A friend of mine told us about mafia for the first time back in 1992 or so. Later it became our favourite "party game".
Over the years we've reached a quite balanced yet funny setup with rules which had been inevitably different from the Internet rules. If you're interested in them I might explain.
Oh, I meant IRL. I was wondering if RL games start as sort of a university-style club or just organically in a group of friends as an actual party game.
Korts was our previous Hungarian, but he announced he needed to take some time off. So I guess you're our new resident Hungarian.
Well, thanks for calling me 'prominent' and 'resident', however, I registrated just a couple of days ago and I still have been queue-ing form my first game ^_^
As I've mentioned, I don't think there are clubs for Mafia here. But, playing Mafia shows up at many parties, or at least, we usually try to launch a couple of games whenever we get bored somewhere. Of course, IRL Mafia
is
different in many ways. Should a forum exist for IRL playing I'd gladly tell our setup (...which might sound weird for the veteran forum players).
Yeah, I've noticed, since he's answered in our native language. (Though, you might get an answer if you write me in 2 other languages as well.) Frankly, Korts, you've found me quickly. I hope it won't happen to me ingame if I play a scum ^_^
After lurking for longer than is typically considered insane and working through some registration glitches, I have finally made an account on this place. I've played 6ish games of Mafia on an offsite forum, wherein I was always town and would end up instantly nailing the godfather at which point I would figure that I was the most competent vanilla townie ever and mislynch the town cop and consider the serial killer the most pro-town person in the game.
Here's hoping for more of the insightful lynches with practice and less of me killing all of the town power roles on accident.
I used to be a fairly prominent member here, but I left the site a few years back and decided to return with a fresh new start. Here's to a more successful take 2.
I signed up exactly a year ago on 2013/07/02, and I now have a whopping FIVE counted posts and am playing my first game on this site. I meant to start playing here a long time ago but never got to it.
I've been playing mafia for about 2 years now, with 20-ish forums games and 10-ish live games in different settings under my belt. Also modded some games. So I consider myself experienced, although Mafia culture differs A LOT across different sites.
My first impression is that 2 week dead lines are outrageous.
Cool! I came from another site where we had 48 Hour Deadlines! I was pretty shocked at first too, but I think I prefer this much more. Allows for some actual time to think about stuff! Rarely does it ever make it to 2 weeks I'd say though!
Not a newbie in the traditional sense but I haven't been back in a long-ass time. I'd be surprised if anyone remembered me, therefore, so: HI! I'm Candice!
"Don't let go; never give up, it's such a wonderful life..."
Hi, i happened to find this site and decided to join, i have signed up for my first game and while i am waiting i would like to meet some of yall, thanks in advance for introducing yourself to me
EDIT: sorry for posting this in the wrong section earlier, didnt notice this thread exsited
