Making up scumtells, with or without reasoning behind them, is actually a good way to get the game lost for the town, as it gives players an excuse to vote for someone they want to be scum. Everybody does something in a game that some mafia in some game has done at one point or another.

Well, if you don't make the scumtells up, where do you propose we get them from?

Bad advice, flea. I especially find your backpedaling on this annoying. (Going from agreeing with Golgi by voting for me, then attempting to turn it into a lesson on tells? What?)

I fail to see how those two actions are contradictory.

I've followed a couple games, and one of the more entertaining players I've seen is ZONEACE, mostly because he's so damn caustic, yet he tends to play well. Also tends to get OMGUSed rather often for his attitude. I'm still following Mafia 70, which has just barely hit deadline Day 1...

Just to finish the talk about old games and get into the game.

I suggest that all new players check some old completed games (running games may take months to finish) to get used to the most common strategies and see how the best players do.

Retractable Deadline: Monday November 5

Here's how it works: when the deadline hits, night falls regardless of whether players have reached a majority decision. Player with most votes at deadline will hang. Usually mods require there be at least half the usual number of votes...in this case, however, I'll require at least 3 votes. If there's a tie for three votes, whichever player got there first will be lynched. If no player has at least 3 votes, everyone keeps breathing, though night will still fall. If a majority decision is reached before deadline, night will fall as usual.

The deadline is retractable, meaning that if activity picks up I will remove the deadline.

Thanks. As real noob, I don't know what to do to keep this game moving. I don't have the slightest idea how to move toward a successful resolution of this day one. I can make random votes and see if anyone else wants to vote that way, but it seems that there is precious little to go on at this point and very little being posted. I don't know. Any tips?

on one side we have Variable and Xaivius( or as Golgi dubbed X and V)
they seem to be annoyed at by maiking a joke, that must be a scum tell.
i fall into that catergory myself. but i can see how people who think that cos your joking about being scummy, your saying that "what scum would joke about that?" so it is a possible tell

and on the other side we have somestrangeflea and Golgi. arguements seem to say that there are hard and fast methods that tell ifyour scum or not. not a personal fan of that myself.

for me its all about context and case. as Dead Rikimaru says

Alright, after some watching of Variable, I'm getting scum vibes myself. Not because of joking, but the fact that he's been fairly OMGUS on his suspicions, while throwing them about like a clown with a cart full of pies. He's distracting from real investigation, and seems to be pushing overly hard on the "oh no, I'm not scum! Really!" button. Seems more backpedaling than innocence.
