Every game is either appealing to your emotions or appealing to a sense of fun (which I guess is kiiiind of the same).
Appealing to sense of fun != manipulation of emotions to fit an agenda
The agenda is to sell the product. The agenda is almost always to sell the product. If they are not selling you a product, they are selling you to someone else. That is how all media forms work.
BBM is also the most correct of mans.

So maybe it's just me, but DAI doesn't actually seem like very much fun to play. I've played the first 7 hours, and I'm wondering how much longer I have to go before the game starts being enjoyable.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.
Are you trying to say Transformers was some sort of GM advertisement?
Get outta here.
If you're going to talk about Transformers, don't worry about GM. Remember that Transformers was ALWAYS the product. It was designed to sell the action figures.

Welcome to new-age Bioware! Truthfully, unless you're a D&D nut, Bioware games have pretty much never been 'fun', but you still played them because the dialogue and story was good. And those aspects have been slowly going downhill since Mass Effect 2(I blame the original founders leaving the company, Hamburger Helper being chased out of the company by Reddit and Gaider having no one to keep him in check).
They really should just give it up and make the visual novels they want to make.
I buy too goddamn many indie games and end up with a lot of steam keys that are duplicates/that I don't want anyways. PM me if you want one or two of these (two max for now please)
I have extra copies of Space Engineeers and Tales of Maj'Eyal on steam. If anyone wants them, PM me because I'll probably forget I even posted in here by the time I'm off work.
I think I have two extras of each, so first come first serve. All I ask for in return is a friend slot up until I send it over.
EDIT: I lied, I only had one extra copy of space engineers left. I still have two Tales of Maj'Eyal copies though.

Really? I thought Mass Effect 2 & 3 had really good gameplay. And maybe I'm a sucker for the old Baldur's Gate games, but the first Dragon Age had pretty fun tactical gameplay as well.
The entire KOTOR series was really the nadir of their gameplay, for all I love the games. Jade Empire was really bad too.
I don't like the plodding start-and-stop combat that Baldur's Gate, NWN, KOTOR and DA:O had(coincidentally, I also think that combat is the worst part of real D&D due to similar complaints), but I could absolutely understand people liking it.
Mass Effect was just boring tactical shooter gameplay I've seen done better elsewhere.
I liked the tactical gameplay of Baldur's Gate and DA:O. KOTOR was pretty loose, though, and NWN could have been improved. I really liked Mass Effect, but it's probably mediocre if you're just looking for a shooter. DAI feels like a mediocre MMO.

What's the consensus on Sims 4? Worthwhile at all?

Best 15 hours I've spent on a game.
Based on what you enjoy, you'll have fun with it too. It isn't enourmously long, but if that much fun is worth $30 to you, then definitely!
If you like rhythm combat (Arkham series) you'll enjoy this.
I bought it, got it downloaded overnight, played about 3 hours so far. This game is a ton of fun, and will probably be much better once I get my laptop upgrade after Christmas. Right now it's stutter-y and runs at about 20fps, which makes it look like a 2004 version of Skyrim.
