You should've seen Oso's field of dreams.
I think I took home almost a full stack of EACH KIND of flower pictured there, just from shaving off the outside 2-3 rows of the perfect square of flowers by his house.

Dav, what're you talking about when you say "Vanilla Server"?
Speaking of which, I haven't abandoned Rhinox or Tierce - I'm going to be looking into updating to 1.7.2/4 soonish.

Keep in touch!

Well if you'd posted here saying when you'd be on I would've made time, bra. Haha

I'll do that soonish, but also know I'm going to be updating us to fix the structure loading soonish.
That means I don't really know what w're going to do about the 1.7 jump...since I'm guessing people don't want to lose our Strongholds.

World structures not manually loaded by players approaching them after we update to 1.6.4 will be lost when we update to 1.7. I'm not sure if it's serious enough that it would even effect structures not previously generated in 1.6.x with our current seed, but it's a notable issue that's been the talk of Mojira for awhile now.

Please note: "world structures" = Strongholds, Jungle Temples, Desert Pyramids, Mineshafts, Dungeons

I'm NOT saying people will lose their builds. As serious an issue as this is, it's not THAT serious.
That being said, this is the "update that changed the world here." My opinion is that that speaks for itself...

I'm even willing to do WorldEditing to bring builds along with us in the update.

Tierce, Rhinox, Bulbazak, and UT especially should get back to me with their thoughts on that.

Exactly - I'm not very good at explaining but that's the idea. Thanks Xalxe.

What I don't know is if it effects structures not-already-generated.
If it does I'm afraid I'll have to force a restart, because that's ridiculous.

Also, Tierce, my main issue with risking this type of worldswitch is that given how much people have explored it's more likely than not that all three Strongholds have been loaded and generated, though we may not know where they are. Not knowing where they are, we can't possibly go find and locate all three (especially in-between updates; especially given server activity level) and we'll likely lose them with the update to 1.7.2. This would force me to fabricate an End Portal for us to even get to The End, which isn't something I think any of us want to happen.

Not that I wouldn't gladly make the portal - I bet it would take 5 minutes, tops, from game load-up to portal opening - it's just that that's far and above any form of "aboose" we've had before, and it's also kindof just an icky fix for something that shouldn't be a problem.

PE: It's called Amidst, but I used it semi-recently and it looks like some recent update broke it, at least for the download I have.
I can try again but that's also some form of cheating I'm not truly interested in.

Right, I KNEW izak would've found one: it's through Tierce/Klaz's portal to the NetherCobbleHub, then down a long tunnel, turn left, down a glass tunnel over lava, back into the OW, down a hallway and down a ladder on the left. Whatever you guys want to do is fine by me as well; I'll do the extra hour or whatever-it-would be to go chunkload the cool stuff everybody's found or I can just throw up the world for download, copy some of the builds and WorldEdit them into a fresh 1.7 world.

I'm going to listen more to the people who actually spend time on the server, because we don't keep the server open for people to not be on it. Rhinox was right on that count the last time this issue was brought up. Tierce, Rhinox, Bulba, Klaz, Claus, izak, UT, ETL, you guys talk it over.

If people want me to, I will. I want more input from the people who use the server, it seems like we have a lot of "do whatever"s and I'm saying those people need to decide what the "whatever" is. :P

then people wanted lolstability

either way, vanilla is going to 1.6.4 so the debate can continue and people who want the current world to stay can go hang around izak'stronghold to load it up once I do the update. rally my only qualm is that having to travel thousands of blocks for new stuff isn't rally wha I want to do, but tierce's point is a valid one, I guess we couldn't've really just cut and paste the old spawntown onto the new map either

1.6.4 was basically a "patch update" meant to go right in btween a 1,6,2 server and a 1,7 update
it fixed the above issue but not without little hitches along the way

Klaz wrote:"A screw-up happened with my bank account, putting me in the negative, and that caused the Vanilla Server to go unpaid. I didn't know until I checked my bank account recently. So, it seems I cannot keep on paying for the Vanilla Server."

So.

Basically what this means is that nobody has even tried to log in to the Vanilla Server for the past 4 days...and if they have I don't know why they didn't mention it was down. All we're asking for at this point is some small donation from somebody who does play on the server on a consistent basis. Unfortunately, neither Klazam nor I qualify based on that, and neither of us can afford it anyway. If you'd like to have an Admin switchover as well, now is the perfect time, since the new client for our hosting company will have to either set me up with the appropriate privileges or handle that themselves.

