Even though you truly have no reason to believe so, you think today might go differently.
One scum down, how many more to go?
The circumstances of the night before have given you a ray of hope.

But maybe that hope was twisted to complacency somewhere along the way, because it was a long and tedious day. Without a cloud in the sky, your group has barely any respite from the sun beating full force through the morning and afternoon. Perhaps it is the persistent rays that suck all energy out of you, for even though there is an important item on today's agenda
(ahem: LYNCH SCUM)
, people are barely talking. Some even slip in and out of consciousness from the heat. You're worried you can't take any more of this. You have to find a way to end it, and soon.

So by the time the sun begins slipping beneath the horizon, the group has regained a small sense of urgency. You have finally decided the next to die.

The accused,
Albert B. Rampage
, stands before the group.

Full of righteousness and indignation, you surround him swiftly. He is tired from the day’s proceedings and can barely keep from fainting. So he doesn't resist. The condemned quickly disappears underneath a trample of limbs. In a moment they are lying on the ground with their neck broken.

Just a second ago, you were all so sure that this was another heartless murderer. But as someone searches the corpse, all confidence slowly melts away.

Albert B. Rampage,
Vanilla Townie
, was lynched Day 2!

You were already burdened by yesterday's lynch, but lynching another innocent today seems to erode the optimism in the room.

Heads hung, everyone retires to their cabins for the night. No one expects to get any rest. Just as you hoped today would be different, you hope that tomorrow will be different.

It must be different.

Night 2 begins!

It is now Night 2. You have
(expired on 2013-11-06 19:00:00)
to PM me any night actions you might have. If you have access to a quicktopic, you may now post in it.

I will also be searching for a replacement for ChannelDelibird during this time. I don’t plan to reopen the thread for Day 3 until a replacement is found. I’m sorry if this further delays the game.

And of course, like you expected... there were plenty of bumps in the night. You were far too terrified to leave your room and investigate where exactly they were coming from; after all,
the killer could be at work as these very thoughts occur to you
. You woke up at one point during the night in a restless fit, and in your brief moment of consciousness you hear something strange.

Or at least, you could have sworn you heard it.... A frenzied ragtime tune coming from the lounge at this ungodly hour?

You nervously chalk it up to your overactive imagination and force yourself back to sleep, burying your senses under the warm covers, lulled away by the slow movements of the ship.

At dawn, your group hurriedly rises. There is more work to be done. You begin banging relentlessly on suite doors until each one has been thrown open and the entire group has seemingly emerged out in the corridor.

Once all the suites are cleared, you stagger with relief to see zero corpses in the cabins.

“Maybe we
can
find them before they kill us,”
somebody blurts out, reassured. The rest of you aren't so sure, and remain quiet. There is some attempt to make small talk -
"How did you sleep?"
and
"I hope it's not too hot out today"
- but mostly you're all lost in your own thoughts as you ascend together to the main deck.

Before you begin the day's proceedings, someone wises up to perform a routine headcount.

There is one of you missing!

You do a quick recount - it's not a mistake. Rather than go around the group - deliberately, one-by-one, double-checking with the ship manifest - in order to determine whose face is absent, the passengers fly into a panic.

Barely thinking, you divide into small groups to sweep the ship for the missing passenger, already knowing what you will find, but hoping -
still hoping
- that you might find them before it's too late... For all you know their body has already been lost to the sea...

After overturning the restaurant and bar searching for your lost member, your group enters the lounge. Its sleek modern décor is all in perfect order, but over by the grand piano there is a limp, huddled mass. Your stomach drops as you approach.

You find the poor victim slumped over in an awkward position - not quite kneeling, not quite standing. Their head has been forcefully wedged under the instrument’s lid, cracked open and bleeding onto the white keys. Their attacker must have slammed the instrument’s cover down on their skull repeatedly… who knows how many times?

This was no shot through the skull or the heart like the night before. Your friend suffered tonight.

