{ROUND 05}

Devastated by the loss of their dear friend, the trainers exit Avaritia Swamp, lucky to be alive. Now the kids are starting to realize that this isn't a game anymore; their journey is a perilous one, and the stakes have never been higher.

{. . .}

After a night of rest camping under a grove of trees, the party makes their way into Avaritia City within an hour. They quickly find a Pokemon Center in efforts to alert Professor Willow of the ambush taken on them, and to see if she has any information on Team Mortem that they can utilize.

"They did WHAT?!" Professor Willow yells over video chat, outraged at the news. "How could someone kill an innocent child like that? I've heard stories of some group called Team Mortem, but I thought they were just some overblown gang. I never thought anyone in the region could be capable of something like this."

"It really shocked all of us too,"

Shiidaji

sighs timidly.

"We're not going to let anything slow us down though!"

D3f3nd3r

states with courage. "Now I'm only more determined to continue on, defeat Team Mortem, and take our revenge!"

Professor Willow smiles. "I knew you were a special bunch. Almost all of you made it out of that swamp alive, which is no easy task. If all of you feel that you're capable enough to continue your journey, then I trust your judgment"

After a few seconds of deliberation, the trainers all shout out in unison. "We're ready to make you proud!"

Professor Willow chuckles, "That's what I like to here! Now go find the gym leader and get some rest before taking him on, I'm sure he'll understand after what you've been through."

Walking through the streets of Avaritia City, the trainers are astonished. Upon first entering the city, none of them had noticed just how many hotels and neon signs lit up the sky. But the kids hide their awe as to not seem out of place in the bustling town, and keep their heads down in search for the gym.

After roughly half an hour of searching, a building resembling the gym is stumbled upon. But before the trainers can approach it, a loud argument breaks out between two men beside the front door of the building. The shorter, stocky, balding man seems to be angry at the slender, tall man with black hair gelled back, but the tall man is having none of it. Within a minute, what looks like security guards are escorting the short man away. The tall man sees the kids standing nearby, and approaches them casually, as if nothing had happened.

"What can I do for you kids?" the man asks suavely.

"What was that fuss all about?"

DeathNote

inquires, ignoring the question.

The man sighs. "Just another angry customer. I get a lot of those. I give loans to the countless tourists that come through, but none of them ever read the paperwork, which requires that they give me one of their Pokemon within a week, or 20% interest on the loan."

"Well you're a nice guy,"

scoffs.

"Hey, not my fault people don't know how to read," the man laughs. "Now, what do you want?"

"We're looking for the gym."

"Well you've found it!" the man exclaims. "I'm Thomas, the gym leader, and this is my gym right here! Judging from the look of you kids, you must be the ones I heard about from Professor Willow. Anyways, I'll give you a day to rest since you went through all that trouble to get here, but we might as well take a look at all the Pokemon I've got available for y'all. Come inside, these are some of the ones I've acquired from my.. uh, transactions."

@orc: I mean, most unevolved 'mons have low stats, so base 60 at Level 14 is actually a good stat. Even though it eventually becomes a ridiculous stat.
About this challenge: I totally have no clue about how one third of the available 'mons even work.
EDIT: And either way Kecleon can access many of those 90 BP moves itself, so I think that point is somewhat moot.

In one to three rounds, a majority of the unevolved Pokemon with have evolved and have stats at that caliber or better. Also, Kecleon was placed this early on specifically so that he would be useful in battles for a few rounds before everything is stronger than him.

Don't worry, I think most people are going to be obsessing over a specific other Pokemon there.

That said, if I end up getting Espurr because everything above it was already taken, I'm blaming the people above me for taking the things above him, and putting no responsibility on myself.

Granted but given my current pokemon, i have limited choices on things to make my team better, and unfortunately i have no clue what half these pokemon are cause i never played the new gen's