Regardless of whether we get a donation or not, and regardless of whether we restart to 1.7.2 or not, the current server is inaccessible in every interpretation of the word. In addition to (obviously) not allowing players access on account of it being locked off, I'm locked out of file access as well, and I can't provide anyone with a current world download without us first paying for a least one more cycle on the current Vanilla Server.

Donation talk should be in PM's to Klaz, but here is his donation PayPal link.
Admin/Restart discussion can continue in-thread.

I'm not saying I want to quit, I'm just saying if people want an Admin who plays Vanilla more than anything else it probably won't ever be me and they should choose somebody else.

As it is, none of the plugins we would want to use on a "plugin-light" server are even updated so that's not an issue.

Regardless of what happens from here on out, here's a current world download from a backup I just made of the Vanilla Server's world files.

EDIT: It's in Bukkit world format, which isn't directly readable by the Vanilla Minecraft client. To switch it back...

Step 1
: Copy the unzipped world folders to the "saves" folder of your .minecraft directory. (Keep the .zip file as a backup...just in case?)
To find your .minecraft folder ~ launch Minecraft, select "Options", select "Resource Packs", select "Open Resource Pack Folder", go up one level. Voila!

Step 2
: Navigate to the "world_nether" and "world_the_end" directories you've copied over.
Step 3
: Move the
ENTIRE
"world_nether/DIM-1" folder to the "world" directory from
Step 1
.
Step 4
: Do the same for "world_the_end/DIM1" folder.
Step 5
: Delete the rest of the "world_nether" and "world_the_end" directories. You shouldn't need them in the Vanilla client.
Profit
: Hope and pray and start up the world. Testing out Portals would be a good idea, to make sure it all worked.

I strongly encourage any hold-outs that haven't gotten involved in vanilla again in the past few weeks to do so. The community is very strong there at the moment, and it's better than modded as a result.

I can pay for another month so that you have longer to find another owner. Just tell me how
I already have the person who I'm passing files along to - the reason the server is shutting down at the moment is because of lack of interest, for the most part. Vanilla is running full steam at the moment and no one has stepped foot on modded in a while. It's up to the person with the files when they decide to bring RobCraft back up (probably with a new name >.> ), but the idea was floated that it could possibly be when Forge is updated to 1.7.

Uh, why do you keep saying "some future owner"...?

Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks. At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as the game grew players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things.

It can also be about adventuring with friends or watching the sun rise over a blocky ocean. It’s pretty. Brave players battle terrible things in The Nether, which is more scary than pretty. You can also visit a land of mushrooms if it sounds more like your cup of tea.

You can buy Minecraft for PC/Mac. Minecraft: Pocket Edition is available for iOS and Android, and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is available on the XBLA Marketplace.

So far 10,821,798 people bought the PC/Mac version of the game. Phew.

Spoiler: The Official MafiaScum Vanilla Minecraft Server
This is the Minecraft server currently running the most-updated version possible of the original game client and server. Cutting-edge, and just as Notch and Jeb intended. We update with the newest Release version available for both client and server from the Mojang developers blog, so please check the thread for notifications and announcements.

To connect to the Vanilla server, download the "New" Minecraft Launcher.
This link is for Windows. This link is for Macintosh. This link is for Linux and everything else.

Once you have the Launcher, double check that your version (in the bottom right hand corner) matches the server version.

The current Server version is Minecraft Release v1.7.2

The Server IP address is
209.222.5.155:25596

Server Rules
 1. Don't build ugly shit.
 2. No griefing or stealing.
 3. No PvP without consent.
PLEASE PM MAESTRO WITH AWESOME PHOTOS SO AN ALBUM CAN GO HERE SOONISH

Eek, gotta update this. Sorry Klaz... Image

Come chat us up on #mafiacraft on irc.esper.net from an IRC client or click here!

For information on Modded Minecraft, go here, here, or here!

The first link takes you to the semi-Official CurseForge Minecraft Forums; the go-to location to begin finding Mods for Minecraft!
The other links are to the Minecraft Coder Pack (MCP) webpage and the Minecraft Forge (FML) Forums - those are what makes it all tick!
Digging through these sites, and seem to be of particular import to the current discussion.

