Bets entered this week were overwhelmingly in favor for winner Tiershift. As such, even though large amounts of money were bet, the winnings were scarce.

If cxinlee had won, Yiley would have no less than 253. Alas, it was not meant to be.

Spoiler: Some changes

If all the people in one round bet on a single trainer, then the pay for winning will be 1/[bets received that round]. I realize that the current system has a few drawbacks, namely the inability for large payoffs unless a lot of people also bet against you, but it's necessary and perhaps the only system for player-created odds.

The trainers were awoken early the next morning by the exuberant cheering of Professor Willow. "Rise and shine, kids, it's time for your very first Gym Battle!"

led their teams into formation, giving them short, but enthused pep talks before Abraham intercepted with a rather uninterested explanation of his Gym Challenge.

"For your challenge today," Abraham spoke firmly, "you will be navigating a grid of squares using your knowledge of different Pokemon species. The

Red Team

will begin at the

left end

of the grid, while the

Blue Team

will begin at the

right

. Starting at

7:00 EST

, each team will attempt to make it to the other side of the grid. To claim a square, the player attempting to claim it must

state the coordinates of the square they wish to claim,

and

state the name of a Pokemon that starts with the letter which is shown in the square

. A square may only be claimed if it is

adjacent to the team's side

,

vertically or horizontally adjacent

to a square already claimed by that team, and

not already occupied

. A player may attempt to claim a square

every 10 minutes

. If a player tries to claim a square using a Pokemon that has

already been used

or

doesn't exist

, that player is

prohibited from further participation

in the challenge.

No outside sources may be used.

The winning team is the team that either reaches the other team's side first, or occupies the square furthest away from their side once 4 hours have passed. The members of the winning team will all receive first choice of Pokemon over members of the losing team, with order of distribution determined by individual number of squares captured by each player. The captain of the winning team must choose 2 players from the losing team to send into the first elimination battle. For convenience's sake, team captains may submit player selections in the case of a win before the challenge is over.
