It's a wonderful question. The fact that it remained unanswered proves it.

nu-uh grimsie nu-uh!

Pie answer the question please.

And while we wait, Grim, maybe you can talk through why you think someone wouldn't assume 3 scum.

Making assumptions in the way pieguyn did it in itself is strange. It didn't sound like an assumption.

I don't do set-up speculation. 2+1+10, 4+9, 3+10, 3+1+9, 2+2+9, what's the difference at this point? Won't be clearing that up right now, right?

The reason I liked Desperado's question is because it addressed the fact the assumption was made, regardless of the particular content of said assumption. The emphasis is on the "why". Why assume anything in this regard?

The point is assuming 3 is the norm.

If you are going to make a 'reads list' like the one he did the normal or standard number of scum to assume is 3.

So; Why wouldn't he assume 3 scum if he were going to make that kind of reads list?

Yes. Pie was cop and I was vanilla townie. I read pie as town early on, mostly a gut feel though. Not much to go on this game so far, but I like the way he is questioning me already. Seems to be making a decent attempt to scumhunt with what information he has availaible (players he's played with in the past.)

Grim and TSO were also in that game. TSO, IIRC, was one of about 9 replacements that game so I honestly don't remember much about him. Grim was vanilla townie and I read him BADLY as scum. Mostly because his posts seemed to me to have a lot of filler in them. I also read his scumhunting as mafia trying to act overly townish. When in reality he was on the money with his reads and just trying to get the proper lynch. So far, seems to be playing the same way.

You simply transforming the question into a negative made it far less interesting.

How can you be sure everyone is aware of this "norm"? That's exactly what the "why"-question was supposed to find out.

The fact of the matter is, that pieguyn-list is essentially useless and probably some kind of joke, but it involves an idea that there's three scum that seems surprisingly factual for a list like that. Why would you base yourself on "norms" for stuff like this? It's as if subconsciously pieguyn put three scums inthere because he KNEW there are 3, explaining this direct transposition of this idea into a joke-list. I don't see a "norm" doing that.

I want this explained by pieguyn himself.

But thank you for being serious.

still, I find this weird. you recognized it, but you didn't consider what it might mean? IMO, this just implies you're not considering all possibilities, which isn't town motivation.
Given the fact that you listed 3 players from the last game we played together as maifa, I took it as an RVS joke. As far as what it means, I thought I had read before signing up that this was a straight up 11-town, 2-mafia type game with no specials. Probably got that from one of the other games I was looking to sign up for. In that case, the question asked here is still relevant.

Hey Mara...whatever you're seeing, it isn't really there. I'm town.

@ Slandaar: I just got done with a mini with a 2 man scum team + third party lover team. Why are you going out of your way to answer it for him? I think Pie would be more than capable of saying "I thought everyone knew 13p minis are usually 10:3" and that'd be that.

I don't think Slandaar is going out of his way to answer the question. He seems to be questioning Grim's reaction that the way Pie did that list was strange.

I took it as Pie being funny by fingering the 3 players he played with last game as scum. Others seem to think there was more intent to it. Hearing Pies reasoning would still be helpfull.

literally, I have no idea how to read Grimgroove. last time we played I scumread him and he was town and looking back after the game he was pretty much obvtown
the complete lack of  s is worrying me though \:D/

In post 81, Grimgroove wrote:I want this explained by pieguyn himself.

you're not gonna get an answer, cause it wasn't a serious reads list :>

it was a reaction test and I just put the 3 people I played with in Newbie 1428 as scum. I wasn't assuming any specific setup, that's all there is to it. Desp halfway passed for questioning what the hell I did and Generic fully passed for figuring out the reasoning behind it (IMO, scum probably wouldn't put that much effort into it). I'm not fully sure on Desp, but cause of this I lean town on him for now. I still find it weird how BigTerp completely ignored it. = =

@Pie: I ignored your readslist because, like I said, I figured it was just you pointing at the three of us you played with last game. Nothing more. I had a little joke with my RVS vote that game as well, if you remember. It turned into me nearly getting lynched. No reason to address yours because I took it as a joke.

As far as Grim goes, he seems to be playing similar to last game. Pretty gung ho with some scumhunting already out of the gate, which is good for the town. But this is partially what caused me to read him as mafia last game. Like you, I'm not sure quite yet how to read him.

I know that the past game most of been a epic one. But can we keep the past games to a minim later on in the day. Because If we build cases around that the people who weren't in it get a bit left out :(. But more importantly if this becomes a continuation of the past game and one or more of you are scum you can play that to your advantage and keep things focused on the past game. Through when we don't have many cases it's fine I guess.

Kinda throwing my input in here.

What even is robotic about Grim's posts TSO?

I do find them perhaps looking too much into pie's random list but I don't really feel it's scum-motivated considering all the talk before Grim bringing up the list seriously was about a past game.
