I have some time free for the holidays, maybe I'll make an appearance. I need to be taught how to minecraft again. Specifically to make the program work and shit...
I went on a quest. AKA, I randomly explored whilst taking absolutely nothing with me... no armor, weapons, tools, food, etc. I pretty much +/- a few hundred circled the perimeter out to +1000/-1000 in each coordinate. The most interesting place I found was a savannah plateau IMO. I was looking for a mesa but no luck. Found a few ocean type places not sure if they were connected or not. Found a huge desert that went on for almost 1000 blocks. Slaughtered a bunch of pigs for food and managed to make a bed and bring it home with me. Didn't find a NPC village at all which kinda surprised me. I didn't explore everywhere within the square kilometer around 0,0 but it seems like there might not be everything in there. I was trying not to explore too far away from spawn but we might have to to find all the cool stuff.

I would love to have something organized like this. We would probably have to clear some ground, because unless I forgot that quickly, spawn area is everything but flat.
My base is just North from Bag End. Little island with a cottage-like house on it.

I've expanded the basement and outside farms. That cross outside is a landmark for exploring (below it are more farms).
First one I know the processor better than the second, so i know its a decent processor but from a quick google the second one's processor isn't TOO bad, although it is comparable to a dual core intel pentium in all but 3D graphics X.X. There's more ram and HDD in the second, AND it's cheaper, BUT WINDOWS EIGHT my eyes are bleeding
My home (just north of Bag End, look for the island with a map before the bridge) has a connection through the Nether to Klaz (we needed that one for the sake of the old server!) and a jungle biome. Have fun. Will patch it up with stairs when I have time, and will do the same with a mesa biome, once I find one or someone gives me coordinates to it.
ETL/Bulba/whoever else lives near me: ignore the ugly-ass bridge over the river to spawn, I'm going to make it less ugly later. I tried to mimic the style of whoever built the other bridge but it doesn't work as well with a diagonal.

That'd have been me, that's my place. Make it straight and it should be pretty scale-able.
Yeah but there isn't a good place for a straight bridge.

Thanks! It's not my own design, but it served as a good base for trying out new colors and make the whole area more or less consistent.
You're not looking hard enough--there isn't a place, we make one. I terraformed that whole island to make it work. It's better than diagonal bridges, edge-on blocks will rarely look good.
If you want, I can deal with the bridge tomorrow night. Just get me some more acacia. >.>
