- Each piece has a secret way that it can be used, set by a "Spectator".
- A Spectator can choose to set a piece's usage to a move, an invoke, or both.
- A move can consist of something simple like moving any number of spaces in a straight line (a queen, for example), something more complex including capture rules (e.g. a pawn), unique rules for a specific piece (e.g. a knight), or anything else. Spectators are encouraged to have a mix of easier to understand (or figure out) rules and more complex rules.
- An invoke can consist of one or more moves for OTHER pieces. A piece that uses an invoke command does not move itself.

- During a player's turn, they may attempt to move or invoke any of their own pieces on the board.
- If the piece's usage is according to the secret Spectator rule, the player is able to use that piece in the way that the player wanted.
- If the piece's usage is NOT according to the secret rule, the piece is not used.
- Either way, play passes to the opponent.
- If the piece's usage is according to the secret Spectator rule, the player is able to use that piece in the way that the player wanted.
- In addition to making a rule for a piece, a Spectator may also give that piece a new name for the game. All piece names, and pieces with invoke commands (but not the commands themselves), are revealed at the start of the game.
- The King (or equivalent) is still the check/checkmate-able piece, and checkmating this piece wins you the game.
Please make a move within 48 hours, don't be a dick, etc etc etc.