What a horrible way to die.

notscience,
Town Neighbor
, was killed Night 2.

Ok. I'm willing to back off for a while and see what Yates does with the slot.

How are you feeling about GrimGroove? And is Plum still your strongest scum read?

I was looking over the thread, and I've found some interesting things:

Plum's first scumreads list were notscience (who flipped town), Kaz (who is town), and smudger (flipped town).

She tunnelled Spyrex most of day 1, and Spyrex has been a top proponent of the there's-something-scummy-about-Empire wagon. And thus, he is probably town.

The push on me/kaz slot was really safe, considering many players expressed my slot as scummy.

Here is an expression she thinks Brian is scummy (flipped town)

She had Empire as 'leaning town' (Flipped scum)

This vote on GG doesn't tell me much. I don't know GG's alignment, but I've expressed he's probably town.

A vote on CDB? Easy. Another player who has been under suspicion.

Now tell me, how can a player's voting be so consistantly on town? And other votes are 'safe' votes. Plum's voting patterns are either on the wrong players or they are easy people to vote at that specific time.

That's a really bad case Peabody.
If you're scumreading Plum for the reasons you just addressed (faulty reads), your townread on me makes no sense because they were equally faulty (Brian Skies, Empire, SleepyKrew).

@fferyllt: What are YOUR thoughts on Grimgroove?

I find notscience a strange choice for the nightkill. He was nowhere near conftown and not especially active that would make you think he would make scum nervous.

Disturbed. I know from our one prior game together that bad reads plus heavy pressure happen in your town game, but doing that accidentally as town leaves room for purposeful mislynches as scum. And I've been rehashing my concerns about the prior occupant of your slot.

We are missing a kill today. If I had to guess, I would say that notsci wasn't the scumkill. He looks more in line with motivations that would have driven an Empire kill.

Yeah I'm here. Give me a minute to put my thoughts together. I have a couple of VERY strong Town reads and one or two VERY strong scum reads on first pass.

I had Spyrex and notscience in my strong Town reads.

Plum and - I think - Grimm in my Scum reads. I'll post some cases.

But first.... obligatory wagon analysis post incoming.

So Plum was voting for Town in both final votes while off the wagon on Albert.
Garmr was voting for Town in both final votes and was the hammer on Albert.
Peabody was voting for Town on both final votes and was the hammer on Skies.

Since I have a very strong Town read on SpyreX, I am convinced all three people voting for Plum were Town.
That also elevates the likelihood that fferylt is Town voting with Town on Empire scum Day 1 AND makes Peabody look worse for the hammer - especially given Empires position on the wagon.

I feel very good about this vote:

VOTE: Plum

Garmr and Peabody are also good votes today, but my confidence in the Plum vote is highest.

I don't know for sure. It's just a sense from the lay of the game. I'm kinda expecting another kill on night 3 that follows the Empire/notsci pattern.

If I were an SK (or a vig for that matter), it's highly unlikely that I'd speculate about kills in thread. Particularly my kills.

You may remember that from the RAGE game.

When I'm not a killer I feel pretty free to speculate about kills and their motivations if something catches my eye, though I realize NKA is counter to site meta.

I think the person who killed Empire was paying attention to reads (initially I thought it was a 2nd bandwagon kill, but notsci suggests it's more subtle than that) and maybe thinking about whether a player would be hard to lynch. Empire fit that mold really well. notsci would be an easier lynch, but he also had some players with reasonably strong townreads.

You brought up the possibility of me being SK.

The kills feel more vig-like to me.

I dunno. Maybe I'm completely off and Empire's kill was a one-shot. I can just really see a line of thought connecting Empire and notsci, though. Scumkilling notsci, not so much, because as you noted it makes SpireX' town alignment all but a certainty.

I was willing to compromise-lynch her yesterday on the basis of SpyreX' read. Would be very reluctant to make that kind of compromise on a town read. So no, not particularly townreading her.
