I like this bear.

Image
Can't see how to make him work, as your opponent will be able to annihilate you with double mana first.

Also, how would the following work with dual cards? Would it make Turn // Burn cost only UR to Fuse?
Awesome sideboard card any way.

Voice of Resurgence is pretty cool.

After
extensive
testing for my Flux Capacitor bullshit Simic combo deck, I've realized there's just no way to make this thing competitive. Sure, it's fun to go "Haha, infinite oozes, everything is 11/11s, suck a dick" but it just can't win enough to make it worth investing the money.

I did, however, play a pretty fun deck tonight that I'm thinking might be a bit better, competitively (and much cheaper overall, too):

D
E
M
O
N
P
O
S
T

Mainboard
CREATURES:

4x Volatile Rig

ARTIFACTS:

4x Rakdos Keyrune
2x Staff of Nin
3x Trading Post

ENCHANTMENTS:

3x Demonic Rising
4x Homicidal Seclusion

INSTANTS:

3x Tragic Slip
2x Murder

SORCERIES:

3x Dreadbore
4x Mutilate
3x Diabolical Revelation

PLANESWALKERS:

2x Liliana of the Dark Realms

LANDS:

4x Blood Crypt
4x Dragonskull Summit
2x Stensia Bloodhall
14x Swamp

Nothing is happening... nothing is happening... oh great, bullshit Tragic Slip/Murder on my early game creatures... wait, what the
hell
is this enchantment? Demonic Rising? Whatever, at least he doesn't have any creatures--oh god, no. Goats. GOATS!? Oh god, that's a 5/5 flier... shit, now it's an 8/6 flier with lifelink? What the fuck!? And did Liliana just give it +8/+8?

This deck has so many fun interactions...I won a couple of games by sacrificing my own volatile rig with my trading post and laughing as it wiped my opponent's board or straight up killed them. I laughed as my Rakdos Keyrune stood up to Thragtusk after Thragtusk. Wiped boards with Mutilate, then put a puny little goat on the battlefield to give me 5/5 flying demons every turn. Had one game where my opponent blew 3 Planar Cleansings and 2 Supreme Verdicts on me, and I
still
had the reach to come back and win the game.

SIDEBOARD2x Cavern of Souls (Counter my Volatile Rig? NOPE. Goes in place of Stensia Bloodhall.)
3x Barter in Blood (Haven't
quite
figured out the right time to use this, but it's at some point where they shut down my ability to blow up my own creatures)
2x Bonfire of the Damned (shut the fuck up RDW)
3x Slaughter Games (Sideboarded this end against every single Reanimator/Rites player I played and it worked wonders)
3x Tormod's Crypt (same deal, how are you gonna unbury anything if you don't have a graveyard? Goes in place of the Staff of Nin+1 Keyrune)
2x Pillar of Flame (fuck zombies)

The deck is
really
fun, I'd encourage everyone to try it out. I was originally trying to find a deck that used Griselbrand, and in the end I'm not even using him! I'm a little iffy on Staff of Nin, but it deals with X/1s very well (fuck you very much, Sorin) and it gives me the extra card draw to get to my engine faster. And if it's a "draw-go" situation, then pinging them for a damage every turn at least puts them on a clock.

I have no idea how many cards I have, but a number like 30k would not surprise me at all considering that I have been playing for 11 years now, even if I only really draft. This shit adds up, 1 draft a week is 42 (45 if you count lands) new cards, do that for a year, which is probably my average and you get 2300 new cards a year minimum, as that does not include prereleases, prizes, or random drafts with friends that would increase the number.

I also completely disagree on the the splits being boring. For a limited point of view, they are all playable (even the R/W anti art/enchant is sideable) and present the interesting decisions of not only how high do you pick them (the guild ones force colors very fast) but in game, do you play them early or wait to get maximum advantage out of them and try to get a 2 for 1. Much more interesting in my mind than the very linear and typically overpowered champions. I mean, if Teysa hits its a 5 turn clock (7 mana is not impossible in draft) and its relatively hard to kill at 4 toughness and procreatures. That in my opinion is much more boring than Turn and Burn, which is all sorts of interesting decisions

Edit: In naming a card, you would name either turn or burn, reducing its cost of the half down to either U or R. The other half would still be full cost however.

Reck it is April and you still have a santa hat avvie what is the deal
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

GL shea, let us know how it goes.

RUG Delver has always intrigued me for some odd reason.

Well, I scrubed out of the Platinum event at TCG, but played in the silver and got 7th somehow.

News flash, I don't think Aggro is a viable option in standard right now.

Pretty bold statement for a pretty diverse archetype

Naya Blitz continues to place. Big Gruul got 2nd at a SCG Invitational I think, and R/g still works well

Hey guys, let me pick your brains a bit. I'm trying to come up with something viable for the Standard FNM tournament at my LGS that isn't too expensive.

Here's what I've got so far:

The thing about mill decks and Abberation/Phantasm is that it attacks from two angles: mill and damage.

I tried coming up with a good Dimir Control-Mill list and I just couldn't find anything to work. If I put in too much mill, I lacked removal/counters/creatures.

I've run cheap mono-Black control before (lots of targeted removal, Mutilates, Vamp Nighthawks, Bloodline Keepers and Bloodgift Demons) and I've heard of mono-Blue control being possible (Augur and Delver with lots of counterspells). Combing the two -could- work... you're probably better off going that route.
If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.

So I'm not recommending this as a strategy to beat anyone consistently, but Spark Trooper + Murder Investigation after dropping Cathars' Crusade on the table is really satisfying.

Holy crap, this list looks awesome. Trading Post and lifelinked Volatile Rig feels so good. I hadn't put goat summoning demons in the same deck though. That's fantastic.

Played a PTQ in Winnipeg this weekend. Took 5c Ramp-Control (formerly Omni-Door, but I cut Omni from the list in favour of more stuff to deal with my bad matchups). I prepared my main and side for a ton of Junk Rites and Esper Control matchups, based purely on all the competitive data I could find. I ended up losing a little bit of my speed in favour of resiliency, but I was comfortable doing so since it made everything but aggro a lot better. Played RG Aggro/Naya Blitz 4 out of 7 rounds. Won my other 3 rounds 2-0, lost all my Blitz matchups 1-2. I think if I'd had a bit more sleep, or not over-prepared for an archetype that wasn't even there, I could have won at least 2 more rounds. Either way, I'm happy I went, and 2 of our locals made top 8 (of 28 of us who drove the 8 hours. We made up 30% of the field)

Aggro was no where near top at invitational. I talked to multiple people who were playing Naya Blitz/Humans. 8/10, If they Kill your First two creatures you lose.
You only win against the other Decks if you get a nut draw and Kill them by Turn 5. If you go to Midgame as a Aggro Deck you will lose.

I haven't seen Aggro place highly recently.

Other than that yes. I was surprised at how many people were playing it at TCG player.
