I have never considered voting for somebody calling them scum. I have never considered it wishing them dead either. Obviously there are instances where this is the case, but some people random vote, some do so to discourage lurking. Some do so to apply pressure. It seems that Oman wasn't satisfied with your answer and voted for you to get your attention and get you to take him seriously.

As far as you answering and him not liking the answers. Isn't that how this is supposed to work? You made a statement impling that you know something about the alignment of other players and a good townie is supposed to demand explainations.

As an IC, do you think the town ought to take to accepting "x feels protown" , "I think x is geniune" and "scum wouldn't do x" as reasonable statements that should be accepted without question?

Meanwhile, I can now come here more often than I have been. Thesis uploaded. So until they email me back with corrections I have to make, I have some spare time.

First, the major scummy mark on me: my pushing of tyhess, after he made mostly newbish (though not necessarily scummy) moves. I know, he could be newbtown just as well as he could be newbscum. I guess his bandwagon jumping just didn't sit well with me. My vote still stands, though; I have nothing better at the moment. I'll switch only if I get a good reason to.

Second, acfan has done something that's not easy; lurked more than I have. Also, there was this:

Cult-looking list includes: CKD and tyhess (of course, it can only be one).

Don't try to differentiate from scum and cult. It's pointless, at least at this point.

Weak argument against Oman. I don't get it at all. Heh... now I've got my eye on the guy that's voting the same way I am.

Third, I'll next take a look at this whole MoS/Oman thing. I'll comment on that once I've had a better look.

Forgive the out of dateness of this post, it's what I was thinking while reading chronologically.

Vollkan seems protown to me, I can't really say why and it may just be null and void but i'm keeping my eyes open.

I would say that in this game, a townie lynch is almost as good as a scum lynch.

Why? Townies are the lifeblood of the cult. No townies= no recruits, No recruits= good.

Therefore, any townie claim should be punishable by lynch.

Which means that you've obviously not a townie.

So as it goes, we are rewarding non-contributers, punishing contributers and creating an atmosphere where people are afraid to post their thoughts.

We're not rewarding anyone for not contributing. If not talking about someone = rewarding them then perhaps we are rewarding...but that's invalid and stupid. We're voting Dr BS because he's acting culty/scummy, not because he's contributing. You're idea about the atmophere is crap because it relies on your previous statements, which are crap.

Please tell me where I said it was any of those things. My point is, you can't call me scum for doing something I always do. You can't call me town either, but the fact remains that it is a complete null tell.

Now as far as this particular schtick goes, it *IS* helpful, and it *IS* smart. But that isn't really pertinent, so I won't waste your time going into a long argument over it.

You, as a protown person, have the responsibility of catching scum. Therefore anything you do should be trying to catch scum. By doing something that isn't trying to catch scum you are being unhelpful and not smart because it draws suspicion. Why would you do something deliberately unhelpful? (dice vote on page 4 is unhelpful)

However, I agree with your point that there is really no reason to do a dice roll on page 4, but that doesn't meen someone's scum.

Exactly. MoS hasn't posted nearly enough from what i've read (up through page 4) for me to gather that he's scum, so i'm going to just assume he's protown for right now. Sometimes I play assume innocent until proven guilty and sometimes I play assume guilty until proven innocent. Trying to work out which one is better.

He never expressly said any of those things, they were implied.

I'm not going to argue with you about the vote. I said I wasn't going to argue with it, and I'm going to restrain myself from doing so, because it's obviously an exercise in futility. Nothing will be gained by arguing opening post game theory strategies.
