The best way to do it is place the water first, and make sure it is moving down the hole in front of it first. THEN, place the lava one space away from the hole. Prevents glitching

Yeah, there's often a miscommunication about how it actually generates cobble: the lava needs to be flowing NEXT TO the block NEXT TO the flowing water. Doesn't mean the water needs to have any chance of flowing into the same block, and it leaves neither source block open to glitches or building mistakes.
Mods for 1.8.9/1.9 are in the works, but neither version has a complete enough set to begin any real work on it, beyond testing alpha/beta versions of the mods. I am going to shoot for beginning work on that closer to the end of the summer/fall.
I am working on a new 1.7.10 modpack to bring back some old favorites - Forestry/Bees, Mekanism, and MystCraft to name a few. What do yall think about that? Currently, I'm updating all the mods currently in the SP5 list and going from there. Let me know what you would like to see.
Klaz and I have got a 1.8.9 pack with a lot of newly-revamped classics up and running on our IRC #KMPacks. If you or anybody else here who's curious wants to hear about the new features in a ton of mods, or if you want to watch us die a lot, come check it out!
I've got a pack set up for 1.8.9 mods that I've been updating and testing as stuff comes out, but I think best bet would be to wait for solid 1.9 mods. I'm specifically thinking of EIO (which is a must have for me at least) and others.
For those of you interested in an updated 1.7.10 pack with some additions...
Here's a link to the doc I'm working from, and there's a tab where you can add requests/suggestions. Make sure to include a link so I can check it out.
Hey all! Anybody else here use Mac OS X when playing modded Minecraft? *crickets*
No? Well, have you noticed missing or borked textures (mainly for modded blocks and items)?
Go into your /config folder and find "splash.properties" (this file exists for every version of 1.7.10 and 1.8.9 Forge that any of us still use). Close to the end of the file, look for "enabled=true" and set it to false. You'll no longer see the fancy splash at the beginning with the animated Forge and the loading bars, but you'll never have to reload your resources or fiddle with your graphics settings to get those modded textures back again. Tested and works for me on our custom modpack for MC 1.8.9 AND on Infinity Evolved: Skyblock (both of which were producing this issue regularly).
I can get on tonight around 5:30 pm EST. That would be like.. 10 or 11 pm your time? I don't know. But let's try that so I can take a look at the console and see what's going on.
I wouldn't worry about it, I have a few things going on in the coming weeks that would make my time limited anyway.
welllll let me know what works for you. I work until 5 pm every day and most nights don't have time to play until the weekend. I'd like to figure out what's going on in case it happens to someone else.
A beta server will be going up this weekend to begin testing for the next pack. Links for the SP6 and Infinity Evolved: Skyblock worlds will be uploaded and posted on the blog. Download links for the beta server will be there as well. Keep in mind that this pack will change OFTEN until final release, so updates will likely be in the form of blog posts. I plan to make bi-weekly updates to the download link to keep it as up to date as I can, since yall know my internet struggles What else, what else... Oh yeah, I'm working on the doc for this. I'll post the link soon.

due to my work schedule, text is the BEST way to communicate with me. If you would like to be part of a group chat about server updates/questions, send me a PM with your facebook info to be added.
