I think that Phoebus is just trying to look "right" by unvoting aude omnia and voting yesterdays. He did that just after scotmany post about watching him (and even added strange reference to scotmany).

I agree with Shanba; it gives a scum supposed "integrity" as if they lynch a town, they can say "Oh, but [so-andso] told me to!" or the like. It is quite scummy, IMO.

I think it's the scummiest thing we've seen so far. I don't want to develop a bandwagon so easily, though, especially when it is based on one post that is really indefensible [unless K_s was drunk at the time or something :p).

I dont see why you dont want a bandwagon. Bandwagons = discussion. theyre only bad if some idot puts them in range of a quicklynch. That being said, I dont think kill schmittys post was that suspicious. It seems to me like he was just asking people to post their suspicions, which isnt that bad an idea. Not having any ideas of your own I dont like, however.

Wasnt asking people who to vote for just asking if you have any suspicions in which i could look into. i was thinking the thread was dieing so i tried to make some discussion and it worked

Also, it may have worked to create discussion, but honestly, just because it has created discussion is not a justification of it. If I were to claim scum it would create discussion, but it wouldnt be a good thing.

Remember that in this game, there is no such thing as a quicklynch, at least on day 1. Since there is only 1 scum, someone needs to be on lynch -1 to be quicklynched- and then the person who quicklynched will get lynched the next day, thus winning the game for town.

Thats actually a good point, assuming we dont have any total noobs here. But theres still the possibilty someone doesnt see the votecount and casts the deciding vote, and then we lynch town d1 and d2. but that seems unlikely.

I don't want to be hasty, but I think I will return to my previous stance.

It's either sitting here making idle banter and voting on stupid posts, not scummy ones, OR creating a viable situation where we could tell the scum from the town.
Forgive me for lapsing out of character, but this game is slow as molasses and I cannot fathom this conversation amounting to anything but a mislynch if we're "lucky" and a deadline time-out if we're not.

I will go so far as to say that more talk today will only lead to confusion later. If we don't lynch the vamp, and they recruit, they will be able to point to a mountain of D1 posts that show their innocence [at the time they made them].

Even if someone could magically prove themselves not to be scum right now, we'd have no reason to believe them tomorrow. Every accusation is more ammunition for the vampire

later on, unless we have a majority of players willing to count on a miracle.

It is only the vampire's goal to stay alive. A townsperson's goal is to catch the vampire. Tonwies can complete that goal while dead, the vampire cannot. I believe you are placing entirely too much store in looking for connections between players and refusing to start until that is possible. Going back to a point I made earlier, players are caught most often without finding connections between them at all. In the case of an sk this is the only way to find them. I've listed some scumtells from lone scum already, and you can add to that list an unusual desire to stay alive.

This is simply not true. The more often a scum has to clarify his own intentions, post his opinions, the more likely he is to be caught in a contradiction. This is especially true as alignments are changing in this game and he is the only one who knows this. If he is down on record saying something that can be used against him at a later date, we are better off.

Right. Well actually, we're not trying to catch the recruited vampires: we're trying to catch the big fish. Catching a recruit is a distinct second best. So the fact that someone might become scum tomorrow isn't particularly important: we want the person who's scum today.

Every accusation is not more fodder for the vampires later on. It's more for the town to analyse. The more posts a person has, the easier it is to discern his alignment. Lurkers are basically impossible to read, and by having a good long discussion even the most hardcore of lurkers will have to post sometime.

I don't want a no lynch. The vampire's attitude will be different to the town's on who we lynch today. If we pressure the scum a bit, we might end up making him sweat, and then make mistakes. The fundamental point is that scum react differently to town, and by discerning these differences in reaction we can catch scum. By no lynching we can just give the day away and end up with more scum tomorrow.

I find it pretty suspicious that you dont care AT ALL who we lynch. I'm pretty sure any protown player here will have at least some suspicions for someone.
