Kiora is like a 12/10 planeswalker design and I can't wait to play Sultai midrange with Kiora all season.

Still kinda mad she isn't Sultai colored though

Same, but in RUG rather than Sultai. I feel a burning desire to run her alongside Sarkhan Unbroken and Savage Knuckleblade. I really love both of those cards, and Kiora feels like she'll play perfectly with them.

They might as well rename every Return To set they print "Strictly Worse Than Last Time We Went To ______ - By Mark Rosewater" since all they want people to do these days is ram big dumb fat creatures into each other like speed dating night at an American steakhouse

thank fuck they haven't quite managed to kill off Legacy yet

Devoid is possibly the most boring mechanic they have ever printed

Devoid also wasn't going to be a keyword until they realized that it didn't work without a keyword.

I'm mostly a limited player(I was also a filthy affinity player). I think scars limited is one of the worst limited experiences I've had in years. Theros is also pretty bad so I'm reluctant to call it -the- worse but~.

I strongly disagree. At least DTK/FRF had variety in mechanics, instead of Bestow/Constellation and nothing else relevant.

Have you drafted mirrodin recently? I found a box in my closet and we drafted it two years ago. It's painful.

Mirrodin release weekend I bought an affinity precon and won FNM with it.

Generally when I hear someone shitting on the new sets, there are a few options going on:
1. They've never played in a format with a 90% incidence of a single deck and therefore do not understand how miserable that is.
2. They've dumped a bunch of money into one of the masturbating-with-sandpaper formats and are desperate for other players/ to not feel like they've wasted their money
3. They're teenagers who dumped a ton of money into a standard deck to buy wins and are now feeling the effects of a rotation for the first time, but don't have the experience to understand WHY rotations exist.

I've been playing for 18 years and judging for 14 and magic pays my bills. I promise you that the golden age for MTG started in Ravnica block and has continued since.

I'd say the golden age started with Ravnica and ended with Innistrad. That being said, a seven-year streak is really good.

Also for formats, as someone who has grinded and almost-cashed-out GPs, I'd rate the last few sets(since Innistrad I guess)

ISD
M13
--("God Tier" formats)
DKA
KTK
---(The above are what I'd consider "Really Good")
M14
ORI
---(This is the line where I'd say I stopped really enjoying the format)
JIN
FRF
DGM
---(This is the line where I'd start saying the formats are "Bad")
M15
RTR
DTK
---(Guttertrash tier)
THS
AVR
GTC
BNG

Funnily, if you roughly stratified these by the prevalence of strong removal, this is sort of their rankings too.

Yeah but I ascribe to the Magic-as-Art view and reject the constraints of Wizards. If I could actually find people who wanted to create and draft custom sets, I'd do that. Hell, I actually am working on a custom set.

Also, this card is actually the worst designed card in every aspect I have ever seen.

I dunno, that card does say draw a card on it...and the name+art+flavor text aren't all terrible....

Second perk is that LRR's preview vid for that card was amazing.

What are you talking about? Embers deal the same amount of damage as lightning? There are no embers or shooting in the art, which is a bad angle of an elderly Guy Fieri using mittens to catch rocks that are flying out of an explosion. And the flavor text again totally misses on the name and implies that it is easier to throw lava with magic than emulate what dwarves commonly do with the rocks they keep in their pockets.