Tried that one back over the summer - surprisingly polished/stable and true to the series' content.
(e.g. Pokemon locations are true to form, if not their rarity and level - also APRICOTS <3)

My only problem with it was that it removed all Vanilla Mobs (except, I would hope, the Dragon)
with that came the extra caveat that to get (say) meat, I'd have to (for instance) kill something like a Miltank

I'm not about that bullshit.

Thanks for bringing that to everybody's attention, Tierce.

I very much have the power to figure out who it was. Please step forward or I'm banhammering.

Been too many issues with stealing on our servers in recent memory and it's not happening again.
Please spread this word to those who play on the server but do not frequent this thread.

Yup. Another theft means I'm checking the logs, throwing the server files up on MCEdit, and finding out who's stealing.
Odds are one of three people is gonna be banned before the hour's out. PM me in private and the ban will be limited.

Server is closed in the interim.

The Vanilla Server will be frozen until every person who has logged in and has a significant place of residence reports back to this thread with coordinates indicating the general location of said residence.
People who I do not have this data for, and who are therefore priority: mist7676 & Klazam33, 1baldeagle1, Bulbazak, jsav93 & Kassil, Osota, Rhinox331, and TBone.

Everyone else was either in their house when they last logged out, or I already knew where it was.

Ok, well, as much as I hate to admit it all inventories and Ender Chests look clear and I can't find any direct evidence in any readily available chests.

The Vanilla Server has updated to 1.7.4 - please update your clients accordingly!

For those of you in-the-know, this means there is now integrated Twitch streaming from within Minecraft.

Please note, there's a single caveat Mojang placed on Twitch streaming, detailed below. (I assume it's because they want people switching over to the swanky new "Mojang" accounts rather than continuing to use to the Minecraft accounts.)
Mojang wrote:At Minecon we announced our new partnership with Twitch to bring one-click broadcasting to Minecraft. It has been in the recent snapshots, and proven to be very stable and ready to go live.

Before you can start streaming, you will need to visit your Mojang account settings and link a Twitch account to your Mojang account. Then in the game you may check the quality settings in Options -> Broadcast Options, or just go ahead and start broadcasting at any time by hitting F6. This key can be configured in the Controls options.

This is only supported on Windows (Vista and higher) and Mac OS X Lion (10.7) and higher.
If you cannot start broadcasting ingame for any reason, the game will tell you why and possibly how to fix it.
Also note, that on our server you are
OBLIGATED
to respect others' rights to privacy - ask
PERMISSION
to stream if you are not the only person online and please continue to do so if new players log in while you are streaming. Nobody is obligated to give you permission to stream if they are not comfortable doing so.

Finally, it goes without saying that posting the IP of the server publicly is also
HIGHLY
frowned upon.
If people express interest in joining the server and they desperately want the IP and/or whitelisting, direct them to this thread as always.

Thanks everybodaaay! :D
-M

Spoiler:
P.S. To those who care, you'll now see me on any Minecraft server as "wMaestro". Should be a bit easier on those jumping into the server from the site who don't know me IRL, and I'd been meaning to switch over to my "alt" account at Mojang for some time. Which means I might be around streaming stuff! Who knows!

You all decide - I want to avoid past fiascos and say that every reasonably active player on Vanilla must have some say in when this happens.
I'd like to at least try and participate myself, obviously just as a streamer/recorder and bystander, but I wouldn't ask that it be scheduled around me.

I think it would be fun, in the future and starting with this event, to have a Skype or Teamspeak room for all willing participants.

What do people think about that idea?

Yeah...no Egg shenanigans. You all can build some fancy structure at spawn (by the Nether Portal?) and I'll make sure it's protected.

It's most likely a crash that occurred as soon as you placed the first of the bugged conduits that didn't reach client-side until you placed the second one. It's also most likely a child issue from DartCraft's previous incompatibility with TE2 Machines - the sustainable data from Crescenting the TE Machines has never played nice with DartCraft's (admittedly, kindof buggy) Force Wrench.

If it needs to be MCEdited out, I'll be able to do it at some point if ETL/Blake need/want me to. I'll jump on IRC now.

The server is down.

M is looking into it now.
I restarted the server earlier this evening on Tierce's ping from IRC.

At this point, however, our hosting server itself is down.

I will either let everyone know when I receive updates or we will look into an alternative solution if this becomes long-term.
Either that, or just keep trying to log in - you may know sooner then I when the server is back up. We'll see.

