At this point in the game the scum have the luxury of being outspoken and aggressive as every argument boils down to WIFOM. If done propery, they can control the game by shifting the focus to the player of their choosing.
I think it is also especially interesting thatGaurdianandRafflesare defending each other so early. With no voting record, or any statements that can be verified, they have absolutely no reason to be patting each other on the back.
I'm interested to see if my post will inspire a retaliatory OMGUS vote.
Also, most players have their mind made up regarding a day 1 speedlynch. Personally, I don't like them. I don't beleive this game is about luck, and that is why I play. I will approach the game as logically as possible, and not resort to dice rolls for any voting, ever.

A newb speedlynch is a scum's favourite tactic for D1. Exactly because newb tells and scums tells are so similar. A newb under pressure will react badly, even more compelling "evidence", = mislynch (or correct lynch by luck). This is why I'm telling to be careful of scums subtly nudging to lynch a newb.
I hope that answers Peter's question. This is why I'm appearing to defend Guardian so vehemently, even though I'm not trying to.
And speaking of which, I just found someone that fits the discription.
Exactly the sort of "nudging" that I'd expect from a scum. Why? His reason is Guardian "appearing so town like". This falls into one of the logical fallacies "too townie".Avinyl wrote:Because this was in the evening, i was tired, and i hadn't time to read. However, Slight Finger of Suspicion: Guardian for appearing so town-like.
Too townie (for more info, look in the wiki) - Accusing someone for being a scum because the person appears too townie.
e.g. The guardian appears too pro-town. He must be a scum.
This is not valid reasoning, take a look at flip side of the coin.
e.g. The guardian appears too scummy, he must be a town
The second statement makes no sense at all. Therefore there is no reason why first one should. Luring town into a failed logic doesn't do well in my book, as my vote on Vryklan show.

Hey, this won't be as logical or long as a post as you usually will get from me; I am inebriated. I love the tiger shit rofl, nice April fool's joke!
Raffles: If someone is trying to appear too townie like, isn't that a reason for voting for them? Your argument doesn't make much sense; no one tries to appear scum-like, whereas scum would try to appear townie-like.
I think Peter is misguided/scummy/hasn't read closely enough: I am the only vote for Raffles lol, and I still suspect him highly. Peter randomly throwing suspicion on my for protecting Raffles (which I have not done) is mysterious.
I don't see John as scummy yet, though he may be. Avinyl I still find suspicious as well as Vry peter and Raffles.
And John, why night one kill me? It's not like I'm a power role. PS: mafiaz, plz don't night1 kill me.
Mmmm yeah that's it for now, love the tiger theme.Do not lynch me.

I only have one vote, and there was a tie. I wisely decided that capital letters counted twice, but I FoSed DLMF to make up for it.gorckat wrote: Didn't mustafa vote John for having the shortest name? Seeing DLMF, I call crap-logic on mustafa!
I was at a sleepover, which is why I haven't made a serious post yet. This will change.-
I've read up a little and it seems that casting a die, doing an actual random vote, and requesting that everyone follow it is the pro-townie thing to do.
What games did you read this in? It is a behavior I haven't seen.
Avinyl- the too townie thing is a bit of a stretch.
Ichigo- Why does John not seem to be finding scum? You've posted less than he has...-

gorckat - I read it in some thread discussing alternative methods of playing - I probably misinterpreted a strategy that would work for some specific setup as a general one - I thought it was a general one though. And I've seen dice used a lot on page one in threads so I thought dice made sense.
igmeoeveryone but gorckat.
I see what people mean about being suspicious about John... and he set up nicely the Guardian will get lynched prediction. Predictions always trip me out.Do not lynch me.

Try the third one. I didn't see your vote on Raffles.Guardian wrote:I think Peter is misguided/scummy/hasn't read closely enough: I am the only vote for Raffles lol, and I still suspect him highly. Peter randomly throwing suspicion on my for protecting Raffles (which I have not done) is mysterious.
It still does seem weird that he is defending you, especially since you are voting on him. I said it before, but he has no indication one way or the other regarding your role. Defending and attacking in day one is mostly WIFOM.
Scum has the liberty of being more outspoken early on, as they have several people who can defend their actions. With 1/4 to 1/3 of the players being on their team it is easy to sway the town in sublte ways.

You shouldn't say things like this out loud. You should write them down in your own little notepad and make observations. For example, if Guardian isJohn wrote:Guardian, you are so night1 killed. lol. You are the most pro town player I've seen.notnight 1 killed, than you might have the begining of a case for scummyness.

I would also like to point out a VERY crucial bit of information that could easily be missed:
To me, this suggests no power roles. That gives the Scum incredible freedom to make accusations, form false bonds with town players, and in general post without fear of being busted by a cop. It also puts a lot of pressure on the town during end-game, as all we will have to go on is voting record and posting. This also allows scum to target whoever they want.In the very first post in this thread, Sefer wrote:The members of the town rush out of the local saloon to see that the local sheriff and doctor have both been gunned down.
Without a doctor, It is highly likely that pro-town players, as well as players who are correctly picking out scum, will be targeted for night kills.

Peter - I missed reading this, good call! I guess I might be a good nightkill one then, with no doc to protect me :\. We might have a vigilante on our side or something, but your analysis is probably more accurate... We'll see after night1.
Peter's posts put more suspicion on John and less on Peter, in my opinion. Why would a mafia point this game detail out - and like Peter said why did John highlight that I'd be a good night1kill??

I like counting things (these totals are assuming official count was right):
Guardian (2): John, Vryklan
Occult (2): Vel-Rahn Koon, DLMF
John (2): mustafa15, Ichigo
Vryklan (1): Avinyl
Avinyl (1): gorckat
Raffles (1): Guardian
Not voting: Peter Venkman, Raffles, Occult
There are 12 alive and it requires 7 to lynch.Do not lynch me.
