1) Is it feasible to get...
&
2) How would people feel about getting...
... TeamSpeak set up for the server?
We own a TeamSpeak license (by we i mean my company), and we MIGHT still have an actual running server still lying around on one of the machines, that nobody ever used/published the information for.
After some discussion we have decided that, in most cases, we will
NOT
be moving over items from the old world to the new one. If you feel you have something that should be bought over despite this decision (e.g. Rhinox and his saplings) feel free to PM me about it, but the answer will probably be "no".
The main reason for this is balance; many people, perhaps even the majority, have focused mostly on IC2, RP2, or TC3, none of which will be in the MafiaCraft pack. This means that if we were to let people bring items with them, those who focused on Thermal Expansion or another major mod would be at a massive advantage right from the start.
Instead, when you log in to the new world, you will be able to choose between three different starter kits. The first is an improved version of the one on the current server; it includes some tools, blocks, armor, food, etc., to help you get started. The second is a bundle of raw resources, including most ores that can generate, as well as some wood, stone, and coal. Finally, you can choose to receive almost an inventory-full of various building blocks and decorative items, most of which are full stacks. You may also, of course, choose to play without a starter kit and "punch your own damn trees".
This is the best idea to come out of the admin group in a long, long time. This is not meant to be sarcastic or a jab at previous decisions - this is seriously a great idea. Caters to all play-styles.
So with mystcraft gone, that means no portals/linking books/etc right?
I was just wondering what everyone's plans are for transportation around the new server? Are people going to finally care about roads, rails, and nether paths again????

Wow really? Thats actually pretty cool. *goes to read about the mod*
But given that it won't be in the D1 modpack and that one needs a continuous supply of ender pearls to be able to teleport (not to mention investing the time and resources to craft all the cameracraft stuff), surely we can not just rely on this as the primary method of transportation, right?
So how does everyone go about getting started with resource collecting and managment these days? I know klaz will be turtle mining on day 1 but what does eveyone else do? Manual mining? Quarries? other automated systems? Just wondering what I should be going for to get the most out of my resourcing and getting on to doing other things. I just manually mined in the current server, and I'm looking to do things more better starting in the new server.

I think we'll probably all end up using it eventually - ender pearls aren't an issue once I've built another enderman farm.
But yeah, rails are cool. More of us should use rails.

I'm guessing most of us will manually mine at first, and then use quarries.
Bear in mind there will be some rules about quarries - they count as chunkloading machines, loading up to 25 chunks, and we're limiting chunk loading to 36 per player. Also quarries in the overworld must not be visible from the surface unless you plan to make them look nice afterwards (like I was on the world before the last one), and no quarries (or pumps) are allowed within 3000 blocks of 0,0 in the nether.
(Mostly) on hiatus until further notice. Planet MafiaScum 2 will be modded by Inspi and JDGA - go check it out!

OK. I always feel like I fall behind on the resource curve. Maybe I just don't do it right.

Because I miss playing with people and if you're going to SERVERRESET then I think now's a good time to jump in.
Also we CAN use the MS mumble. Not sure what you're using now but.
For vanilla, just connect through the IP, but not many of us play there any more. For FTB, when the pack's available there will be instructions for how to get it through the FTB launcher. It should be a matter of hitting a few buttons and typing in a code.
Also, QUICK SHOW OF HANDS FOR THE NEW PACK'S TAGLINE:
A MOB HAS SPAWNED
or
A MOD HAS FORMED
or
A MOD HAS SPAWNED
I like the first, personally.

In the FTB launcher, each pack has an icon which appears in the list on the left, and an image that appears when you click on it. I'm asking what wording we want under the logo on the second image.