Sorry for the inconvenience, in the meantime I recommend checking out ETL's ISO and looking into Modded Minecraft, if you're at all interested!

To join us:
 1. Download the FTB launcher and update it if necessary.
 2. Select the Direwolf20 mudpack for 1.6.4 v 1.0.2 and click launch to download the pack. Follow any prompts given until Minecraft launches, then exit the game to go back to the launcher.
 3. Download DartCraft version 0.2.13 and save it to FTB/Direwolf20_1_6_4/minecraft/mods
You only have to do this once to set the pack up. Once done, you are ready to play. :] Send me a PM with your username for whitelisting (because I don't have the old one).

Launch Minecraft from FTB and use the following IP to connect to the server:
208.167.228.163:25622

If you have any questions or need help with anything, blakewashere is my co-admin, and both of us can usually be found on IRC #mafiacraft.

Spoiler: Notes about specific mods
MYSTCRAFTThis is the only thing I'm going to be a dick about. Everything else you have free reign.

You need to register your ages.

That means when you
make
one, send me a PM, email, text message, etc, with the AGE NUMBER.
Each person is allowed 2 registered ages - no more.
If you wish to donate an age to the server or share it with everyone, that's fine; I'll allow up to 3 "shared server ages" that would not count as your own, but it has to serve a good purpose. I'll be doing mass age clean-up every Sunday, and any age not registered with me goes bye-bye without warning. (So if you want to experiment and make a bunch of crap ages, that's fine, but they'll be gone before the week is out unless you choose to register it in place of one of your others.)

DARTCRAFTThis mod changes the look of the health and experience bar to look like the old Zelda games. This is a personal preference and you can change it in the dartcraft config file.

1) Open the file FTB/Direwolf20_1_6_4/minecraft/config/dartcraft in a text editor.
2) Find the option for Zelda health and change it from true to false.
3) Save.

OPTIFINEThis isn't actually in the pack, but you can use it if you want. However, because some mods in this pack have chosen not to support OptiFine, if you DO want to use it, you'll need the following workaround:

Download OptiFine C6 Standard
Download optifinefml.7z

Follow these steps:
1. Make a copy of the OptiFine jar file you just downloaded.
2. Open optifinefml.7z and the OptiFine jar in an archive program (7-Zip or WinRAR or WinZip).
3. Copy the contents of optifinefml.7z into the OptiFine jar.
4. Close archive program.
5. Copy the OptiFine jar file to FTB/Direwolf20_1_6_4/minecraft/mods

Rules:
1) Don't be a jerk.
2) Register your Mystcraft ages.

That's it!

<3

PS.
Here's the post I'm referring to! Most of it should be accurate but I can't be 100% certain.
There's more information in the OP for those interested, take it easy guys!

P.S. Xayzeck: the IRC is only active during peak times of day/night, usually around 9 PMish EST. My bouncer is sitting there all the time, usually [Away], so if you ever need anything just ping me and I'll eventually see it. (Even if I was [A] when you pinged me.) Try and either stay on IRC till I'm back from [A] or I'll get back to you here. Apologies for the wait on your whitelisting, I was doing a check.

Please check out the updated section of the OP on Hosting Donations. We've upgraded the server's RAM and usage plan to 2048 MB.
The spoiler contains all of the server's known specifications, and a donation link for helping our server owner (if you'd like).

The current Server version is Minecraft Release v1.7.4

The Server IP address is
209.222.5.155:25596

Server Rules
 1. Don't build ugly shit.
 2. Don't be an ass.
 3. No PvP without consent. (This includes griefing or stealing.)

NOT COOL.

My stable is handled by a mechanism that fools them into thinking they don't have space to escape. I haven't had trouble with this so far.

However, at least three horses have escaped today. This means someone was inside my stable and either rode them or pushed them out of their stalls. And then didn't ride them back. Why would you do something like that?

And who the hell cut down ALL the swamp trees by my place? They have specific shapes, I can't replant them, and you didn't even bother to leave a note or saplings. Trees OUTSIDE the wall! In my area!

In other words, yeah, I'm pissed. This is a lack of respect.
Where are we talking about here...? They're building by Rhino's pyramid, on the other side of the bay from you...

Ohey guys!

The server is now running Minecraft 1.8 weekly snapshot 14w02c!

Everybody thank Tierce for being extra attentive about keeping me in line behind my time-tables!

