that, I'm free to do whatever I want. Let's see how this turns out.

EDIT: Considering 7) No using O-Powers on myself.

I'm doing a blind Nuzlocke of Y, and my rules generally follow yours. I wouldn't recommend keeping the experience share off though, as that doesn't remove challenge so much as it removes grind time. I'm not using any megas if I can help it.

It depends on how you play. If you keep one team the entire game, everything stays overlevelled. If you swap your team around a lot, it works really well.

Ugh horde battles are surprisingly difficult when you know you can't run.

Game beat. Lost 3 Pokemon (Bunnelby, Furret, Krokorok).

Anyone up for Black/White or BW2 competition? I've wanted to do that again for a while.

Necro time!

So in preparation of Pokemon Sun and Moon, I've been playing older gen Pokemon games. I played through Pokemon Pearl (normal - not Nuzlocke) as far as getting my National Dex (and ~75 entries into it). Now, I'm playing a Nuzlocke run of Pokemon SoulSilver. My rules are as follows:
1) I must (try to) catch the first Pokemon in each area that I do not have a LIVING member of the same evolutionary line.
2) I must name all of my Pokemon. (I am naming them all after food/drinks, as I am on a bit of a foodie kick right now.)
3) If a Pokemon faints for any reason, I must put it in a "Dead" Box. R.I.P. Pokemon.
4) No grinding past the level of the next Gym Leader's highest Pokemon.
5) I can buy no more than 5 items per Pokemart.
6) Pokemon given by NPCs/in-game events (such as Togepi Egg) are permissible.
7) If I white-out, I lose and end my Nuzlocke run.

It's been challenging so far. On my first run, I wiped on the 3rd gym vs Whitney, when her Miltank w/Rollout just smashed my entire crew.

So far, I've lost 2 Zubats (lost one, encountered/caught another, and then lost the replacement), and a Weedle. In every case, I was careless about type effectiveness. I started Totodile, and my current team is:
Panko the Crocnaw
Annatto the Flaafy
Omelette the Togepi
Granola the Geodude
Bok Choy the Bellsprout
Rosemary the Pidgey

I just got done with the Burned Tower, and now have Raikou & Entei roaming Kanto, when I realized that I never actually caught a Pokemon in Route 33. (It can be 100% bypassed without walking in any grass.) I'm now considering stockpiling Ultra Balls to make a run at one of these Legendaries. If I catch one, it could make the game significantly easier. If not, I could waste my allotment of items on a wild goose chase. DECISIONS ARE HARD (but I think I'm gonna go for it).

(EDIT: Also worth noting, this is more or less a blind playthrough. I've never played G/S/C, or HG/SS. I have some vague/general knowledge of the game simply because I'm generally familiar with the Pokemon universe, but I don't actually know the specifics of this game.)

The only true way to play a pokemon game.

Sight-nuzlocking XY was really easy because the game literally gives you a Mega Lucario >.>

Lol and now I just evolved Togepi and Bellsprout after the same battle. Togetic and Weepinbell, go!

With that, I will probably box Pidgey since I don't need 2 Normal/Flying, and hope to pick up something Fire. In the meantime, I'll probably use the Slowpoke I got from Slowpoke Well, and just double up on water types. I want something Psychic anyway.

No idea lol. Literally the only thing I have looked up is the Gym leaders, so I know what my level cap is at each stage of the game.

Also, I'm not even going to TRY to go after Entei/Raikou until I'm at least level 45. I'm assuming they'll be lv50 when I encounter them, and I'd rather not wipe trying to catch a legendary.

Looking at my Pokedex, it looks like no. Togekiss must come after I get the National Pokedex, because the entry right after Togetic is Sandshrew.

Maybe I should just go back to Pidgey, since Pidgeot has higher stats...

In the meantime, I grinded out enough coins to get a Dratini as my Goldenrod City pokemon, from the Game Center. Going to teach it Flamethrower and not worry about having a fire type Pokemon.

Some dude handed me an Eevee. Some other dude had already handed me a Fire Stone. Now I'm trying to decide whether to go Flareon, Umbreon, or maybe just save the Eevee to replace something if/when I lose an important Pokemon.

On that note, bed. Productive first day. Ability to speed up game through emulator helpful.

Oh I'm doing one of these right now. 2 Days in just beat the first gym. It's all over my snapchat.

I've never actually played X past the first gym before so I'm nuzlocking my first every run through of it. I've already lost one :( and I killed the fucking skitty so I didn't get anything there either. This run is feeling pretty hard.

Griffin's Nuzlocke run is pure and beautiful and I will cry if Ms Beakman ever leaves this world

also I'm so glad that taking our dicks out for Seabreeze actually worked

in general the conceit of wonder trading a member of any team that beats a gym is a really good one, even though I'm sure it'll be emotionally traumatizing down the line when he's forced to, like, trade away Yiffin

The game gives you a free Mega Lucario.

It's really dumb.
