Interesting, not what my calculations were showing but then again mine was incomplete and I was just scratching things together from the publicly available information; I'd obviously trust the guy whose running it's calculations over mine.In post 3826, Shanba wrote:We've been sent out the tiebreakers, and it turns out my OMW% is the second highest in the whole damn thing - plus I'm up against one of the two people at effectively 20, so we'll be IDing in.
Edit: If you can post the complete standings/pairings for the last round from the e-mail that'd be great for me since they aren't up on the site yet.-

So these are the decent decks (lol Azorious Detention) I've seen playing Standard Pauper the last few days to think about building upon or that you might have to face...
Extort(what I'm playing and am obviously partial to, Tragic Slip and Murder rolling out hurts since there's not as much cheap targeted removable available but I've still been having success with it)
Boros Aggro(only faced it in a one game and kept a dumb hand and since have curved my deck lower again but it did what it said on the tin and won that game)
Bant Hexproof(have only faced it for one game and my deck has been changed up since then but it did exactly what you'd think it'd do; perhaps I was too eager with my early celestial flares and didn't take out enough enchantments by waiting, the 1/1 lifelink enchantment creature that betows for four makes this deck hard to race as well)
Mono Black(this deck gives my deck fits because it carries enough removal to make it so I can extort nearly as much as I want, I think I sport a 3-1 record against it but each win has been a 2-1 affair, I actually brought in Duress the last match from my sb and it did great work stealing a Read the Bones each time and without that reach the deck was relatively DoA.)
Mono-Green Stompy(I've seen two different builds for this, one vastly better than the other, the bad one played guildgates just for the Saruuli Gatekeepers but they're totally not worth it, the good one was busy dropping Battering Krasis and evolving it with Advocate of the Beast and Ivy Lane Denizen and while I never saw a Rumbling Baloth they had to be there as well)
Izzet-Clops(hurt massively by Delver and flashback rotating out which steals away the card advantage this deck needed to be top tier, it simply doesn't have enough threats against a good removal suite in my opinion)-

My pre-testing preliminary conclusions, based on some brewing last night a look at the pretty small card pool are something like this
- card draw is pretty lacking. Divination and read the bones are arguably the best (pilfered plans competes with read the bones which is surely just better). Sources of uncondintional raw card advantage being rare and mana expensive make it hard for the slower kill threats decks to keep up with the fast aggro.
- mono red was barely hurt by rotation and should still be one of, if not the best deck in the format. Brimstone volley becomes minotaur skullcleaver. I don't believe there is a compelling reason to play boros over mono red.
- white has access to pacifism, celestial flare and last breath, which are arguably three of the best removal spells in the format. It's to the point that arrest is likely not needed, and neither is banisher priest.
- green has a nice mix of cards that make it hard to die (centaur healer, saruli gatekeepers, deadly recluse) and efficient (in context) fatties like rumbling baloth. It also has one of two playable one drops in the format in elvish mystic. It also has a fair amount of decent early beaters. I like green in this format.
- blue is not very compelling (especially to me). It's all tempo cards and only a few decent dudes.
I've looked at g/w big stuff using common bond and the two heroic dudes in those colours, plus leafcrown dryad, hopeful eidolon and a couple fatties. Seemed to play ok, and it was doing some powerful stuff. Wasn't as good against the red deck as I was hoping - it tripped over its own mana too much.
The red deck seems truly fearsome. Like, really good. Any deck going in needs at least a plan against it. For that reason, I want to be playing white - either white black or white green, I think.(10:50:24 PM) xcaykex: GODDAMNIT I DONT WANNA GET RID OF MY TENTACLE RAPE PORN