Here's some handy advice from Mojang on how to use snapshots, if you haven't before...
Mojang wrote:To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher.
...or (if ours is the only server you care about having the version for, or you just don't want a new profile or something) just go to "Profile Editor" in the launcher, double-click on your active profile (which might be the only one there) and select "snapshot 14w02c" from the dropdown menu under the "Version Selection" section.

Cheers! No more wall fighting, pwease?

Sorry, but I'd like to ask you to put this on hold - we've had some truly awful lag issues lately...maybe restrict your "journeying" to when not many people are on...?

Am I the only one who looks at Rhino's "history lesson" and wants this whole "this is my area" attitude to go away? I've really disliked it wherever I've seen it, not just now, and the only times it's actually really pertinent are when a location is attractive from the worldgen up - even then, we don't
have
"plots" of land at this point, so I really don't think people should be claiming land like we do...

You have a house, you have yard, you probably have connecting pathways and such, and yeah "sightlines" are potentially an issue (that's what the Ugly Shit rule is for), so why do we need large swaths of land near spawn to be under ownership...?

In post 16139, Rhinox wrote:It is remarkably similar to how our current server spawn area is developing - organically, footpaths between places, no walls, etc. But it was generally understood that people didn't really claim large areas around spawn - just enough to build a modest house and decorate the immediate area, maybe dig a mine with the understanding that someone else might dig into your mine due to proximity, and there was an understanding that pretty much anywhere within close proximity to spawn bay was fair game as far as new people coming in and building a house.
[...snipped this bit out because the Ugly Shit rule is wonderful...]
The understanding was that if you wanted to have a huge area or control the type of builds around it (or request that no one build around your area), then you would move a distance away from spawn bay and be secluded.

In post 16139, Rhinox wrote:We had all sorts of community farms within, and when we filled up everywhere within the wall, we would tear a section down and expand. Pretty much any empty space inside the wall was considered community space that anyone could build on. If people had plans for areas, people would put up signs and post in thread saying so. I built a small house on the bay, and built a fenced boardwalk along the coast instead of a solid wall for the mob-proofing there. The house was mine, but the boardwalk was community - even housed the nether portal for a while. We had tunnels connecting all the houses underground - the origin of the Hub, and scenic underground and above ground walk ways up to spawn from the village.

Thanks for apologizing, Bone. <3 Also, sorry if it was a thing you wanted actually addressed, but the comment about the switch to the snapshot didn't pass me by - ask Tierce about that switch and you'll find I waited almost a week to switchover while waiting for the worst bugs to get worked out. Honestly, the snapshots are relatively stable, or they wouldn't be released. They're as much a part of the ongoing dev environment as any release, so that's why I thought it was clear we'd be switching over when new ones come out (and we can wait a bit for the Big Bad Bugs to get squashed). :)

P.S.

Er, yeah, no. This horrendous lag started right after Klaz upgraded us to 2GB, and has been going on semi-sporadirandomly since.
This is not the fault of the snapshot, it is something in the server or it is something to do with our hosts, or both.

Don't set it to "latest" since we haven't updated to 14w03 yet. Set it to our snapshot.

Vanilla Coal / Redstone / Lapis / Diamond / Emerald / Gold, Metallurgy Silver, Thermal Expansion Lead, Vanilla Iron, Metallurgy Copper / Tin / Manganese / Sulfur / Bitumen / Saltpeter / Mithril, Biomes of Plenty Ruby, Project: Red Ruby / Sapphire, Thermal Expansion Ferrous, IndustrialCraft Uranium, GregTech Ruby, AND OTHERS --- that's what's in that chest and all of them have to be input into the Digital Miner via their OreDict entries or it won't mine them. Either that or Silk Touch a block of each Ore you want it to mine. It's a little bit more setup than any other autominer, but worth it.

Once you have it set up with the Ores you want it to mine, it'll scan within the radius you give it (max is 32 blocks) and it'll mine ONLY those blocks. No excess Stone or Cobble. You can set it to Silk Touch blocks if you're mining stuff you can process better than just regular mining (e.g. Redstone, Lapis, and gemstones with Fortune picks), and you can set it to auto-replace the Ores it mines with any block you have enough of, which you'll want to do to prevent little holes in the ground all around your base where it mined Ores, which could lead to a bunch of Mobs spawning, etc. (I just pump shit tons of Stone into it from a Thermal Expansion Igneous Extruder.)

