Intellectual buddying occurs when someone summarizes the thread but reaches the conclusion everyone is town to avoid pissing anyone off.

That's a townie indication though. If I could get away with it I would when pressured. Someone concerned with survival would act differently. While it's annoying and anti-town, I don't see it as survival motivated.
