It's at different times. Sometimes you just make a simple post, "***** needs more votes" and other times you list who we should all be focusing on which happens to be popular opinion.
Sim wrote:What information will voting ether produce?
I'm sorry, voting either what? Lurker or Active person? Voting a lurker will hopefully bring them out of lurking. Voting an active person will hopefully gain information from their defence.
Sim wrote:Despite this game being over thirty pages and almost a month long?
Yep. That's part of the reason i'm not really having any fun.
Sim wrote:When do you think the town should lynch?
I think the town should lynch when the majority of the town decides person A is scum.
Sim wrote:You say you're not having fun. I can guess why, but I'd rather hear that from you too.
Ok, you didn't actually ask this but I think I know what you're getting at. I'm not having fun because I feel there are so many bad players, poor sports and people that think lurking is a playstyle in this game it's overwhelming. Jdodge, Yama, Kscope, TS. The list just goes on, I feel us as a town have a severe handicap because of people like the aforementioned because they utterly refuse to help in any way shape or form. It's like trying to play a game with a bunch of cheaters. How is that fun? It's not!

Now don't get me wrong, I am in no way shape or form saying i'm any better than any of these people. I am however actually playing the game whereas it seems there is a substancial portion of these players that are only here to be here, make a name for themselves, socialize, make friends, show that they are right and/or superior. It's stupid! This isn't a pissing contest, this is a game. Make sense?

Btw, feeling better about you with all your questions.

I'll admit to the former, because I don't think it's a bad thing.

The latter, I'm afraid, you'll have to back up.
I'm sorry, voting either what? Lurker or Active person? Voting a lurker will hopefully bring them out of lurking. Voting an active person will hopefully gain information from their defence.
Ether the player. You know, the mafiascum account you are currently voting.
Yep. That's part of the reason i'm not really having any fun.
Follow up:
Do you think your vote is contributing to this, and therefore contributing to you not having fun?

I'll give you a hint: you may have noticed I targetted all of the players who are one one-man wagons.

@White

I love that list with your thoughts on every player. It's quite striking... each player is damned on some sort of lurkermeter, except MoS.

MoS is the only player that White seems to really love.

Funny.

Is White buddying up to MoS? Whassup with that?

Does this not mean that the rest of us should focus in on the mentioned above?

I hope that in voting Ether she'll further incriminate herself and show herself for the scum she is. That or she might drop hints of who her scumbuddies are. If nothing less it can give me a solid feeling that Ether is actually not scum but none of this can be acheived as directly as with a vote I feel.
Sim wrote:Do you think your vote is contributing to this, and therefore contributing to you not having fun?
Do I think i'm not having fun because i'm voting Ether or because people aren't listening to me? I don't think that has anything to do with it. If I threw a hissy fit every time no one listened to be I never would've gotten past "Townsperson" title. No, I think my lack of enjoyment with this game is partially because I can't read any of the newbies and I feel there is a consistent lack of anyone actually doing anything of substance around here.

For Example, what has TS done? Tunnelvisioned and bandwagoned me. Scumhunting? No. Helpful to the town? Nope, there are plenty of people doing that already. Presenting cases? No. Giving a list of suspicion....nope. I'm trying atleast.

Unvote, Vote: White

The inconsistencies TS pointed out seem really blaring. Since I do tend to hate on the Oppressor, I could see him trying to buddy up to me if he was scum. A valid point was made, and I'll follow up on it.

That's what scum does. Cause confusion.

========================

Since we appear to be stalling and people are complaining we're getting nowhere, here's a plan:

Only 3 more votes on White and we'll be in a range to get a claim from him - we'll have some "information" whose veracity we can discuss.

Scummy. You vote White if you think he's scum, not to force a claim (since, unless he's scum, a claim is a bad thing).

Obviously you haven't been following. I am voting White because I think he's scum. Six other players are also voting for White because they think he's scum.

Naturally, he's the guy whose claim I'd most like to see, and, presumably, he's the guy the other 6 players voting for him would most like to see as well. Since the game is stalling, if there are other players whose scumdar have been pinged by White's play, they ought to consider switching their vote - so we get somewhere.

I'd go as far as to say that The Fonz's attempt to derail the White wagon and keep the game in "park" is scummy. No?

More importantly...
@ Simenon
- hey, with Fonzie's vote switch, you are now one of those suspicious players that are on a 1-2 person wagon!

Actually, The Fonz has a decent point. You say you want White to claim and then have "information to discuss".

There are two cases here to be considered:

1) You believe White to be a scum, and think he would false claim. In that case, we would get a lot of "information" which would actually be all false and harmful to the town. (probably leading to outing of another role).

2) You think White is a power role and thus the information he will have when he claims is real. In this scenario, I would ask you why you are pushing rather hard for his lynch at the moment?

This town is not going to win at this rate.

I'm not buddying up to MoS, I see what he's been doing most recently as actual scumhunting, asking questions, making points. Saying i'm getting a townie vibe from someone is not buddying up. MoS is not being tunnelvisioned either.

TS! Let's hear your List of Suspicion why don't we.

Only by your definition of playing perhaps. Each person has a particular style, and not all play is typed up in neat posts on the message board. The largest part of
good
play happens when you read the posts and make connections, and correlations. Typing that up and putting it out there for all to see may aid in communication in scum hunting (or it might help the scum see the flaws in their play) but it isn't the entirety of play. And while this may be contrary to convention thought on this subject, more and more I feel that precisely calculated and well thought out responses are better than volume of posts for town in an active game. Sure, it may be the quieter (potentially more contemplative) play that pings your scumdar and makes you angry... but that is more like an parent who gets mad at their child because they don't do their chores the same way that parent would. It is arrogant to assume that, because people aren't playing the way
you
would play, people aren't playing - especially on day 1.

Unvote, Vote White
not solely for the above - but for unfocused, opportunistic, slightly distracting, and straw man tactics.
I'm suspicious - in every sense of the word.
