Jack, you should come to ScumChat sometime. Real game-relevant conversation doesn't start for a good 5-10 minutes, usually.
Anyway, I'm pretty much just waiting for everyone to check in and do something. I don't believe that Klebian has posted yet. LURKERSCUM!-

Blasted simulpost. Hi, Klebian.
You'd be surprised, actually. Suppose you're a Vig. You know that there are 4-5 scums out of the other 8 players playing. That actually gives greater than a 50% chance of hitting scum. ItBeHappyNewyear wrote:Good point, forgot about the Vig. Still, the thought of it makes me want togiggle like a schoolgirllaugh.makes sensefor the Vig to kill N0.-

I'm trying to decide if I think a massclaim is a good idea or not. Had the night not gone as well, I would have immediately advocated one. As things are now, I'm not sure we should be doing it today.
Thoughts, everybody?-

It's a good thing we went with the FoS idea. One vote and three FoSes on him now.-

Well if we mislynch, it's 3-1-1, and if two townies die overnight, we'll find ourselves in a Prisoner's Dilemma. So it's a very real possibility that we still have to lynch correctly from here on out.-

The odds of scums killing each other are not high.Jack wrote:Well, if two people do claim the same thing we have a 50% shot at choosing the right one. But right now we have 33% at scum anyway, and the odds of scum killing one of eachother are quite high. While if we massclaim we could just reveal the prime choice roles without learning anything.
It's 25% that one kills the other, and 1/16 that they both kill each other... and this is, of course, assuming no interference from a Roleblocker or Doctor.-

....which is why Atticus should claim, obvobv.klebian wrote:BHNY: the FoS's were established so we could vote without accidentally killing someone in a multi-post. The intent is that when someone has enough FoS's, we lynch him or vote him up to -1, or something similar.-

The other reason I want a claim is that if Atticus happens to claim something significant/relevant, we need time to discuss that claim, decide whether we're okay with it, and if necessary move on to the next big thing.-

Wait... if we lynch one player, I vig another, and Atticus roleblocks a third, we can effectively test 3 of the 4 other players in the game. This sounds pretty good to me.
And obvoiusly if I'm lying about my claim, the real Vig would just kill me overnight.-

That and there's 1 Mafia and 1 Werewolf left. No two players can be scum together.Atticus wrote:I think BHNY may be the way to go though, vanilla claim.
And me and Glork can't be scum together, planning on helping each other, that would be too coincidental.
Atticus, tell me who you're going to block tonight, so that I know not to vig them. I'm going to argue that if there's a Doctor, they *NOT* Protect tonight, so that we can count nightkills and see if Atticus' target is scum.
If BHNY is scum, there should be two nightkills if Atticus' target is pro-town. If BHNY is not scum, there should be three nightkills if Atticus' target is pro-town.
Sound good to everyone?-

Right now I'm thinking that, if a Cop is guaranteed sane, then we lynch Jack. If he's lying scum, we win. If he's telling the truth, I will vig Atticus tonight and we will still win.-

No. The last scumMUSTbe Atticus or Jack.
1) Atticus is lying, and Jack got a guilty on him. We lynch Jack as town and Atticus gets vigged overnight as scum.
2) Atticus is telling the truth, and Jack is full of crap. We lynch Jack and win.
It's a done deal regardless.Vote: Jack-

Then again, MeMe, with 5 scumbags out of 9 players, it was likely that crosskills would happen, and in fact the town could not have won without them.
Well played, all. I think we actually got lucky that Atticus claimed first. I couldn't see a scumbag making a gambit that big (to claim the necessary existence of a Vigilante), and once that happened, we had averyslim chance of losing.-

I don't, usually. I even told MeMe that in my PM. And I explained the justification for it earlier... more than 50% chance of hitting a scumbag. I felt it was worth it.Coron wrote:How dare you kill me jack! Also, glork, you didn't strike me as the type to n1 kill. If I were still alive I would have been kinda confused. Um, also, N1 Doc no protect? That's non-standard. Again, it worked out for the better, but *shrug*. Anyway, town got a lot of luck with the nightkills, and didn't really need much precision to win after their luck. None the less, not a bad game by town.-

4/8 chance that the SK targets a scumbag.Vel-Rahn Koon wrote:So my question is, should I have protected on Night 0? Obviously this game could have turned out much differently, but in general, is it a good strategy?
3/7 chance that the Mafia targets a scumbag (assuming the existence of an SK).
3/7 chance that the Werewolves target a scumbag (assuming the existence of an SK).
Tough call. A bit of a coinflip, really.-

I realize that... and, honestly, if this had been a regular game and not the forum equivalent of a ScumChat game, I would have grappled with the issue much more. I basically figured "eh, what the hell... why not?" and just did it. *shrug*-

I think you did as well as you could, Jack. The one thing I got is that you had this "lynch anyone but me" mentality (which I also picked up on from Klebian) which is what I'd expect a scumbag to have in that situation. You're effectively an SK, and in a fast-paced game (such as one in ScumChat), you see solo scumbags pushing harder than normal.
