i was wondering. The way I got into dota was kinda unconventional. So I started playing with some of the more difficult heros instead of starting small. the prob with this is, that now i'm getting a friend into dota, and have no Idea what heros to recommend to her.
so can anyone recommend some easy to play heros? for a beginner? also. if you're sophomoric level, i'd love to get your name and play with you. i'm sick of being caught between absolute noob games, and 10,000 game veterans.

I'd recommend Crystal Maiden for new people

I would not recommend CM, she's fat and slow, and very delicate.

I recommend Skeleton King, or other tanky heroes such as axe.

When I started DotA I ran Abbadon while my friend ran CM
we had a nice run

I run Chaos K and CM quite often with my friend though and have never lost a game before with that combo (only lost lane once but CM got all the levels so it was fine? XD)

nooooooooooo she is incredibly dependent on positioning which is not something you get early.

Brewmaster is a fantastic beginner hero. He's easy to play, he's strong even without great farm, and literally all of his abilities make him harder to kill.

Viper is also pretty good too.

hes shit without his ult and most people can't even micro 3 abilities let alone 8

Brewmaster - Noted bad hero with extremely high micro requirements.

All three of your pandas are selected immediately with Earth given priority and if you get them all attacking your desired target while casting hurl boulder every time it's off cooldown you are in the top 90% of Brewmasters. He is easy as shit to play.
Also Clap is very strong and Haze is very good at shutting down autoattackers. Plus as noted, he has great strength base/growth and literally all of his abilities make him harder to kill, which is fantastic for any new player.

dk is far easier for the reasons you listed

aoe nuke, long ass stun, free hp regen, huge str gain and the kicker is right click ult

thd, ogre, treant, drow, jug, wr, lina, tide, sand king, veno, loa are all good heroes to start out with

oh how can I forget about DK, best beginner hero there is.

I can play brew wonderfully aside from ult, which is the most important aspect of him. A brew who doesnt know when to ult or how to use it is very painful.

Necro was my first real hero. He has one and a half abilities, it isn't a big deal if he falls behind, and he teaches cs mechanics better than anyone but SF.

My favorite play I ever saw was a luna running in circles around a lina trying to use LSA. Neither of them could stop or the other would kill them. Very funny.
