4 is much more interesting.
Completely overlooked that. And with that, v2 is killed.
1 is also extremely unbalanced; if I'm thinking correctly, the balance of power shifts to the town a fairly good amount when a member of the mafia is lynched/killed, and giving the town new powers as the mafia dies is just completely and utterly broken IMO.
All vanilla townies/tree stumps start as vanilla townies. At any time during the day (but not during twilight or night) a vanilla townie may declare themselves to be a tree stump [I imagine doing something like requiring a vanilla townie to post in thread "I wanted to be a lumberjack" to declare being a tree stump.] Tree stumps cannot be killed, cannot vote, but may post in the thread.
The mafia wins when the number of living mafia is at least the number of living vanilla townies.
Declaring oneself to be a tree stump resets the vote count, and does not send the game to night. Lynching does send the game to night.
Mafia can fake being a tree stump, which will be the same as day suiciding. I'm not sure why they would ever want to.
(I'm not sure whether 3/9 or 2/10 is more balanced for this.)
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

tree-stump if they were at lynch -1 with someone intending to vote?
When a player attempts to tree stump or fake tree stump, their role is revealed.
As for your comment, I expect in some situations players are likely to tree stump. The only reason I can see for not tree stumping as town is stubbornness/belief in your ability to convince people that you are protown.
I expect this game to play somewhat like Lights Out.

edit: and comment on my setup .
The only difference between a fake tree stump and a real tree stump is that when the mod comes to the thread, he says "X declared himself to be a tree stump. He was actually mafia." I would still have vote counts reset, allow that person to talk in thread, etc.
Basically imagine there are really 12 people who could tree stump, but 3 of them are a mafia group.
(Quick note: The idea of this role actually comes from here.)
As for your setup, feh, it's starting to get too semi-open for my liking. But balancewise it's decent. (I might drop the various one antitown roles for balance sake).

2 Mafia Goons
1 Mafia Godfather
1 Dark Knight (scum)*
1 Dark Knight (town)*
1 Cop
1 Doc
5 Townies
Night Start
* The Dark Knight can investigate like a Cop can. If investigated by a sane Cop, the Dark Knight aways returns a "guilty" or "mafia" or "scum" or similar result. If investigated, a Dark Knight will return the investigation result of "Dark Knight". The Dark Knight can either investigate a target or kill a target each night. One Dark Knight is a Serial Killer, and wins if he is the only player left alive. The scum Dark Knight also has immunity from being killed by a night move. The town Dark Knight wins with the town. If killed, a Dark Knight's role and alignment will be reported as simply "(Player's Name), Dark Knight", in identical form for both DKs. If one Dark Knight targets the other Dark Knight for a night kill, the kill will fail. If both Dark Knights target each other for a night kill, both will die- this is the only way the scum Dark Knight can die as the result of a night move.
Would someone help me get this ready for prime time? Please?

edit: nomination withdrawn because someone thinks I am Adel's sockpuppet. I am Tiamat of Sumer's sockpuppet, not Adel's, and Tiamat resides in each of your minds. So I am only an alt in the same way in which all of us are really just alts of each other.
I'm withdrawing the nomination, I didn't really like the setup anyway. Adel turned out to be a real cunt anyhow.

The thing that is different about this setup is that the Doctor and Roleblocker receive the exact same Role PMs. So they're pretty much shooting in the dark.
I don't know about the balance of the setup, I've been thinking about giving the town something extra, but I'm not sure.
2 Goon Mafia A
2 Goon Mafia B
2 Goon Mafia C
2 Goon Mafia D
5 Townies
1 Doc
Night Start
Death scenes for all mafia will not reveal which mafia the Goon was a member of, just that he was a Mafia Goon.
Yes, 3 or 4 players will sign up only to die right away. Even though this game would be very swingy and random at first, I think the number of different endgames that are probable and the short Day 1 will make it very interesting.

Short Day 1? I guess you're expecting that scum will probably just use their majority to pile onto a random person? I think that is likely, but I think they would take their time doing it so that they can at least use the "well, nothing was happening" cover.
I would say it's already difficult to identify a scum group when there are only two of them, let alone with night start and no confirmation of what group a dead scum belonged to.
Why not go the extra mile and have no role reveal and a cult?
Yeah...I don't know about that setup, Adel. Good guys are what makes a setup go, they're the ones who have the obligation to be active and make things happen and be agressive. With only 6 good guys out of 14 people, and with it quite possible for there to very few good guys by the start of day 1, I tend to think that everyone would just sit there and do nothing, pretty much. There's a reason that the town should be a majority; games where there is no uninformed town or town-like majority tend to get wierd, and to often just not work very well or go anywhere. I mean, the scum have no real reason to scumhunt, as they don't really care who gets lynched and as there's really no one group that's more of a threat to them then any other group. If the town looks like the faction that's the biggest threat, then looking pro-town might actually just get you lynched by all the different scum factions. And there's no way for the scum to even know if a different scumgroup is a threat to them, as they have no way of knowing which or scumgroups have 2 people, 1 person, or are gone completly at any point in time. So basically, everyone will probably just lurk and do nothing.
I want us to win just for Yos' inevitable rant alone. -CrashTextDummie
