Looks like a Spanish anime-influenced game if you can't be bothered.

So today was game day again.

Last time, the party was storming a flying castle, but they got themselves divided. Two of them were climbing across the walls of the castle, running away from Ogres, Golems and Cultists. Three of them were back on the ground, being chased by an angry wyvern and its rider.

The three at the bottom, a druid, a paladin and a thief, defeat the rider and his wyvern with little difficulty compared to last week (the dice smiled upon them). They go to the stables and find two ridable wyverns. Each wyvern can only carry two riders, and both the paladin and the thief are not confident in their ability to tame the beasts, so they leave it to the druid to ferry them back and forth to the flying castle. I tell them that the round trip will take 6 rounds, and the druid decides to take the thief up first (Why?). At first he tries to drop the thief at the front gates of the castle (WHYYYYY?). The ogres in the gate towers spot them, and the druid decides instead to drop the thief in the roof of a building in the back of the courtyard.

In the meanwhile, the Barbarian and the noble are sneaking through the walls at the other side of the courtyard. They decide to try to try to make their way to a large cave with a stairway at the back of he courtyard, avoid entering any buildings. They succeed for the most part, while the castle guards are organizing a search near the front where they were last seen. But as they are running the final leg to that cave, they are finally spotted. At the same time, the druid shows up in the front (paragraph above). They decide to take the distraction to bold to the cave in the back.

The druid goes back down to pick up the paladin, the barbarian and the noble start climbing on the stairs inside the cave, and the thieve sees herself surrounded by castle guards approaching the building that she is on top of.

The thief finds a trapdoor in the roof, goes down it, and find herself in a kitchen full of kobolds and a gryphon. She attacks the gryphon (WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY) and is taken down quickly.

The Barbarian and the noble keep climbing the stairs, looking down for pursuers that don't come (they had a fair head start). After a while, they find that the caves branch in a few directions, and decide to go back down the stairs to try to kill the pursuers in a bottleneck. (WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY). Eventually an invisible mage comes through and fireballs them, the enemy guards start rushing in.

The druid returns to the castle with the paladin at his back, to find the courtyard filled with guards -- cultists, ogres, a mage and a few giants, who are now sticking together and ready to rush the stairway. They shoot an arrow at the mage, and try to circle the castle to find another spot. As they do so, two cultists riding wyverns take off after them. The druid spots some caves in the rock under the castle, and lands on it to avoid an aerial battle.

And that is where the session ended. The Barbarian and the noble are low on hit points and about to be rushed by a huge number of enemies. The druid and paladin are very low on spells and cut off from the other two, and the two flying guards are going to sound the general alarm and alert every creature in the castle that was not yet aware of the invaders. The question now seems to be not whether they can conquer their enemies, but whether any of them will be able to get off that rock alive.

In post 425, Glork wrote:Tonight's session was fun. The party got to Quaevarr, went to the Red Wizard enclave to inquire about the goblins' magic items, and got roped into searching for a couple of missing laborers. They found out that a Thayan woman drugged the laborers and tricked a merchant into buying them as indebted criminals. They talked the merchant into freeing the laborers and will be heading back to the Red Wizard enclave to confront them about why one of their countrymen was allegedly kidnapping and illegally selling into servitude innocent men.

After a week off, we got back to things last night.

So the party filled in Petra/fro99er the Sorcerer, who missed the last session, and they appraoched the Red Wizard enclave. They spoke with the leader there about what they saw and experienced, and the leader called out all of the wizards to weed out what was apparnetly a traitor amongst their ranks. He approached a group of three wizards and spoke to them, and as he turned to speak with another group of wizards, two of the wizards behind him stabbed the third one, rendering him unconscious immediately. One party member (Petra) noticed and got to take an action, and then everyone rolled initiative for the start of combat.

Of course, the party had no idea who was really on their side and who they needed to be fighting. They had an uneasy but necessary relationship with the Red Wizards as is. Ultiamtely, they sided with the leader of the enclave and his loyal wizards, against five rogue/traitorous wizards. After a brief, but extremely chaotic battle, the party had clearly gained the upper hand, at which point three of the traitors whipped out (stolen) scrolls of teleport and vanished. They did manage to kill one low level traitor and capture another, but were told that interrogation would be held internally by the Red Wizards. The left the enclave having been handsomely paid for their contributions to the fight, and with the assurance that they would remain allies to the enclave should they cross paths again.

The party then continued on to Silverymoon where the cleric (Lia/singersigner) had her holy symbol blessed by one particularly moved elder cleric of Corellon Larethian. It's now not only the holy symbol of her god, but a magical item that gives her a resistance bonus to saves, granting the god's own protection to her. The party also stocked up on gear at Silverymoon's massive marketplace and will be heading back to their home town to start things off next week.

Your party investigates things instead of kicking down doors and killing everyone who might or might not be involved? I'm touched :-D

Well prior to the last two sessions, it had been "go place, kill things." This really made them think about what they were doing, and the players had a lot of fun progressing a storyline using little more than d20s. Their actions are also having an impact on how I progress the storyline, so in a way I'm letting them build their own epic tale.

One thing I really liked was making them operate under extremely limited information and seeing how they react. They handled it quite well (and seemed to enjoy that, too), so that's a tool I may use down the road at some point to add a little suspense.

When I DM with this I find it's a fine line to walk between "not enough information to make informed decisions" and "not information to prevent the party from sitting there waiting for more information". Just make sure you don't paralyse them :)

Side note: A pathfinder group I know lost their DM and I kinda want to step into it, but I am also kind of terrified cause they had an amazing DM a few months ago and I don't think I could live up to their glowing reviews of him.

Notscience, your character is pretty effective when the rest of your party controls him.

Long story short, the party returned to town to find it mostly razed to the ground. They heard goblin voices coming from a storage building and while fighting the goblins, got hit by a drive-by fireball cast by a mounted wizard. I rolled p high on my damage.

Well, my bardbarian has now actually classed into Skald. Next session he should actually get to use his new powers and confuse the rest of the party, and we'll have to come up with even more increasingly ridiculous ways I'm not using magic.
