@Maestro: Since we haven't been able to be on the server at the same time, I just put a sign in each of the pens that said what went in them.
In the meantime, I started working on GCS again. Don't know what the building itself will look like (I'm not the best at designing something like that and will need help.), but at least I can get the inner workings done.

Well if you'd posted here saying when you'd be on I would've made time, bra. Haha
I'll do that soonish, but also know I'm going to be updating us to fix the structure loading soonish.
That means I don't really know what w're going to do about the 1.7 jump...since I'm guessing people don't want to lose our Strongholds.

World structures not manually loaded by players approaching them after we update to 1.6.4 will be lost when we update to 1.7. I'm not sure if it's serious enough that it would even effect structures not previously generated in 1.6.x with our current seed, but it's a notable issue that's been the talk of Mojira for awhile now.
I'm NOT saying people will lose their builds. As serious an issue as this is, it's not THAT serious.
That being said, this is the "update that changed the world here." My opinion is that that speaks for itself...
I'm even willing to do WorldEditing to bring builds along with us in the update.
Tierce, Rhinox, Bulbazak, and UT especially should get back to me with their thoughts on that.
While I would like to keep what I've worked on, I'd understand if we started fresh. That being said, if that is going to be the case, let me know so I can stop working on the subway system. I'd like to know before I start major work on GCS.

M: everything that has been loaded by player approximation stays in, right? That is, all parts of the overworld/nether/end we've seen/build will stay, right?
If so, I have no issues with updating, it just means we need to travel to see new sections and world structures.
The way 1.6.4 works is that you have to go and reload all the structures (naturally generated ones, that is) while you're on 1.6.4 BEFORE you update to 1.7, or else 1.7 will break them. So strongholds, witch huts, dungeons, they all need to be visited in 1.6.4 before a 1.7 update.

I...what?

I don't understand how something could affect a structure that doesn't exist yet.

Sometimes we don't realize what we're saying until someone else tells us we're being dumb.

Also witches naturally spawn in 1.7 and I was TERRIFIED when I found that out.

Also, Tierce, my main issue with risking this type of worldswitch is that given how much people have explored it's more likely than not that all three Strongholds have been loaded and generated, though we may not know where they are. Not knowing where they are, we can't possibly go find and locate all three (especially in-between updates; especially given server activity level) and we'll likely lose them with the update to 1.7.2. This would force me to fabricate an End Portal for us to even get to The End, which isn't something I think any of us want to happen.
Isn't there a tool that tells you where the strongholds are, or does that not work anymore?

Not that I wouldn't gladly make the portal - I bet it would take 5 minutes, tops, from game load-up to portal opening - it's just that that's far and above any form of "aboose" we've had before, and it's also kindof just an icky fix for something that shouldn't be a problem.
PE: It's called Amidst, but I used it semi-recently and it looks like some recent update broke it, at least for the download I have.
I can try again but that's also some form of cheating I'm not truly interested in.
I was confused about what the problem was but I think I understand now.... 1.6.4 is kinda like a transitional update that we have to update to first in order to transfer the world to 1.7, and once in 1.6.4 every structure that has been generated at some previous point has to be visited and loaded in 1.6.4 or else it will break when transferring to 1.7. Is that pretty much the jist of it?
Anyways I'm fine with pretty much anything that needs to be done. I haven't had a lot of time for minecraft recently. After 1.7 my plan was t just take an inv full of stuff and go play in the new 1.7 biomes so update or full restart doesn't matter too much to me. I only found 1 desert temple I was considering building around at some point but I mean I can always go find a new one in 1.7 right? Strongholds could be a problem for whenever we want to go to the end. I wouldn't consider it aboose to spawn in a portal if we've lost access to all of them but we should have to earn it by building a structure or temple or something worthy of holding the portal first maybe?