Put this Bant Flash list together today, and I'm LOVING it so far:
4 Sylvan Caryatid
3 Centaur Healer
3 Boon Satyr
2 Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
2 Prophet of Kruphix
2 Armada Wurm
2 Prime Speaker Zegana
2 Selesnya Charm
2 Call of the Conclave
2 Detention Sphere
4 Advent of the Wurm
1 Mystic Genesis
3 Sphinx's Revelation
1 Stolen Identity
3 Forest
4 Plains
4 Island
4 Hallowed Fountain
4 Breeding Pool
4 Temple Garden
1 Selesnya Guildgate
1 Temple of Mystery
2 Syncopate
SB: 3 Rapid Hybridization
SB: 2 Mystic Genesis
SB: 3 Supreme Verdict
SB: 2 Sundering Growth
SB: 2 Aerial Predation
SB: 1 Stolen Identity
SB: 1 Centaur Healer
SB: 1 Angelic Skirmisher
Prophet is an absolute beating. I'm unsure about the one-of Stolen Identity, it hasn't done a whole lot for me so far. But seriously, flashing in Armada Wurm with Trostani on the field is amazing... being able to populate your tokens every turn then untap every turn is amazing... flashing in Zegana is amazing. And, usually, with this ramp, I'm able to Mystic Genesis their 5cmc (I've hit Stormbreath Dragon, Kalonian Hydra, and Aurelia with my playtests so far) which is huge on its own. The only deck I had problems with was the super fast white weenie/boros aggro deck, simply because Soldier of the Pantheon protection from multicolored/giving them life every time I cast multicolored is pretty damn good. I'd also imagine I might have issues with Burning Earth, but I think I can get around it with 11 basics + 4 Caryatids.green shirt thursdays-

>Mystic Genesis
ok Frank
I'm also assuming you're only using cards you own because there's no Voices (even in the SB).
don't remember what Predation does but I bet Plummet is better
needs glare of heresy in the board
that's about all I have time to add.If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

I considered running Plasm Capture but this deck isn't really trying to ramp any more than it already is, especially since it's flash. I suppose I could just cut genesis for straight up counterspells.
It's partly because I don't have the Voices, and it's partly because I don't really think Voice fits in this deck? The only thing I want to be playing on turn two is a Caryatid to ramp into bigger threats, there's really no room or time to play Voice.
Predation is 2G to destroy target creature with flying and gain two life, so one more mana for two life? Seems okay (might cut that altogether, not like fliers are super prevalent except for Desecration Demon)green shirt thursdays-

eh. still think plummet works. and flashing in voice is funny
Azorious Charm pretty good if you can find room.
Saw a Bant Flash list running Horizon Chimera. It's somewhere on channelfireball's article section, compare and contrast for card ideasIf you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

so I bought a set of Jace AoT at $8. he's at ~$24 tcg-low. Thassa I impulse-bought 3 at $10 last week, she's at about the same. traded one for a mutavault because she was 16 friday morning. if I sold them on tcgplayer for $20/ea I double my money. buylisting I can still at least get my money back plus a few bucks.
sometimes I actually invest well, other times I'm stuck with 30+ Ratchet Bombs. oh well.If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

Took 3rd/4th in a 64 person release draft last night on MTGO; went 3-0 in the first part running GreyMerchants.dec and then while MTGO decided to crash during the end of the first round of my second draft I still managed to get back for Pack 2, Pick 3 and salvage an alright Uwb deck that was based around bestowing dudes on Artisan of Forms and/or Agent of Fates that let me win the first match with a 10/9 deathtouching, trampling Artisan of Forms in game 3, then my second match went to game three where I kept a five lander, with a two drop (1/2 Flyer) and three drop (1/4 - extort for 3), ran my opponent down to 3 life on just those two creatures and if I had drawn one more threat in the first seven turns I would've won; instead, of my first seven draws, six of them were lands and eventually he threw the lifelink bestower on a 3/3 and got himself out of the danger zone and I kept mostly drawing lands.-

So I and an anonymous partner (it's Shanba) are looking for a 3rd to play in a Team Pauper tournament. I can supply from a bunch of decks for said person to use, but if you have your own that's fine too. PM me or hit me up on scumchat if you're interested.
Decks I can supply:
Affinity
GW Slivers
BW Extort/Edge of the Divinity
NivixCombo
(theoretically) RW Wellspring-

I can also loan a few decks:
Stompy,
an old build of Delver (it would be substantially different if I built it today),
A really old pretty bad build of g/w auras,
NivixClops (in case you like me more than bv )
Jace's erasure turbofog (sideboard needs rebuilding though - also not a top tier deck)
r/b or g/b tortex (not tier 1, but I've tuned them pretty hard),
Presence of Gond combo (:D)(10:50:24 PM) xcaykex: GODDAMNIT I DONT WANNA GET RID OF MY TENTACLE RAPE PORN
