There’s something a little wacky going on at the Warner Bros. Studios: slabs of bologna have been found

outside

of people’s slacks… anvils are no longer randomly falling from the sky… rubber chickens have lost their inherent humor… and perhaps most frightening of all, many of the characters seem to have a somewhat stable mentality!

Oh yeah. Some of you might find it important that a random corporate employee was also found quite dead just the other day, with a horrifically, mind-bogglingly, gut-wrenchingly, eye-poppingly, abominable-y, harrowingly, mind-blowingly, devil-may-cryingly, god-awfullingly, hair-standing-on-endingly, wave-your-hands-in-the-air-like-you-just-don’t-caringly, and my-hand-is-cramping-from-way-too-much-typingly cryptic warning written in silly string found upon his chest:

Jelly’s Rules

Please read the rules carefully, as there may be alterations from the standard sets of rules. Most of these rules have been stolen and edited from so many places that it would take too long to reference all of the sources.

Rules On what is Allowable:

[01] This is only a game, and I expect all cartoons to remain somewhat civil (although I understand you are essentially a crazy, lynching mob). I will not accept excessive abuse upon freedom of speech: obscenity, profanity, libel, and fighting words will not be tolerated, and if you push it, the Head Jelly reserves the right to have you replaced. In other words, be respectful to all players, as well as myself.
[02] Do not talk outside of this thread, unless your role PM explicitly says you may do so, and even then, you are restricted to night-time for all out-of-thread conversation.
[03] Do not edit or delete your posts in any way, shape, or form. Once you have posted something, it is there for good, unless I find reason to alter or delete your post myself.
[04] Do not quote your role PMs in any way, shape, or form.

This also applies to night conversations.

You may, however, paraphrase your PM at any time, but if you go too far, the Head Jelly reserves the right to either replace you or to modkill you should the situation warrant.

Technical Rules
[01] Each day the town must decide on a lynch. Once a majority has been reached on a player, that player will be lynched, regardless of any subsequent unvoting.
[02] To vote for somebody, please use bold tags. For example,

[03] If you wish to unvote, I would appreciate a formal bold

[04] If the game lags, I will place a deadline, which may or may not be retractable. I will

probably

not allow any day to go longer than one month.
[05] When a deadline has been placed, I will require only a majority of what would normally be a majority for a lynch (i.e. 12 players needs 7 to lynch, so I would require 4 to lynch in such a scenario). If this number is not reached, day will end in no-lynch, and the game will progress directly into night.
[06] If two or more players are tied for the most votes when a deadline hits, and they have garnered the required amount of votes to be lynched under a deadline, the player who reached that number of votes first shall be lynched.
[07] You may vote no-lynch if you wish. A majority voting for no-lynch will end the day, and the game will progress directly into night. To do this, simply

[08] Nights will last a maximum of 5 real-time days. If you have not sent me a night-choice by that time (should you have one), for the first night of the game, I will randomize your choice. For all nights afterwards, I will consider you as choosing that you do not wish to use your action.
[09] If you feel that you may not be able to post in-thread for a period of 48 hours or longer, please say so in-thread and send me a PM as warning. If I find it necessary, I will have you replaced, but I would much rather keep all players who sign up for any of my games.

An old man sleeps soundly in his bed... when he suddenly hears an incessant screeching noise. His eyes open quickly – and the fact that is tired is very apparent as the whites of eyes are riddled with red lines. He turns his ears away from the window... but to no avail. The screeching continues.

He puts the pillow on his head. No change – the horrible sound is still loud and clear. After five more minutes of tossing, turning, and muttering to himself, he decides enough is enough.

Just as he opens the window, holding a boot in his right hand, there is a loud *thud* followed by another softer *thud* of something falling from a fence onto the pavement. Rolling his eyes, the old man tosses his boot at the cat for good measure, before retiring back to bed.

A newspaper reporter studying the wreck of the Titanic suddenly sees something he had overlooked the hundreds of time he had looked at the album. "Certainly not," he thinks, flipping pages to other photographs. But it is in every picture. His eyes go wide, as his subconscious reels at hidden thoughts.

Without thinking, he opens another album – paintings from the Battle of Waterloo. The same figure appears next to Napoleon, over and over. "It can't be!" he thinks, disbelieving. He searches through albums and videos of alls sorts... Black Tuesday. Battles at the Coliseum. Nazi Germany. The Enola Gay. The Moon Landing. The Man Standing in Front of Tanks in Tienanmen Square. Socrates drinking hemlock. In each demurely stood the same thing.

"Giant chicken! A giant chicken everywhere!" he screams, running from the room. He runs up behind his boss, shaking him by the shoulders. "Giant chicken! Good god, the world's gone mad! The men are chickens!" When he turns him around, he finds that the manager he had been working under for twenty years was indeed... none other than a giant chicken.

"Bloo! Blah! Skeeble-doop-fleep" says the man, as he tosses papers willy-nilly and dances on his toes out the door, quite lovingly driven insane in mere minutes. He somehow failed to notice that the giant chicken also happened to be beaten upside the head.

A hulking, green monster lurches across the street. It bends lampposts to its will... it uproots trees, fire hydrants, and blue mailboxes... it flings aside cars, and fruit stands, and hapless people. A timid family, wearing pots, pans, and bike pads follows it at a distance, only too accustomed to this type of behavior.

