mm, I came from a site where DP were at max 72 hours and activity was inversely proportional to the length of the DP. I don't see why it would be any different here.

I decided to post "haha just don't post that in the main thread", but to get up to date on the main thread first.

It rocked! Loved the pace of it. I plan on running one blitz and one regular at a time going forward.
Compared to 14-day games:
- some long-phase games have input that is consistent, albeit slower paced, than blitz. These allow more time for analysis and have their place.
- some long-phase games tend to have 10 days of nothing, followed by a 4-day blitz period. So, who needs the 10 days of nothing?
I think what will determine the success of fitting blitz into the forum will be whether people honestly consider what they want from the game and join the right queue.
I shall go down in history as the first person NKed in a blitz game

I agree with this. Blitz play is completely not what I want from mafiascum.net, but there are other people who do want that, and so giving us separate queues makes for the best of both worlds; I can play with other patient players (when I have the time to play at all), and people who are online more often can have deadlines that force the other players in the game to act.

Actually I've been second-guessing this. An interesting metric might be the average number of pages in a blitz game v. the number of pages in a regular game of the same size.
I know this is trial period and all, but I think it would help move sign-ups along if there could be 2 sign-ups in progress at a time. Some game formats take longer to fill than others.
I'd be happy to informally help with keeping track, and I imagine other mods would help as well.
Amid the pressure of great events, a general principle gives no help.

We discussed having two games in sign-ups at a time before the trial started, but there weren't enough moderators queued to justify it. If there ever is a longer queue, I'll have two games take sign-ups at a time. Right now, though, it seems like player sign-ups are likely to outpace moderator sign-ups; from what I can tell, only one game has really held up the queue. Most everyone queued now is going to be able to run their game before December 15.

I inned only once because I'd like to see everyone who wants to mod a blitz game during the trial have the opportunity.
There's no risk of the queue running empty anytime soon, but it could always use more moderators. If you'd like to run a game but want others to go first, you can let me know to move you to the back of the queue.
Also, we'll be deciding soon whether to extend the trial another 45 days or not. If we do, there'll be plenty of time to get a second or third modded game in.
I think everyone who's played in/modded blitz games would agree that an extension is warranted, for what that's worth. In my first blitz game modded, there were some kinks, but the game ran well and I'd like an opportunity to try out some different rules/practices and see if things can run that extra bit more smoothly.
Due to negligence on my part, this became a nasty surprise for a few people who signed up to run a Normal game in the Blitz Queue. For that, I sincerely apologize. From this point forward, Blitz Normals are required to be reviewed for Normalcy by the Normal Review Group. Alternatively, if you wish to bypass this process, running your game as a theme game is recommended.