It's 3x2x2 blocks in size, accepts power through every side, and has a clearly marked input (for the replacing block) and output (for mined Ores/etc.). It can even auto-pull blocks from the input and auto-push blocks into the output.

For those interested in the new Modded Server pack that's finishing development right now...

http://www.quicktopic.com/50/H/MKpcxaF549dv

I just finished the triple check of all config files that ETL asked me to do for her - the post by me in that QT is every change from the default configs, recorded for transparency and open for player input. Talk to ETL, Rob, or Blake ("blakewashere") on our if you have questions, comments, concerns, etc. Klaz will be helping by configuring all of our different Mods' in-game keybinds (e.g. what key you press to charge your tool or open the minimap menu) and he'll make a post in that QT as soon as he's done with that.

I'm sure ETL will have more on how to set up this custom pack and server details and what-not soon(ish).

New snapshot looks like awesome. 10/10, would update if I weren't positive there'll be a B and C version out by this weekend.

For Vanilla folks:
Update time again! And we skipped one...? Aw well!

The server is now running Minecraft 1.8 weekly snapshot 14w04b!

Here's some handy advice from Mojang on how to use snapshots, if you haven't before...
On their site, Mojang wrote:To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher.
...or (if ours is the only server you care about having the version for, or you just don't want a new profile or something) just go to "Profile Editor" in the launcher, double-click on your active profile (which might be the only one there) and select "snapshot 14w04b" from the dropdown menu under the "Version Selection" section.

For Modded folks:
In the Scumpack QT, M wrote:
Scumpack v1.1 Release

Changelog:

- Fixed Metallurgy trading / Mariculture jewelry item ID conflicts and weirdness.
- Fixed Factorization machine / Project: Red multipart item ID conflicts.
- Updated to Mystcaft v0.10.12.01 (from v0.10.11.00) since it was labeled "hotfix" and assumed crucial.
Also,
NEW WRITING DESK MODEL!

- Updated to OpenBlocks v1.2.4 (from v1.2.2) to fix a crucial issue with gravestones.
(
NOTE: previous change, now implemented in linked download.
)
- After testing, removed Galacticraft and all associated dependencies.
(
NOTE: back-up was made in case ETL wants to revert.
)

As always, the updated download link is in the spreadsheet.

Maru...just check the QT for the changelog and plz don't spam shit we see every time we load up our pack. :P
Apologies, Tierce - that wasn't even mentioned in the logs I checked on Mojira.

Is this a huge problem for anyone besides you...? I will spawn in any Item Frames/Framed Items which despawn from dropping off and being kept loaded with players online.

*** interaction with other players =/= using all available infrastructure instead of making your own if that's what causes you to lose motivation ***

The motivation for playing SMP is the former - it's pretty obvious when you think about the difference between
SINGLE
player and
MULTI
player.
You seem to be saying you're losing motivation for doing something that's your choice, that's all I'm saying. :P sounds kinda silly...

I'm still waiting for information on when we're going to do an ender dragon run.
People on Vanilla need to decide that as a collective - Oso was discussing a Wither Battle on Modded.

Also please note the V/LA and understand the fastest way to contact me is via PM, which sends me emails, which go to my phone - or contact Klaz (who has Owner/Admin permissions on the control panel for Vanilla), ETL, or maybe any of the IRCers. Most of them should have my phone number and I don't want them just giving it out, so they'll forward any concerns about Vanilla.

People should really use IRC more... :P

Actually, I can't. I already told her as much...I'm kinda useless when it comes to Windows unless it's an actual Minecraft-specific issue. This seems to be more related to jarfile weirdness, Windows loading shenanigans, or other such hoohah I know not-much about...

See the ceiling where the pumpkins are/were? that is the first level of my maze. Since I don't know which blocks you tried to replace up there, I pretty much gotta tear that whole section out and build it again.

How fucking hard is it to say something if you get ppls shit creepered? And how the hell did it happen anyways? the hallway that got creepered is down a 1 block hole in the middle of a lit up area. creepers don't just wander in/down there on their own, it would have had to have been led down there either purposefully or accidentally.
Whoever did this needs to PM me now.

I'm sick and tired of needing everyone to be constantly conscious because things go missing or are blown up, or we get random mystery lag, or other such bullshit. If EVERYONE can't follow the basic rules of the server, read my posts and the posts of others about things that matter on-server, and GET ALONG - I can and will be the first Op to make this server a closed one.