"We need to go home!" says the smallest. The monster snarls and grabs a pigeon in the sky, devouring it. A construction worker dives into a manhole after witnessing the spectacle, and people scream running in all directions away from the menace. "Sis, we really need to go home. You left your cell phone on the table."

The monster stops... and thinks. Suddenly, it shrinks into a petite 16-year-old, who is smiling and acting as if nothing has happened. "Oh! That's where it is. Silly me – I had thought somebody had stolen it." She giggles innocently.

"You know sis, you really overreact to stuff like that."

Her face suddenly scrunches up and her eyes narrow. "I am

In addition to being part of the Mafia, being as well-learned as you are in the ways of Geography and the Universe, you can determine with a single glance whether or not somebody is a fully functioning human (in the normal sense of fully functioning, and hence does not include degrees of mental instability). Each night you may choose to investigate another player, and you will be told whether that player is ‘human’ or ‘not human’.

YOU’RE A TEENAGER!

Life can get you really, really angry. The slightest mishap can cause you to live up to your name, Katie Ka-Boom. At least once per day, you must completely “explode” on at least one person, or something bad may happen to you the following night.

Since “exploding” is rather subjective, all you must do is have at least three consecutive sentences directed at one player while using caps-lock, or large-sized letters, or underlined text (or any combination of such). If you believe something else also qualifies as “going ka-boom”, simply PM me and I will give you either the thumbs-up or the thumbs-down.

Other than that, you are a Townie, and you have no abilities. You win with the town, when only members of the town are living.

I may edit in more notes as they occur to me, but one thing in particular definitely needs to be addressed:

1.)

Townies were in no way, shape, or form meant to "confirm" each other. Here is the process I went through to determine both the townie role-names and the scum safe-claims:

Two names were randomly chosen for the Mafia - the one which I believed was a more common character was chosen as a safe-claim. Two names were then randomly chosen for the Town - the one which I believed was the more common character was made into a Townie.

Four names were then randomly chosen for the Mafia - the two which I believed were most common were then chosen to be safe-claims. Three pairs of [two names] were then randomly chosen for the Town - the three which I believed were most common for each pairing of [two names] were then made into Townies.

Although it

happened

to work out that Pinky and the Brain were both Townies, it was

more

than possible (and in fact, very probable) that similar things could have

easily

happened with a town role "confirming" a scum fake-claim in much the same manner. I would

highly

advise against making these sorts of assumptions about my set-ups in the future.

2.)

I decided that I did not want a strict Cop who received guilty and innocent investigations, so I decided to instead give the town a gender Cop, which would become more useful the longer she lived into the game. I naturally kept the ratio 3:1 for "male" v "non-male", and I purposely included Mr. Skullhead to have some investigatory snags, as well as a largely unconfirmable role. I do not think the role is more powerful than a regular Cop – getting a "male" investigation does not indicate you've found a scum; nor does getting a "non-male" investigation indicate you've found a scum. In order to make use of this information, town had to play smart.

To counteract that power, I gave the Mafia a complementary role, a "Human" Cop. Fuldu may have been able to come up with better flavor had he gotten different safe-claims, such as Dr. Scratchansniff, Brain, or possibly Runt. Them's the breaks, though.

3.)

The role I was most worried about was Chicken Boo, the Watcher – although it was statistically unlikely to actually "catch" scum, it could be a very powerful role. As such, the scum had

two

ways to get

very

misleading (but true) results:

-> a.) If Chicken Boo watches the Buttons the Martyr (for example), and the Mafia target the same person for a nightkill that Buttons protects, Chicken Boo

would not

see the Mafia killing Buttons because they did not

target

Buttons.
-> b.) The Mafia

did

have the Cop ability – they could have sent both Yakko and another sibling at their nightkill – causing Chicken Boo to see two people targeting the person who died (possibly more if townspeople also targeted that person). In this manner, Yakko could bus his sibling, and add

a lot

of credibility to the claim that he has a town nightchoice (the Cop claim being most obvious, but of course he could have claimed anything he liked).

Also, note that every night the scum try to kill Chicken Boo, he cannot possibly get a result (since he cannot watch himself, and if Buttons protects him he will not see Buttons being killed).

4.)

There were a couple random factors in the game (besides townies and fake-claims), and those were Mr. Skullhead and Katie Ka-Boom. Mr. Skullhead was meant to be rather a mystery as to how he would investigate to both of the game's Cops, and Katie Ka-Boom held most of the nightchoice's in her unstable fingers. I do wonder if I should have instead had her

literally

explode, but I think this result fairer.

Also, I really had no choice but to also block the result of the Mafia Cop should Katie fail her restriction – or else the Mafia could claim a result and look bad on the basis that neither the Hello Cop nor Chicken Boo received any result, and I did not want to help the town find scum for a townie failing their post restriction. This was also another method in which scum could bolster their claim and

appear

to be role-blocked when they are not, therefore making it seem like they are less likely to be scum.

5.)

In short, I had all sorts of factors to make townspeople look suspect, to put townspeople on the wrong track, and to help bolster scum-claims. I think the game was balanced very delicately – of course by Day Three it seemed mightily in the favor of the town, but that is largely on account of the fact that the town had

lynched two scum in a row

. It only stands to reason that the scum are going to have a tough time pulling themselves from that situation, but it was by no means impossible.
