Yeah, all the chatter so far is pretty crap. I guess we can start by discussing the theme of this game and see if we can figure out what kind of roles we might be looking at.originality wrote:It looks to me like all discussion/voting going on here is based on "DURR YOUR POST IS POINTLESS! NO YOURS IS SHUT UP" which is no good.
I'm old enough to remember the MMPR show when it was popular, but I was too old even then for the show to appeal to me. I read up on my character at least, but that's about it. Petroleumjelly did mention that any character to ever appear at least once is a potential candidate, so that gives scum plenty of fodder for false claims.
But it's a safe bet to assume that there are at least five scum: The Power Rangers (Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Black). 5 scum to 7 town seems to be a likely ratio.
Any one have any ideas as to the possibility of SKs? Or is anyone willing to admit real familiarity with the theme?Vote Right -- Unvote Unright!-

I'm pretty familiar with early Power Rangers. I'm also familiar with game setup balance and I can tell you categorically that there is not a 5-man mafia team here. At least, let's hope not, because if there is, we're at lynch-or-lose.Unright wrote:originality wrote:I guess we can start by discussing the theme of this game and see if we can figure out what kind of roles we might be looking at.

I would also advise that we should not be speculating any further, simply because 1) someone will go "OMG he's rolefishing" and lynch you, and 2) The mod has completely covered his bases.
Also, way to give away the fact that you have a named character role.Eeny. Meeny. Miney. Vote.-

@Unright: If there is 5 Ranger Scum, there will not be any SKs. If there is, and we mislynch and kill a townie, then SK might kill a Townie (Although, admitiedly, he has near 50% chance to hiit Scum too) and Scum will hit a townie. Then Day 2 will be Lylo, or even Endgame.
A similar argument can be made if there are 4 Ranger scum as wellAlyG: If he's not a joke account then what is he? He starts bandwagons on himself and insults other people.-

Heres the show's normal sequence of events. Study this, for our game may turn out much the same:
1. Rangers are seen in everyday life with a dispute to resolve.
2. Rangers are attacked by an evil foe's minions/footsoldiers.
3. Rangers fight minions/footsoldiers.
4. Rangers morph.
5. Rangers defeat the minions/footsoldiers.
6. Evil enemy strengthens the minion and makes minion grow to gigantic proportions, followed by Rangers summoning giant machines known as Zords and/or their combined form, the Megazord.
-----------------A. Optional: Rangers find that their current powers are insufficient to defeat minion and discover a new power, such as a Battlizer, or a sixth Ranger.
------------------B. Optional: Rangers find or receive new Zord/s, new Megazord or Megazord combo.
--------------------C. Optional: Friends or allies show up to offer help or support.
7. Rangers fight and defeat that particular giant minion.
8. Rangers are shown back in everyday life, having learned a life lesson which solves the earlier dispute.
Attention: we may face Zord(s)-

What are you talking about? I was researching Putty Patrolers! I swear!dybeck wrote:Also, way to give away the fact that you have a named character role.

Aw crap. That's what I get for venturing out of the newbie game areas, huh? I guess I just figured that with a theme with as many reoccuring and one-shot characters as MMPR that all 12 players are probably named characters. It's not really that much of a stretch.
I was just trying to kick-start some conversation...Vote Right -- Unvote Unright!-

I'm not up to speculating about names yet (and would like to avoid that until claiming becomes inevitable...for the record, I don't like claiming), but I do vaguely remember the original show, though not particularly well and there are a wagonload of oneshot monsters. The mod does have all the bases covered there since anything is claimable.
I do not think there are 5 rangers here, as that would be too unbalanced. I think there might be four however, or three with an SK.-

Care to share why?dybeck wrote:FOS: unright. I have my eye on you.
jmar: more then one mafia team is possible, but then there'd be a total of 6 or 4 scum with 3 or 2 to a team. And probably no SK. I think it's a little less likely then a one team mafia, though it might be possible with ranger replacements.-

I've typed up posts, but I've been too spooked out to actually hit the reply button. I feel that I've already stumbled twice so far this game (jumping on UA's self-bandwagon, and making stupid assumptions) and it's still very early, so I've got some self-doubt going on.Mirth wrote:I understand what you're saying, but it's a null tell for now. Unright needs to talk more before we can use that post to weigh anything.
I'm not pulling a vanishing act though. I like being an active player. But if dybeck wants to shut the topic down, I've got no problem with that. Although dybeck should probably introduce a new topic of conversation otherwise the game will just kinda stall out.
Or maybe Blight should speak up. (picking on you because you've barely posted).Vote Right -- Unvote Unright!-
