I don't like complaining, but there should really have at least two list mods for this queue. Vel seems to be the least active of all the list mods, and I understand it's a hard job (plus people have other lives), but the queue shouldn't be this long if there are enough people for two more games.
Making sure newbies have a smooth, fast transition into playing is the most important part about gaining new, active players on this site. At lot of them don't respond after waiting in queue for a week or more.-

Actually, we're fine on Mods.
Generally, these kinds of discussion come up often and Vel can talk about it if he feels the need to, but ListMods are often older (in every sense of the word) members of the site that have their own schedules to work around when updating their Queues as they see fit. Quadz (the Micro Queue ListMod) only updates Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays - if a game fills on a Thursday people will sometimes complain but that's how he does it because it keeps him to a schedule that he knows he can accommodate. I'm sure Vel and Tierce and Llama all do the same thing.
Another factor to consider is there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes that not even the normal game Moderators know about, let alone new players. ListMods are in constant contact with most game moderators because of a myriad of issues with games in their queues. Modkills for breaking Site Rules, player game bans for personal attacks, Mods flaking from a game they were supposed to run or from the site in general - each and every ListMod has to deal with these things.
On top of that, Vel is on constant alert to make sure he has qualified SEs in the correct queue, he needs to make sure the OP has enough extra players that Moderators can steal some newer players when somebody inevitably flakes from their first game, and he deals with IC and first-time Newbie Moderator qualifying PMs on a constant basis.
Ignorance is bliss, people, but patience is a virtue.
PEDIT: @GrayFoxxxx - If you've "/inned" since Vel last updated the queues you won't appear in the OP at all until he updates it at least once.-

I'm positive if Vel were to enter this discussion this would be something he mentions, not only because he's had this discussion and mentioned this issue before, but because it's one that kindof slides by most players who've never Modded in this queue.THISis what keeps games going at a regular pace - not having an immediate replacement stops a game cold while people are already playing, which is debatably a bigger issue than keeping a game from starting.
For a discussion somewhat related to this one (I think there are still some valid points I didn't mention that pertain to this queue), feel free to look here. Find quadz08's first post in that topic and take a gander.
EDIT: I'm referring to this post.-

/in2modx3.No matter how high the stakes, sooner or later you're just gonna have to go with your gut.
And maybe, just maybe, that'll take you right where you were supposed to be.

Absolutely this. We could probably do with less than two full games worth of newbies in the queue, but honestly, better safe than sorry. It's much more important to keep the games currently launched from having to stop and wait multiple days for a replacement (something that destroys a game in progress) than to launch an extra game and get it going a few days earlier.-

Happily ever after ruleAlso, what is NM doing? Worst play I’ve ever seen.I can't remember the last N_M post that wasn't bland, unimaginative and lame. Some shitposters are at least somewhat funny. You are the epitomy of the type of poster that nobody would miss if you were to suddenly disappear. You never add anything of value.I'm guessing you haven't read the game and probably never will? Why even sign up to play?-
