If a consensus is reached that we would prefer to restart the world as necessary in order to keep up to date, is that with the understanding that we just start with basic starter kits, or that we get to bring over an inventory-load?
as for the next update thats up to the admins, as for from then on, assume it means fresh-start.

We can always keep copies of worlds and i can give the world to anyone who wants their builds. but i'll take it you'd prefer a steady map without updates

I like this very much. I know I'm pretty new, but I wouldn't mind starting fresh every few months or so to check out new things. On xbox, I usually end up doing this after a month or two anyway because I get bored/new update/etc. so starting fresh on PC would not be anything new. The fact that we could get a copy of the world is a huge plus, too!

For the record I think this is wrong. If we're going to accept the fact that we're likely to restart on a semi-regular basis, people should at least be allowed to bring SOME stuff over. As others have said in the past, the initial resource grind gets VERY dull after a while.
(Mostly) on hiatus until further notice. Planet MafiaScum 2 will be modded by Inspi and JDGA - go check it out!
permission to disagree - I happen to love punching trees and raiding Villages for books and food
I'm talking more about the horrendous amount of work needed for your first HVSA, or steam boiler, or whatever. Maybe a full inventory is too much, but I certainly don't want to re-create everything legitimately every time a modmaker messes something up.

and if we ever have to restart, it will be determined then and there by the admin group what we do. I said just assume worst-case-scenario, because that way you're not disappointing.
1.6 is just as likely to break all mods as 1.5 was (and broke most redstone related mods), and as 1.3 did with the universal. Why? Because they are recoding the entire game for essentially a new programing language (newest java instead of the 1-version-back java)
But then again I don't play to race through the tech trees and get to end-game stuff as fast as possible and then get bored when I "have everything". I like to build structures and transportation networks, and I'd just like to see them persist long enough for me to even complete them let alone enjoy them for a while after they've been completed. I play for server building, I guess you could say. And resets pretty much make server building impossible.
That said, if a reset had to happen soonish for an update, especially if the update might improve the constant getting kicked off the server issue, I'd be ok with it provided there was a substantial list of forestry related items I could start with after the reset (like some of my tools and machines, and a stack of every forestry breedable sapling to start with). But this is only because I haven't really built anything yet that I wouldn't mind losing or couldn't easily replace. Once I hit that tipping point though, resets would be very demotivating.
i don't recall having seen any comments regarding a new modpack. If anything in that regard is being discussed I would assume the admins are keeping it private and would announce anything they are planning all at once. I could be wrong though.

I feel like we should know what the mods are going to be since the admins
did
make a discussion on new mods. That would sway peoples opinions on what they should choose (in my eyes it would).