If this does happen, I'd first like to stipulate that anyone who was a contributing player on a previous world will be automatically whitelisted.

Those who were not will either have some kind of application process to go through at that point, or they'll be out of luck.

Besides Klaz's friend Ovie and Claus's friend Osota, (and excluding Klaz who jumps on to check on it every time he restarts it) the only people who've been on the server since February are mist7676 and Untrod Tripod...for less then 5 minutes combined. Ovie himself has more playtime than every single other person who's logged in since 2013
combined
.

This is definitely not why we keep a server open - if it were free it'd be one thing. But it's not.
I see no reason for Klaz to pay next month for his friend to play on our server.

World files will be made available when the shutdown happens.
I'd be perfectly happy to Admin a restart when 1.8 is released.

Yes - hence him saying we're all more than technologically advanced. :P

Not gonna lie though, Maru; I got peeved when I forced my way into a Stronghold and through the Portal near our house and found the crystals all pre-boomed. Since it's SO easy to kill the bugger in Modded to begin with, shouldn't you have left what little remained of the challenge for the group to complete as normal?

Either way, I saw no Oblivion Hives underneath the Island and I have seen none of the Bees in anybody's stuff...so I'm assuming there's some bug with generation I wanna look into ASAP, ETL. Infernal Hives generate en masse (at least in the Nether Age
I've made) so I know Magic Bees isn't entirely borked, but I will need Oblivions eventually. :)

We have no access to any of the Vanilla Server's files, unfortunately - including the backups made.

PytoHost is well and truly dead. All the server nodes I can see are offline with an error (including ours), they tweeted within the last month about sending some customers to an LA-based hosting company (but didn't explain why) and I'm not receiving a response from their support team on any of our issues.

Sorry all. :(

Klaz and I have created a Modded Server for our own use on Minecraft 1.7.x and it's with a new hosting service called "Exile Servers". What we've done is take advantage of what they call their "Minecraft Cloud" service where we essentially buy an amount of memory and can put as many physical servers in that space as we can realistically fit. I'd been planning on shrinking and buffing the amount of memory in our personal server and using the leftovers for events for the community if people would be interested...

But another thing I could do is section of a chunk for a new Vanilla Server. This wouldn't
necessarily
require donations but they'd be appreciated and it would increase the amount of memory we would have to work with in general for events going on at the same time that Vanilla is online. If people are interested let me know, no other questions are up for discussion right now. No version talk, none of that; just look at the poll and let me know what you think.

Nevermind, polls seems to be eternally fucked. I'll post to Site Ideas about this issue.

I'll be PMing previously active members of the community, but please feel free to post here with thoughts on a new Vanilla Server.

Maru, you always do this kindof thing: we asked and nobody's interested. You can let it go...
I don't go on IRC nowadays, for my own reasons. You can PM me with questions or get on ScumChat.

You have no idea how hilarious this is to me.

Kcd: "limited plugins" + "increasing world border" is an oxymoron

I'd be interested in getting Vanilla started again with this laissez-faire vision, but we'd definitely need to be more concerned about who let onto the server if there's 0 protection against what they might do just for kicks. Some people just wanna watch the block-y world burn.

For the record, CraftBukkit (the only server software I could think of that would be able to do the "increasing world border" thing) is only 1.7.9 compatible in theory. They're on Beta builds, which I'm not all too excited about using on a community server. Modded is different, rampant bugs should be expected - that expectation doesn't exist in Vanilla and shouldn't have to.

So we're either looking at a "wait for 1.8" (which I'd prefer anyway) or "downgrade and hope shit works later" approach.

Problem is we historically haven't known who fucks shit up on our servers because they don't usually advertise it, with one definitive exception. Either way I'm just speaking generally. Another consideration is accidents that could be prevented with some kind of protection... I'm thinking about certain people who have a knack for dying, sometimes near structures and in ways [read: Creeper] that fuck up other people's shit.

There's no way to access it, it's lost with everything else from PytoHost. I'd suggest only whitelisting people who've posted in this thread since the new discussion began about bringing Vanilla back, then work from there.

ETL, you should go into the server config files in the main directory for each server and change "enable-query=false" to "true" so that I can make you a server banner for each of them. It'll show the MS.net logo and it'll include server status ("Online" or "Offline") and the number of players online.
