My point is that people have been notoriously bad at evaluating Planeswalkers, and I tend to overestimate 3 mana planeswalkers.

People didnt like Chandra either. She can come down and "do 1 damage" and not use her 0 etc. etc. But she sure as hell has been an all star for me

So yeah, when people are saying about yet ANOTHER planeswalkers "wow what a pile won't see play" I'm inclined not to listen

Answer this for me, Fate: Why is Ashiok worth the slots in a maindeck? What does this card do that makes me win the game? Milling 3 is not a win condition. Possibly stealing a creature if you're lucky is not a win condition. Stripping their hand is not a win condition. Having to stick your planeswalker for 3 or 4 turns just to get a random creature from their deck is just not worth it. Having to dedicate slots in your deck for a theoretical creature that'll never be something YOU want is not good.

Not everything in a deck is a wincon. Especially in control.

Are you actually claiming that the card fulfills the purpose of controlling the game better than a draw spell or a removal spell?

I think that's pretty clearly untrue.

Its not as good a control option as other cards. It is not a win condition. What does it do, then, exactly?

Still a three mana counterspell, but could be better than dissipate with flashback rotating out.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

Scry is pretty powerful. I dont know how to evaluate it yet. If the format is as slow as it seems like its going to be, the card could be very good.

I think its versatile enough in enough match-ups to warrant slots in the MB. I think this has been argued to death and obviously no one is ever going to change their mind until results are posted and a metagame is formed...

Well, it's a 1 mana counter, and 2/2 birds become less significant over time. It's not a decision you snap-make, but it's worth keeping in mind.

I'd rather give my opponent a 2/2 than say, an Ashiok

Spoiler:
haha just kidding they can have the ashiok

[edit] I'm dumb and forgot it doesn't counter planeswalkers. IT COUNTERS EVERY OTHER NONCREATURE THOUGH ;_;

speaking of ashiok, I don't think she's great but she could be better than people are making her out to be atm

I think she'll go the way of Vraska and be mostly overlooked until the meta's just right/she'll be mostly a sideboard card.

It's mostly a surprise counter. Like, countering something with it early probably isn't that great, but being able to play out a threat and still leave U up to get a Sphinx's Revelation or something is a big game. I don't know that I'd play it in dedicated control, though- it seems like more of a tempo card.
